Timeline: After: angle on ice Before: save me from myself Previous Threads: Na Characters Involved: Gemstone Location: Public school Meeting Kayley was the highlight of the girls weekend, givin that jackie didnt really go out and do anything after her dance club. So making a new friend was even better than raising money for an out of town trip. So when monday came around Jackie found herself infront of her mirror trying on all of her clothes. She wanted to look more noticeable yet not as noticable as one would normaly think. So after an hour of picking out clothes jackie went with a white laced shirt that hugged her nicely and light blue skinny jeans that fit just right. She also had white flat sneakers and a light blue back pack. Doing a double check in the mirror she fiddled around with her hair and the small amout of makeup she applied. When ahe walked out of the house to catch the bus, her hair fell perfectly to her left side in a cute tight braid. She had gotten some complements from the kids on the bus, but ignored them like nornal and took her seat at the back of the bus. The first couple hours went by like normal. She took her notes, got her homework done, and even had time to start on the next sessions notes. Yet when it came to fourth period she hesitated outside of the door. This was the class she had with Kayley, and Jackie couldnt have been more nervous. She didnt know how things would happen. Would Kayley say hello? Would she have forgotten the conversation they had? All the anxity just pulled at her, she ended up getting just a bit more white than normal and looked she had spot on highlighter and glitter on, even if it was just a small coat of ice. Taking a deep breath Jackie walked in to the classroom only to see she was still the first student to show up, a breath of relief came from her as she sat down at her normal desk. She was glad that she wasnt the one who had to make first contact. As time went on and people came in, jackie dug her attention into her books and her complexion seemed to normal out.

Up till now with the exception of a few friends in what could now be seen as a past life, Kayley had always been a bit of a loner, content to spend a weekend drawing or surfing the internet. Getting changed to a girl with alien superpowers didn't change that. Something more recent did, that after that visit to the ice show, she'd made a new friend, or friendly acquaintance that apparently shared a class with her at school. Jackie seemed like a really nice, if rather shy girl, but then again Kayley could be a bit on the shy side as well so she was hardly in a place to judge that. But now, she was gonna have a go with hanging out with the girl and getting to know her a little more and see if they could end up being friends. So here she was, in front of her full-length mirror trying several outfits on. It was weird, normally she would be blushing and uneasy about what to wear, this whole girl thing was still a bit new to her, but now, part of her mind was telling her she wanted to look good today and wondering what would look good on her. Lucy was pretty good at that but she wasn't about to get her sister involved or she might never hear the end of it. Best to act natural. She finally decided on a low-cut faded purple top and a black jeanskirt, with high-heeled black boots and a few bracelets. The teen blushed a bit when she saw herself, brushing back her hair as she took up her backpack and tried her best smile, blushing even more when it surprised her how pretty it was. Yup... still not used to this... she thought to herself in frustration as she headed downstairs. ~ Most of school went without incident, she still wasn't used to the attention she got from boys now but couldn't hold it against them; even she found herself checking out some of the more attractive girls before she'd notice what she was doing but thankfully she was starting to get a little better at hiding it, plus being one meant people were less suspicious. When fourth period rolled around she got nervous, this was the class she shared with Jackie and she wondered what it'd be like meeting her here. All the preparation just sort of vanished and she felt on her own here. Taking a deep breath, she entered the classroom and found Jackie to be the only one there... she looked as cute as ever, though different as she wasn't as dolled up as when they met but she still recognized her. "H-heya, Jackie, right?" she asked right as she got near her desk. "Hope you're... um, your weekend went well..." she sighed a bit, breaking the ice was not a strong point for her. TAG Frost Flower

