Timeline: After Back to the Drawing Board Previous Threads: N/A Characters Involved: Cheshire Iron Man Location: the streets of Detroit Several weeks have passed since the beginning of the recruitment drive began. What started off as a few dozen potential candidate has dwindled down to only a handful. Majority of the wannabes have either dropped out or died in the tests. The next task at hand was the street race. One of Dean's favorite initiation rituals. Glancing at the night sky, he took another puff from his cigarette when a drop of rain tapped his cheek. The roll of thunder through the sky caused his heart rate to increase in excitement. Slick roads at night made the drive all the more dangerous. And the higher the risk, the greater the thrill. Pulling in one more draw from his death stick, the neo flicked the butt to the ground and smothered it with his flat-sole shoes. Exhaling the smoke, he pushed it between his lips in a long, thin stream. Climbing into the driver seat of his signature racer, Puzzles revved the engine before creeping towards the center of the party. Several SUV's were blasting synchronized music as the bass thumped hard enough to be felt in the bones. Other drivers were showing off the latest upgrades of their cars while others were making deals and trades. The DJ of the music turned down the volume to make an announce. "Clear the way, Clear the way! Racers are coming in!" The sound of engines screaming for the high RPM's could be heard in the distance as several headlights could be seen growing rapidly closer. Two were neck and neck, fighting for first place. Suddenly, the one on the left lurched up slightly as the nitro was engaged, giving it just enough boost to pass the finish line. With a smirk on his face, Dean made his way to one of his lackies. " Pay up, Camshaft, told you Greaser would win" "Dammit, man! I even helped Pitman tune his engine and everythin'!"With a huff, the gang member slapped a few grand in the leader's hand. With the first several runs over, it was time for the main event. Removing his leather jacket, Puzzles was wearing a tank top and overly baggy pants. A flat brimmed hat was lazily plopped on his head. Rolling up to the starting line, he parked the black and green racecar in the middle of the other cars. Letting his engine idle, the gang leader couldn't help but chuckle as a few of the recruits were revving their vehicles, as if trying to figure out who's dick was bigger. " Amateurs.... that just tells me how much power you're running...." Wesken mumbled to himself. Looking to his left, the king of the streets saw a dodge charger. Based on the rumble of the engine, most likely a hellcat model. To his right sat a mazda miata. The hissing of the turbo was obvious of it's modifications. Most likely a new guy that thought because he dropped a stronger engine in it, equaled a better racer. Definitely not someone the Cartel King had to worry about. An adolescent woman, maybe about 23, dark olive skin, bottle blond hair, obvious breast implants and an unhealthy addiction to bubblegum walked into the middle of the road and pointed the cars. "Listen up! It'll be a three lap race! Follow the GPS you've been provided! Those that pass will advance. Those that don't? Well you'll be walking home!" Holding one up arm, the dodge revved its engine. Raising her other arm, the Mazda revved in response. Throwing her arms down, Puzzles slammed the gas and dropped the clutch. All power instantly shooting into the tires, rubber squealed as the front end lifted into the air before slamming back down as it took off down the road. Cheshire Iron Man

A dull green subaru impreza wrx rolled up to the starting line prior, the driver behind the wheel having tied their long black hair into a ponytail behind them, long bangs dangling down past her ears. Clad in a black baseball cap, leather jacket, midriff exposing shirt, blue jeans, and a pair of thick boots. Jade "Crock", god she hated using her father's family name, but rather he get attacked if someone cracked her identity rather than her mother. Tapping her fingers against her steering wheel in a mixture of impatience and worry. Normally she was the one running the game, but for the first time in awhile it was possible that Cheshire had been outmatched.
She was no slouch behind the wheel, but if the rumors were true, then this "Puzzles" was the driving equivalent to her assassination talents. She would really have to pull off something crazy to get his attention. Taking a moment to catch her breath, Jade changed her focus to the reason she was here in the first place. She already had reservations about child trafficking when she was younger, but as a full fledged parent, the beast was unleashed upon those foolish enough to partake in it. They hadn't gone for Lian yet, but like hell was she going to take that kind of chance. Her attention was snapped back towards the referee as they approached. Blinking with a slightly dumbfounded look on her face Cheshire shook her head "So that's what Artemis would have looked like as a bimbo." she chuckled to herself, cracking her neck and watching for the sign. She sped off once the signal was given, trying to find the right balance between speed and gas conservation as she saw a pair of cars lined up against her, getting ready to ram into her before she suddenly tapped the brakes, letting them speed forward slightly and ram into eachother instead before returning to a full boost of speed.

