MISS MARTIAN
Real Name: M'gann M'orss
Alias: Miss Martian
Title: Last Daughter of Mars
Identity: secret
Age: 16 (in earth years)
Species: White Martian (poses as Green)
Physical Appearance: As a shapeshifter, M’gann's true form is unknown to nearly all. A martians true form is unknown to most, save for parents, immediate family, and possibly a select few very close friends and spouses.
M’gann's human form is that of the sitcom teenager 'Megan Wheeler' on the show "Hello, Megan!". For those unfamiliar with the show, 'Megan' is a good looking Caucasian girl with freckles on her cheeks, blue, green, or violet-purple eyes, shoulder length red hair, and a rounded, 'cute' sort of face, often described as 'Girl Next Door'. She is slightly taller than average at 5'8" and has a decently feminine body build.
In fashion, M’gann tends to dress in 1920s to 1960s era women's styles, or other conservative and generally timeless fashions, usually in shades of red, pink, purple, or blue, with yellow being a rarity and white being reserved for her superhero outfit. This is no doubt due to her being influenced by "Hello, Megan!", "Star Trek", "The Brady Bunch", and "Happy Days" as her first encounters with Earth culture.
~
As Miss Martian, she will often have grass green skin, and become slightly taller, standing at 5 foot ten inches to 6 feet even. In this form her eyes are either yellow or orange, and her hair with lengthen to about hip-length. For a hero outfit, she will often dress in a fitted white shirt, which features crossed red bandoleers forming an X, a blue miniskirt of some form, and (taking a bit of a cue from Batman and the Bat-Family) a red Molle pouch belt and red pouches, which contain potentially useful items.
This is accentuated with a large blue hooded cape and blue knee-high boots. Variants of her Miss Martian outfit generally switch to pants for practicality, and include Polar, which is the same elements cast in white and grays, and Night-ops, which changes the white to black, and the casts red and blue to much darker shades of those colors.
~
Her true form is that of a White Martian. In this 'White Xenomorph' form, she stands at about 8 feet tall, and with a proportion ratio of 10 to 11 heads tall, with noticeably long limbs, spine, and neck. Her body build is somewhat skeletal looking, with panels of external bone-plates, dagger-like bone-spurs at the wrist, elbow, and knee, and along her forehead in a dragon-like mohawk pattern, which then cascades down her back, and along her bony tail, which is a bit longer than her head-to-toe height, and is tipped with a very sharp and pointy dagger-like 'stinger'. Likewise, her tridactyl fingers and toes, though fully dexterous, are tipped with bone-claws and webbing between the fingers.
Her face is feline-like and very triangular, with a muzzle, two rows of sharp teeth, and sets of prominent fangs, and a long black tongue with a very defined 2 or 3 inch split. As in her Green Martian form, she cannot physically speak while in her White Martian form, and must rely on telepathy for communication.
Personality: M’gann is sweet, naive, and wilfully cheerful, but her naïveté is not to be mistaken for stupidity. She is reasonably quick to learn, and is sometimes quite creative. Having been raised on Tamaran, She has also adopted the Tamaranian personality trait of striving to be the best person she can be, and thus, she has a strong sense of justice, civility and politeness, fairness, kindness and compassion, and virtue.
As a space alien and an outsider, and in spite of watching at least Some earth TV shows and movies, she is still very new to Earth (especially post-9-11 earth). M’gann hopes that she learned enough 'local custom' through earth television, to not cause regular catastrophes.
To those she considers friends, M’gann is quite loyal and caring, willing to try to do anything to help them. She views fighting as a thing to be of lesser or last resort, and doesn't like it when her friends fight amongst themselves, and will often try her best to make peace and bring about happiness again. This is not to say that she is at all a pacifist; if or when necessary, she will kick butt and ask questions later, should the situation apparently call for it.
Powers:
Martian Physiology: As a Martian, M’gann has most of the many and varied powers typical of her race. They are the following:
- Shape-Shifting: M’gann can change her form to appear as anyone else of the same relative height and gender. Shapeshifting to a male form, however, requires more focus and effort for her, and she has an extremely hard time trying to mimic the form of inanimate objects and pieces of environment.
- Super Strength: M’gann can heft massive amounts of weight and mass for her normal size, easily hefting or catching common vehicles, and can even lift the weight of medium sized buildings (12 to 20 stories) when necessary. She can increase her strength by increasing her size, but this is very difficult and stressful for her to do.
- Enhanced Durability: While not as durable as J'onn, she is still fairly tough, able to handle significantly powerful blasts and impacts.
- Regeneration: M’gann is similarly not as invulnerable as the Justice League's heavy hitters, but she does have the ability to regenerate some wounds within the hour, and can come back from even the heaviest of would-be-lethal wounds anywhere from overnight, to about a week, depending on the severity of the injuries (and provided that she doesn't die before getting help). She can also regenerate lost limbs over the course of 6 months to a year, and can even come back from being otherwise totally disintegrated within a similar span of time, depending on how much of her is there.