How Does a Moment Last Forever? No matter how many times she read through the same paragraph she couldn't keep her mind focused on it, she couldn't retain what she was reading. When her name was spoken she looked up and when she saw Kayley she turned a slight shade of pink in the face. Though with her complexion it was clear that she was changing to a fair white to a pink tint. She noticed how well dressed Kayley was and wondered if she too had spent all morning picking out her clothes for the day too, but then again she didn't really know Kayley that much to know if that was her normal look or not. She did now that Dresses were not Kayley's normal look due to the actions of their last meeting. It was what seemed of a long moment of Jackie just staring at Kayley before realizing that the other had spoken to her in a way that required her to speak back. This only caused her to furrow her brows in a flustered way. "It was okay." She spoke quieter then she did the first time they met, it was like a cute little squeaky plush. "How was your time with your sister? I do hope you both had a good weekend too." She continued to speak, also showing attention that she remembered that Kayley had a sister with whom she was close with. It was normal for Jackie to pick up on small hints like that. It was something she had gained during her time in the foster care system. Jackie bit her lip a bit, she wasn't sure where to go from here but she didn't want the other girl to get bored. "Um, would you like to sit together in class? We could sit in the back if you like. I'm pretty good at note taking where ever I sit." She smiled a bit, trying hard not to lose her cool around the others.

Kayley blushed a little as she noticed Jackie's brief space-out before the blonde finally responded to her, making her feel a little self-conscious. Chill, you're a girl too. she told herself. They were both girls and it wasn't like she was asking her out or anything so she really didn't have any reason to feel nervous, right? It annoyed her how she was never the most social person and as such making new friends felt like a scary and awkward experience for the teen more often then not. Hurriedly she tried to get an answer for Jackie when she asked about her own weekend. "Uh, yeah, went well. Had a pizza-and-Netflix night and binge-watched a new series!" she said, fighting off a slight blush. Jackie was just so... so sweet. There was a sort of innocence to her that she could only imagine made a lot of guys notice her that she'd picked up from her the first time they met and it was still as evident as ever here. Of course, she was having that issue herself for different reasons she wasn't entirely sure of. "Umm yeah, sure! I-I'd love to!" she said, leading her over to some chairs near the back and sitting down at one of the desks. To combat any awkward silence she tried to think of what could start a real conversation. "So... pretty wild, huh? All the superheroes and stuff, like a comic book come to life and all!"

How Does a Moment Last Forever? The rest of Kayleys night seemed to go by nicely and that was pretty awesome. Jackie loved pizza, even more so when she got a nice cold glass of milk to go with it. When the girl accepted her request to sit together Jackie smiled brightly, this was something of true excitement for the girl. She couldn't wait to get to know this girl more. So gathering the bits of her stuff Jackie followed the dark-haired girl to the seats in the back. She took a seat right next to Kayley and set her stuff down nicely. Except she didn't pull out her book, instead she placed her full attention on Kayley. The girl then spoke about comic books and superheroes. Jackie bit her lip a bit. She had no idea what a comic book was, sure she had heard about heroes and stuff but those were just fairy tales, no one liked people who were different. They wanted to take them away and make them pets, at least that's what Jackie believed. She herself didn't mind others with gifts she had them herself. Yet others were not as nice as that. "Um.. What is a comic book? Superhero stuff, that seems dangerous. They should probably hide, you know the government is after those who are uh... Well... Um..." She spoke then she whispered "different." and with that word, it was easy to see how her eyes changed colors from a normal blue to an ice blue. It wasn't something she could control, but just the thought of this whole situation made her scared, and when she was scared, well her powers showed up. Jackie could feel the cold moving through her body and she tried to push it down. This meant for an awkward thing. Again the girl whispered but quieter than normal. "Please, not here, not now." She spoke to herself, she didn't like her powers. They got in the way of everything she did. She turned back to Kayley with very unsure eyes. "Wh-What do you think about this whole situation?" To be honest, Jackie feared the response, she wasn't sure how Kayley would react. What if Kayley didn't like neo-humans. What if Jackie had made friends with someone who would hate her in the future.