Just before the race began, a Plymouth Prowler rolled up to the starting line, the purple paint job polished to such a degree that it shined even in the dark, the piercing neon blue headlights and the roar of the engine drawing attention. The top was down, the driver smiling at fellow racers and the shapely flag girl alike. With spiky blonde hair, sunglasses despite it being dark out, and a leather jacket that came straight out of the 90’s he looked more like someone who had more experience watching Fast and the Furious flicks attempting to look like a street racer than anyone who had actually participated in one before. Still, he had passed the previous tests and had shown up for the next, toothpick between his teeth as he surveyed the competition. Here’s hoping this goes better than the last time I was in a race, he thought, remembering an incident from several years prior in which his vehicle had been seared in half on a racetrack. Whiplash is dead so I doubt things will be that bad, but this gang is still a rough bunch of d-bags.Looking at himself in the mirror the driver was ever so thankful for the photostatic veil, a holographic mask that kept him looking like the cliché he was presenting himself as. After all, the gang wasn’t likely to give up its secrets if they knew their new recruit was the Invincible Iron Man! Tony Stark, undercover as Antonio Hogan, was taking the time to look into this Jigsaw gang himself. It wasn’t that he couldn’t use his position as advisor to the President and half a dozen intelligence agencies to do the job, but he wanted to personally find out just what the gang’s connection was to the trafficking of Neo-Humans. More importantly was the idea that some of those being kidnapped were not being sold as one would expect. No, from what he could tell, they were being handed off to people at Black Sites, off the books government locations where they would then be moved to prisons, labs, and similar facilities. Last thing we need is another Denver incident, he thought. I can’t stand between the government and total war with neo-humans if someone down the chain of command is playing Doctor Frankenstein with powered people. If indeed there was someone in the government buying and experimenting on Neo-Humans it was so far off the books he couldn’t find it. That kind of thing meant funding, deep pockets that seemed separate from the coffers of politicians. So far there had been no clue, no electronic trail he could follow, nothing. That meant he had to get to the bottom of it the old fashioned way, the hard way. Once I know what puzzleboy is up to, I can trace back to who is paying him. And maybe I drop in with a change of clothes to break these guys into so many pieces they don’t fit back together.Glancing at the Impreza he tried to make out details of the driver, his high-tech contact lenses cleaning up his vision and enhancing his eyesight. She seemed to be some of his toughest competition and the readings he was getting back on her vehicle were impressive. Nothing like the upgrades he had made to his own, but still, he had the feeling this was one he had to keep his eye on. Just before the flag girl’s arms dropped he waggled his eyebrows at the driver behind the Impreza, smirked, and gunned the vehicle, F.R.I.D.A.Y mapping the course and interfacing with the steering as they streaked down the road. With the racers going full speed, Dean held a sinister grin on his face. Not because he had a nefarious plot, but because this was his turf. They weren't playing by any legal or common rules; rather, they were playing with virtually no rules. And, when it came to being behind the wheel, Dean was one of the top dogs. Nearing one of the turns, the brake lights on the black and green car lit up as it was rapidly dropping in speed. Holding down the clutch, Puzzles pulled the e-brake and cranked the steering wheel. Turning his vehicle a little more than 90 degrees to the left, it was as if the racer lost control of his car. Revving the engine high, the e-brake was released and the clutch was dropped, engaging the wheels as they kicked up smoke. Due to his unorthodox method, it appeared as though the street racer was able to clear the sharp turn at what would be considered an impossible speed. Using the speed from the drift and steering back slightly, Dean pressed a button in a few short bursts, causing a few flames to blast from the tail pipe as the nitro was used to regain speed. The Mazda, however, wasn't as fortunate, attempting the same maneuver, the car was too light to the amount of power it had. Turning into the drift, it careened onto the sidewall, folding one of the tires and causing it to roll, landing on its roof inside a flower shop. The charger, however slowed down enough to take the turn with as little tire slippage as possible, relying on its torque to close the gap, a feat that was all but impossible as the puzzle-design car sped off. The leader of the Jigsaws chuckled at the