That adorable giggle, that sweet smile, the way her face just seem to light up after Kayley's assurance she was her friend and would always be there for her was enough to make Kayley feel like her heart skipped a beat. Something about just... being there for someone who really needed it made her feel a little more like a hero now in a way that she didn't need her costume for. Jackie was such a sweet and caring girl and Kayley wanted to help her however she could, especially with what she was dealing with. "Thanks. And hey, I know a few spots where I practice with my own powers to... eh, help me keep 'em under control," she explained, barely keeping herself from letting her double-life as a superhero slip. "You're welcome to come along, sometime."
Their food was made in a hell of a show and Kayley's inner geek made her squee a bit at the cook's performance, then when it was done she barely wasted any time digging in. It had been a while since she'd had especially decent Asian food.
"How's yours?" she asked her friend as she was already finishing up.
An explosion was suddenly heard outside. Then the door got blasted down and in stepped a guy dressed like some kind of riot cop with a shield and some kind of gun entered, a police light atop his helmet and the letters "P" and "C" printed on his swat vest.
"What the hell..." Kayley muttered, several others clearly wondering the same thing.
"Attention! I am the PC Policer! Here to punish micro-aggressions, marginalization, and the otherizing of the oppressed! And this establishment is guilty of permitting white people to dine here and thus allow them to oppress by means of cultural appropriation!" the man in the costume declared.
"What are you talking about? No one's doing anything wrong here! People just want to eat!" one of the cooks said.
"Wait a second!" the "PC Policer" shouted, adjusting his goggles. "You're not Asian and you work here?! YOU ARE OFFENDING A CULTURE BY APPROPRIATING IT AND I WON'T TOLERATE THAT!" he suddenly screamed at the top of his lungs till he was red-faced and fired his gun, which emitted some kind of blast of sound that sent the cook flying into several condiments.
"Dumbass! My mother's Japanese!" the cook stammered, clearly bruised up but trying to stand.
"Then your father and you are both committing a micro-aggression against another race! It's my job to advocate for true equality and punish any forms of social crime and end the COMPLETE OFFENSIVENESS OF THIS PLACE!" the costumed villain snarled, firing again and sending the man flying. Kayley looked away a moment, horrified by this violent criminal's behavior. She needed to take action, but Jackie was right here.
"Jackie... stay hidden, okay? I'm gonna get help," she squeezed the girl's hand a bit. "I'll be okay, I promise." Immediately she rushed off with her backpack while the PC Policer was looking away making a show of himself.
"HEY!" Gemstone yelled as she emerged from the corner Kayley had rushed over to. Thank god she'd worn most of her costume under her clothes. As she approached she looked around and could spot Jackie, relieved she seemed alright. "Listen, PCman or whatever you're called, I don't know what your deal is, but no one's committing any "micro-aggressions" or whatever you're calling it. Now why don't you clear on out of here and I won't blast you through a wall and hand you to the cops, capiche?"
The man froze a moment, then looked like every blood vessel in his head was about to explode. "How dare you..." he growled. "How DARE YOU EQUATE ITALIAN WITH MAFIA INTIMIDATION TACTICS!" he screamed, firing his sound gun at Gemstone and sending her flying before she could react. Gemstone grunted as she hit the wall, then fell to the ground, her training helped her manage to land on her feet, in kneeled position as she looked up at her foe, glaring through her sunglasses as her blue plasma aura flared around her.
Several civilians got scared and began fleeing while the costumed villain was distracted, and the sight of an actual superhuman. With the fight it did not occur to Gemstone right away she'd already done a small demonstration of her powers to Jackie and if the blonde saw her, might put two and two together. But at the moment the young hero was worried far more about the safety of the people still in the building, including Jackie and the staff. "Then sue me," she retorted at the villain, charging up a plasma bomb and throwing it at him, the glowing blue orb burst on impact like a grenade, causing the villain to grunt in pain and go flying off his feet and tumble across the ground.
Gemstone created two more energy orbs, about to throw them but PC Policer grabbed up his gun again and fired at her. Gemstone's energy orbs dissipated and she went flying once more, feeling winded now from the concussive blast fired at her.
"Another WHITE super-Neo-type, too! Promoting the oppressive systematic white normativity of this highly regressive country!" PC Policer growled, about to fire a second shot at her...
"For Christ sake..." Gemstone snapped. "SHUT! THE HELL! UP!" she shouted, firing bolts of plasma energy at her opponent between each word as she got up, firing over and over at him before he could react, causing him to stumble backward. Kayley really couldn't stand to listen to the nonsense this guy was spewing anymore and it gave her the second wind to come back going all-out on him as he stumbled further and further back with each bolt of energy fired at him till he fell out the entrance and onto the street, Gemstone marching out after him. PC Policer tried to fire again but this time Gemstone was ready, ducking out of the way and grabbing him by the cuff of his vest and punching him in the face, her alien physiology made her stronger then an average girl of her appearance and it was enough to do the final trick, knocking the man out cold. The teen hero let out a sigh of relief as she could hear police sirens, and rushed back inside to make sure Jackie and the man the villain had attacked were alright.
"Dude, you okay?" she asked the cook as she helped him up.
"Yeah... no... problem... been through worse in college. Damn, guy packs a whallop." the cook said, coughing a bit and wiping off several condiments he'd been covered in from his clothes.
"Heh, good. Glad you're alright," Gemstone replied with a laugh. "Don't worry, he's out of the way. Taking a nap on the streets, the cops should be picking him up."
"I should... probably go make a statement. And get checked," the cook replied, heading for the door. Once more, Kayley let out a sigh of relief that things had been this lucky for a change. Less injury and such then that fight with Shockwave, anyway. She was just about to head out back and gather her things...