Kayley couldn't help but smile back, a slight giggle as Jackie gave that bright, adorable smile when she'd agreed to sitting with her near the back. God that was embarrassing, she sounded so... girly. But Jackie just had one of those smiles, the kind that just lit you up inside. Didn't help she was also really pretty. She was also taken by surprise in a different way when Jackie asked what a comic book was. Had the girl been under a rock or just never really take the time to look at one? Most knew. Maybe she just had a sheltered life. Still, Kayley now felt it was her responsibility to show her. Luckily she had brought some "study hall reading" along and could have some visual material. Taking out her Justice Guild graphic novel, she slid it on to her desk near the edge towards Jackie. "This is a comic book. Well, graphic novel technically because it's a collection of comic books, but... yeah, feel free to look through it. Justice Guild's a bit old, but it was my favorite growing up! It's about a group of costumed heroes with powers protecting their city from bad guys with powers." It didn't really dawn on the teen that girls weren't as big with comics as boys were... well, plenty were, just the demographic was mostly boys... point was she may have gone on for hours and Jackie might still have no idea nor interest in the end. However, that issue was hardly given time to last when something else happened, when Jackie got very nervous about something, and as their eyes met, the blonde's irises went from soft blue to a nearly luminescent ice blue and she suddenly could see her breath as the temperature seemed to briefly drop. Was Jackie a Neo? She knew about the stories about what the government did to "Neos" and she didn't like that, for reasons that had nothing to do with technically being one herself, now. Without thinking she put her hand on Jackie's shoulder, looking her in the eyes "Calm down..." she said gently. She noticed some more students starting to come in and looked back at the blonde. If Jackie was a Neo who was trying to hide it, this wasn't gonna end well with potential witnesses. They may face tardiness, but it was better then the alternative, right? "Hey, why don't we go outside for a bit," she offered with a friendly, if somewhat hopeful smile as she was hoping Jackie got the message as she took her by the hand to lead her out of the class and outdoors. As soon as both girls were outside, Kayley looked the blonde over. "You gonna be alright?" she asked. the girl leaned against the brick wall of the school, folding her arms and looking down for a moment. Lucy had told her to lay low, to not let people know about what she was, but this girl... she looked so scared of what Kayley was possibly thinking and it made her think of when she became like this and Lucy found her. She might... feel a little more relaxed if she felt... well... less alone. "You want to know what I think about all this? I don't think it's fair to judge Neos, they're people and the government has no right to treat them like animals for something that isn't their fault..." Kayley held out her hand, and for a moment, blue plasma energy formed over her open palm before flickering out. She managed a small smile, hoping to lighten the mood and ease her new friend a bit. "I don't know the details, but your secret's safe with me."TAG Frost Flower

How Does a Moment Last Forever? Jackie followed Kayley outside, this was it. This was the moment Jackie feared the most. Kayley was going to tell her how it was, how Neo's were freaks and they shouldn't be allowed in schools, the worst was happening in Jackie's mind. Which only seemed to flare up her ice even more. Her eyes were completely coated with a shimmer, and her skin was turning light white too. The hand that Gem held onto got colder too the more they moved through the school and out into the open of the outdoors. Jackie watched as Kayley placed herself against the wall and folded her arms. This wasn't good at all, she must have been thinking of ways to tell Jackie how monstrous she was. Even though Jackie never really pegged Kayley as that type of person, but when your anxiety was like Jackies you always saw the bad before the sun shined through. Kayley started speaking and Jackie focused on her voice and the way she pronounced every word. "You want to know what I think about all this?" Kayley spoke this first and it sent Jackie to hold her breath, this was it, it was the moment she had been fearing since she met her new friend. Kayley was going to abandon her... Or was she.. What the girl said next caught Jackie off guard. "I don't think it's fair to judge Neos, they're people and the government has no right to treat them like animals for something that isn't their fault..." This sentence brought Jackie to tears, finally someone who wasn't scared of her. Someone who wouldn't judge her for being different. This sent a calming feeling though Jackie and the ice seemed to start melting away. Then Kayley showed Jackie the ultimate sign of trust, Kayley showed that she was a neo-human too. Without thinking about it Jackie hugged Kayley and the tears fell onto the girls shirt. "Thank you. Thank you so much Kayley." Jackie spoke quietly as she held onto her new friend.