carnage caused by the small vehicle. " That funeral is going to have one expensive repair bill" he amused to himself. Running through several red lights at speeds well over 150 MPH, a few cars honked as they slammed their brakes. Sirens came on and lights flashed from a few cops that witnessed the illegal race. Another risk, albeit a small one for Puzzles. The adrenaline was flowing through his veins, causing his heart to race and his eyes to dilate. This wasn't just fun for him. The rush, the excitement, the feeling of invincibility. These were his heaven and his high. No amount of drugs or alcohol could have him feeling this good. Jumping onto the highway, his speeds continued to climb, soon reaching into the 200's as everything became a blur. The slightest miscalculation could result in a deadly crash, yet still, Wesken kept the throttle down, weaving through traffic as if it were child's play. Pulling out his walkie, he spoke to the other drivers. " You f**kers might want to grow a pair of balls if you want to join the Jigsaws. Not too late to B*tch out if you can't make it. Heheh." Watching coldly as the Mazda sped into it's untimely demise, Jade kept speeding past the cops and angry traffic. With the flip of a switch the car windows went down, the wind whipping her hair all around as a devious smirk formed upon her lips. More accurately able to hear the position of the cars nearby, she steadied herself with a calm breath before suddenly slamming the gas through a tight cluster of cars in front of her. Weaving her way between doors and bumpers with the utmost precision, a hair thinned line separated the metal chassis of the vehicles as she looked at the car to her right, none other than the overcompensating flirter from before. With a near manic grin she grinded her car against his an attempt to run him off the road, mockingly blowing him a kiss as she did so before managing to slide her way ahead of the group of cars. Once in front of the pack of runner ups, Jade began drifting side to side for a moment to throw up a cloud of dirt in hopes of disorienting the competition.
"Heh. One way or another they'll be jigsaws in a way. Just depends who will be the ones that need to be put back together." she mused to herself, going full speed ahead in an attempt to catch her future "boss" who had quite the lead at this point. She wasn't foolish enough to try and beat him for the lead though. If and when she caught up with him she'd keep her fair distance, but there was still a fair amount of cars to get through before reaching him regardless.

When he first decided to go undercover Tony had expected a rough crowd. Research and reports indicated the Jigsaws were not your typical street gang and their interest in racing was far from the typical Fast and the Furious fanboy nonsense that most who claimed to be a part of the scene clung to. So despite not being adverse to risk (just being Iron Man was dangerous to say nothing of the thrill seeking he'd done in the time since escaping the cave) he knew he'd need something to give him an edge. He just didn't think he'd need it so soon. "FRIDAY, looks like the hottie from earlier is taking something rather personal. Be prepared," he advised his assistant just as Cheshire attempted to run him off the road. Thankfully the A.I. was already on the job, seeing to it that he didn't overcompensate by taking control of the steering. He had previously advised F.R.I.D.A.Y to not play their hand too early, so the best of his high-tech updates to the car were not immediately used. "Don't overtake the leader, we want to get off on the right foot here. But since little miss thing over there gave us a love tap, let's repay the favor if we get the chance." As an energy field rippled ever so briefly through the windshield, burning away the would be dust and mud screen that caused issued for nearby drivers, he reminded himself that this was not going to be a repeat of the last time he was in a race. There was no Vanko waiting for him down the line, only civilians he had to keep as safe as possible. As a pair of racers inched up on the Prowler, engines roaring, he pressed a button on the radio, marble sized objects dropping from a compartment in the bumper. They bounced before bursting with a blue flash, the miniature EMPs disabling the two foreign cars and stalling them dead in their tracks were other racers were forced to veer around or slam directly into them. Eyeing a police cruiser up ahead, it's lights only now beginning to flash despite it having no hope of catching the racers already ahead, Tony smirked. Part of him wanted to keep the officer from harm while another detested authority. Surging ahead he clipped the cruiser, sending it crashing into a fire hydrant just as the boss started speaking. Guy loves the sound of his own voice, is arrogant incarnate, and loves his machines. If I were the type to do soul searching I might look deeper into why I hate him, Tony thought. Puzzles Cheshire