- Flight: M'gann can levitate herself (and others) at great speeds. However, she cannot go past mach 3, never mind the speed of orbit (7 miles per second). Thusly, for faster speeds as well as exo-atmospheric/galactic missions, she would need the martian bioship.
- Super Speed: M'gann can run and react very fast, giving her excellent speeds and reaction times. However, she cannot match the capabilities of a true speedster such as The Flash or Impulse.
- Intangibility: She can turn herself to be slightly dissipated, allowing her to phase through solid objects (or vice versa). She is still vulnerable to electricity and other ambient energy attacks, as well as 're-phase' and psychic attacks.
- Invisibility: M’gann can change her transparency to become distinctly invisible in one to two spectrum categories, either in series or on opposite ends, from lower infrared to all of the UV and some of the X-ray spectrums.
- Psionic Blast/Shield: M’gann can emit psionic blast-orbs of electro-mental energy and force from her hands, and direct them with great accuracy and precision. She can also expand and bend these EM-orbs into round domes of various sizes and curvatures, and can hold them in place as shields to defend herself or others.
- Telekinesis: M’gann has a fairly well developed skill of telekinesis, and uses her telekinetic powers on a more or less daily basis, often routinely moving objects with her mind. She can move objects with a very high degree of precision and focus, and can telekinetically heft about as much as she can normally heft, thus supplementing her physiological super strength and allowing her, to, with both powers applied, lift nearly double the weight and mass than either power alone could let her achieve.
- Telepathy: M’gann is a powerful telepath. However, her telepathic abilities are raw and very basic, often being best applied with physical touch.
- Mental Illusions: She can create semi-realistic illusions which can fool a merely casual observer. A perceptive observer will notice that her illusions, however accurate or realistic, have a strong 'hi-res 3d' look to them.
- Mental Tracking: She can telepathically locate and track people within a certain radius-area of her position. (about 20 kilometers)
- Mental Shield: M'gann can mentally shield herself and 3 to 5 others from moderately active psychic detection and light attacks, or a single person from an onslaught of heavy psychic attacks.
- Influence Thoughts: She can influence thoughts, implanting suggestions that would predispose someone to coming to a certain conclusion about a topic or issue later on.
- Manipulate Memory: M'gann can re-emphasize or downplay certain already present memories, and in some cases, can alter some details of a memory.
- Astral Projection: M'gann can astrally go out of her body (especially at night or in sufficiently dark environments) and travel on the astral planes and dimensions, sometimes able to speak with other beings, magical or non-physical. During this time, her body is vulnerable to physical and magical attacks.
- Induce Sleep: She can induce sleep in someone, rendering them unconscious for up to 12 hours. Willful people can resist this.
- Mental Upload or Download of Information: M’gann can temporarily 'upload' or 'download' a skill or block of information to/from a person, which generally lasts a day, before her or the person goes to sleep, and they mostly forget the information or skill. Repeated downloadings of the same skill or information tends to make it last longer, and depending on the thing being uploaded or downloaded, and who is doing which, the mental info may last longer and longer. Eventually, however, the information will become permanent.
- Conversational Thought Projection/Reception: M'gann can receive and transmit shallow conversational thoughts from and to the minds of those she wants to 'speak' to, but who may be out of audible range. In her green and white Martian forms, this is her primary mode of 'speaking' as those forms of her do not naturally have vocal cords.
- Shut Down People's Minds/ Mind-Blast/ Mind-Wipe: M’gann can interrupt and shut down the thought processes of others' minds, to varying degrees and durations of lasting effects. On the lighter end, she can cause someone's mind to minutely stutter or become confused, but on "Full Blast", the person's mind is put to a very painful Full Stop, often being mentally shredded in the process, and leaving them a drooling vegetable. M’gann does not normally like to do this, as it is too mentally violent for her ethics and morality.
- Martian Vision: M’gann can focus her eyes and shift her vision into different spectrums of wavelengths, from microwaves, to Infrared, to color vision, Ultraviolet, and the 'softer' portion of x-rays. She can see telescopically to the horizon, near-microscopically, and can emit short laser-like or plasma-like blasts of kinetic energy from her eyes.
- Martian Breath: M’gann can use her lungs capacity to produce gusts of freezing wind, and can also hold her breath for long periods of time (about 3 to 4 hours).
- Extrasensory Input: M’gann's other four Martian senses (a total of 9) allows her to have a more defined understanding of some things / people around her.
Abilities:
M'gann is proficient with Tamaranean technology.
She is also very familiar with sitcom, tv series, and movie trivia and factoids.
M'gann has basic knowledge in piloting and astro-navigation.
She is skilled in mimicking the mannerisms and phrasing of people that she has observed over the span of about a week or longer. Adeptness increases with longer observation times.
She knows quite a bit about music composition and dancing.
Languages: Martian, Tamaranian, English
Weapons/Equipment: (Do they use any gadgets or other equipment?)
Bio-Adaptive 'Robeskin' Clothing: M’gann has 12 sets of adaptive ponchos and skirts which respond to her shapeshifting commands and suggestions, allowing her to have many many hundreds of 'outfits' of any attire or fashion needed. If cut, torn or otherwise damaged, the robe skin could heal, but at a significantly slower rate than M’gann, which would probably then necessitate an actual changing of clothes, rather than just shifting the appearance.