Kayley was, needless to say, taken by complete surprise when Jackie suddenly hugged her tightly, crying into her chest. At first, Kayley blushed. A lot. She'd never had a girl this close to her before, let alone to this, and it made her heart race, but that feeling was quickly overridden by the fact of just how much her words had affected the other girl. She'd made a difference. Not as Gemstone the superhero, but as Kayley the teenage girl. It felt good. She could understand why Jackie was so scared, the government didn't exactly think well of Neos and anonymity was probably the only thing protecting the girl whose arms were now wrapped tightly around her at the moment from ending up in a lab or being scorned by the public. It probably meant a lot to have someone know her secret and be on her side. "Thank you. Thank you so much Kayley."
The teen smiled and slid her arms around Jackie, returning the hug. "It's okay, Jackie." she said gently. "Like I said, your secret's safe with me."For a couple minutes the two just stood there, Kayley holding Jackie in her arms and letting the other girl take as long as she needed. Soon as the hug was over, Kayley looked in the other girl's blue eyes, a smile coming to her face. She really was very pretty. Hello, you're a girl too, genius. her thoughts reminded her again. Right. Plus this wasn't really a time for thoughts like that. Speaking of time they should probably get back to class soon-ish. "You... um... you doing alright, now?" she asked, holding Jackie's hand again in assurance. "Tellya what, after class, you wanna just... I dunno, go somewhere and hang out together? Maybe get a meal or something? Little... um... "Girls day out"-thing."

After a short time, Jackie pulled away from Kayley and gave her a big smile and nodded. "I feel better now, thank you." The girl giggled a bit. This time as the two held hands, Jackies wasn't cold, it was normal and it held onto Kayley as though the girl was the only thing keeping her human. Which was partly true at this point in time, which only made Jackie happier. "I would love to hang out after class. Perhaps we could go stop at one of those um... Comic book stores...." The girl did blush a bit as she kept retaining things in her mind that were important to Kayley. Her stomach then lets out a small grumble too. "Food sounds yummy too. I know of this really cool place that cooks in front of you. My foster parents gave me an allowance so food is on me." the girl said with a smile and a giggle.
As the two walked back into the school Jackie didn't let go of Kayley's hand, she was actually quite oblivious to it and the looks they were getting from others. Instead, she was more focused on Kayley and how her new friend was the best friend a girl could have.

God she had the cutest giggle, and the sweetest smile. Kayley's heart felt like it skipped a beat and the teen quickly fought off a blush. She could feel the warmth in Jackie's hand that wasn't there earlier. Jackie's cute reaction to the light stomach growl caused a giggle to escape Kayley as well. "Alright, once we're done with class, food first then we can see. I think there's one nearby. Boys there get a little weird when girls come in, though," she said with a laugh. "Especially ones as cute as you." She teased playfully. Imagining her and Jackie walking in and causing them to freeze up. It used to bother her, but she'd gotten used to it now. Somehow. As they walked in, she noticed they were still holding hands, but she said nothing. Jackie needed this, right? So it was okay. Not that she minded. She'd made a new friend, and this experience had brought them closer... she'd have to tell her everything eventually... that was what friends did, right? She'd understand, right? She'd do it later. Maybe if Jackie found out she was a superhero, which would definitely come later she hoped. ~ Kayley waited outside the door after class, smiling when Jackie came out. "Hope class wasn't too boring. Ready to show me where this "cool place" is?" she asked. TAG Frost Flower

Jackie excitedly maneuvered her school stuff though her locker so everything was ready for later. She then pulled out a small light blue cross body purse and found her way to the meeting place with Kayley. She smiled when the girl asked her about class and she shook her head.
"It was quite interesting! Took as many notes as I could!" She spoke as happy as her smile. "I am. I'm. I don't quite have a vehicle but I do have a bus pass. Though I don't really like using it." She pushed her lips together.
"Um... perhaps.... we could... walk?" Jackie asked quitely. "It's not to far from here and .... it would give us um... time to talk more." Jackie smiled a small smile. She then offered the girl before her a hand so she could lead the way if it was agreed upon. Jackie didn't realize why she really liked holding on to kayley, but she what she did know was that Just that small contact ment the world to her. Meant that she was human, that she had a friend that wasnt scared. Most of all, holding onto Kayley made her feel safe, which was a hard feeling for her to find.

Kayley smiled, Jackie was just so... adorable. And so sweet. She couldn't say no to those big blue eyes of hers when she asked if they could just walk to the place she told her about. "Sure, we can do that!" she replied, taking the girl's hand and letting her lead the way. Jackie seemed more relaxed when holding her hand, almost like a child half her age. It really made Kayley wonder what kind of life the other girl had. She mentioned having foster parents. Kayley would have to ask, hopefully Jackie would be willing to share. Once they were in front of a place that looked restaurant-y, Kayley looked over the sign, she had plenty of allowance to satisfy the big appetite she now had thanks to her half-alien physiology. "Hmm, smells good. After you!" she said, letting Jackie lead her in. Once they were seated, Kayley set her backpack down and decided to break the ice. "So... um... how long have you been in Chicago?" she asked, once again feeling shy and awkward again. Starting new conversations like this was never a strong point. "I take it there's a story behind it."

Jackie excitedly lead the girl to a Asian food restaurant. It was a beautiful place with a great smell of food lingering in the air. Kayley then asked how long she had been in Chicago.
"Only a couple of months." She spoke with a smile. "I'm originally from Germany but no one could tell. I practice the American accent for a long time to make sure i wouldn't get picked on." She took a sip of her water. The waitress came up and smiled and offered to take their order.
"May i have the Sweet and Sour chicken please? She spoke quitely. The woman nodded and looked over at kayley to get her order. Once that was complete Jackie smiled.
"My foster parents were kind enough to take me in, I was getting to old. No one wants to adopt teenagers so this is where i am." She spoke quitely. "But i couldnt be happier. I love it here, except for the whole neo hunting, but that's bad everywhere." She fiddled with the silver were and kept her eyes off of the woman across from her.
Kayley was the first one who ever really accepted her as a Neo and was a Neo herself. It was exciting yet nervousing to her.

Kayley nodded as Jackie told her how long she'd been here. "Same. Germany, huh? Quite a trip. I know New York's not nearly as far but I can totally get the feeling of uprooting your life to a new place." she replied. When their waitress arrived, Kayley ordered the General Tso's as well as pork dumplings. She did have a larger appetite then most, after all. Once they were alone again she listened to the rest of Jackie's story. "I'm glad you're staying with someone and you're doing well," she said. "Neos... yeah... my story's a bit different from the usual. It wasn't genetics for me, actually." the teen explained. "Not long after I moved here with my sister, I found this weird little device over by the Great Lake's beach and took it home. Thought it was a toy of some kind I could sell... then it switched on and... well... I don't think it's from Earth. It... ehh... gave me these powers."She hoped that didn't invalidate how she felt she understood Jackie's situation. She had to hide what she was... well, who she was from people as well and would probably get treated the same way as any other deemed a "Neo" would... though possibly end up in a lab for the half-alien thing. Also it was a bit of progress, there had been things she hadn't shared with Jackie yet, like Gemstone and who and what she was before the superpowers. Still, she could see how much Jackie needed a friend, and she wanted to do that for her as best she could. Jackie seemed nervous, though, so she put her hand on hers. "Hey, whatever happens, I've got your back. Friends don't abandon friends, and all that, and you are my friend."

Ich Will dass ihr mich gut seht Ich will, dass ihr mich versteht “ Uprooting her life wasn't as hard as Kayley made it out to seem, which made her giggle a bit. She knew that it was different for everyone, but for Jackie, she didn't have much left in that country besides a graveyard she didn't even remember. Jackie nodded, the foster family she was with were pretty nice, except Jackie knew they didn't take kindly to Neo humans. Hearing her Foster Father talk about it during breakfast and her Foster mother telling her to watch out for those nasty neo thugs who were all around. Jackie just always nodded and kept her distance from them. She then listened to Kayley talk about how she got her powers and she nodded. How she wished that could have been the case for her, she would take that any day over the icy death that filled her car that one winter night. The girl's warm hand reached hers and a smile flickered across Jackie's face. Kayley spoke about being friends an not abandoning her. This again almost brought tears to the young girl's eyes, she had been abandoned by just about everyone. So when someone finally said they wouldn't then used the word friends it meant more to her then anything. 'Hear that mom? I won't be alone anymore.' she thought in her head as the smile grew even wider. She wished she could show Kayley just how happy she waking her right now, even if she couldn't show her today, perhaps another day Jackie could return the favor. "I'm here for you too you know," Jackie spoke in her normal soft-spoken voice. "Friends do that for each other.confirminghe last bit of that sounded more like she was comfirming that for herself. After all, Kaley was her first real friend.