Martian Bioship: M’gann has an older Republic-era Martian Bioship. It has two forms, a Fighter form, and a much larger Cruiser form. Regardless of its form-size, it has energy shields, and, similar to M’gann and J'onn, the ability to cloak and go intangible, and heal itself at incredible speed.
- Fighter Form: The ship's fighter form is small, having a forward-set bridge/passenger area with a (usually) open archway to the grav-lift, a central grav-lift area, and a medical bay to the rear. In this form, it cannot achieve orbit and escape a planet's gravity, but it can go underwater to extreme depths.
- Cruiser Form: The ship's cruiser form, conversely, features a larger central grav-lift area near the bottom of the craft, a kitchen, a dining/ observation room in the forward part of the nose, a larger medical bay (again in the rear), 8 double-bunk rooms in the wing-spars (room for 16, maximum), and a larger bi-level bridge. The Cruiser Form also has a pair of electro-gravitic rings, which can magnetically envelope the craft in a shaped field, and propel the ship to FTL velocities and allow for intergalactic travel.
Happy M'gann
History: When the violence of the Martian Civil War was at its height and the White Martians were massacaring their Green cousins, M'gann's mother, Mir'Shaa M'orzz, a sister of J'onn J'onzz, sent her on a rocket to the Vega system to escape the civil war. Arriving in the Vega system, the pod was caught in the planet's gravity of Tamaran.
Living in Zoriss, she was taken in by an electronics maker, Sorota Rhi and his wife and son, and for a time, life was good.
As time went on, however, very bad news began to come out of Mars. The civil war had blown to full scale, wrapping around the entire planet. the stories were beyond unspeakably atrocious; death camps and procedural butcherings, fire-pits the size of small cities, and much worse. She could only briefly glance at the news articles, but even so, it was enough to make her curl up on the tile floor, vomit, and sob deeply. Sorota presumed that M’gann was a Green Martian, and did his best to comfort her.
M’gann swiftly became very uncomfortable with being a White Martian, and began to secretly hate herself. Seeing no choice but to identify as a Green Martian, she adopted a Green Martian form and disavowed that she was at all a White Martian.
Distracting herself away from the horrors of Mars, she began to learn more about Tamaranean technology and electronics, and began to build small music synthesizers, for awhile. After that, she sold her synthesizers to a Tamaranean who wanted them, and moved on to electron shooters, frequency modulators, waveform recorders, and vacuum tubes.
Soon enough, she discovered Earth TV programs and entertainment series. At first, she discovered "Hello, Megan!" and enjoyed it very much, latching on to the identity of Megan Wheeler.
After that, was The Brady Bunch, and then Happy Days. After those two series were apparently completed, she then discovered Star Trek (TOS), and became fascinated that Earthling Humans apparently had space-travel technology, and were encountering other races (such as Mr Spock, a 'Vulcan'), and surprisingly, were not very war-like. This was interspersed by .... Apparently a completely outrageous colorful fiction, involving exaggerated forms of imaginary creatures, who were very strange and more than a little violent. She found their barbaric antics to be at least a little amusing, particularly because they kept doing ironic and paradoxical things. (Looney tunes)
Growing bored of the crude antics, she switched her apparatus to other frequencies, and found a strange and wild tale of two men, one dark-skinned, and one light skinned, trying to get ..... something. She didn't really understand what was going on, as the plot seemed to be quite involved from one scene to another, with minimal connections. This would be later revealed to be the movie Pulp Fiction. It was so convoluted that she had to take notes, and decided to take notes on all earth broadcasts that she could view, since then.
Turning a knob, she then found a most interesting scene;
BIG BOLD YELLOW TEXT
Proclaiming something in Earth Text that she couldn't really read, which then
shifted to a scene of one spaceship chasing another, and then a scary black
armored man in a breathing helmet who was very angry and, looking for
something.
The two robots had it, and were escaping to a desert planet with the
thing, and then more people get involved in the story ....

She was very impressed with Star Wars' tale of the struggle of good vs. evil, set among the stars. She later managed to discover that it was divided into three parts. She enjoyed it very much, and wanted to know more about it. Hungry for more input on what earth was like, M’gann continued to toy with her apparatus, and receive new sounds and images from the blue sister-planet.
The next story she came across, was that of an earth boy, and a squat alien with a long neck and a squashed face. The boy did all kinds of things to help the short alien get back to his people. In the end, they were successful. This made Megan homesick for Mars again, which no news had come from for awhile.
Following trails of rumors, M’gann was morbidly shocked to apparently discover that the whole of Mars had apparently died. She was the Last Martian. She was aggrieved for some years, falling into a state of bleak sorrow, finding only hollow refuge in the earth broadcasts that she could dredge up. She was temporarily amused to discover that the colorful fiction of Peter Pan, was continued by the life-action of Hook, where Peter grew up, and went back to Neverland.
After awhile, she eventually came out of her depression, and resumed more actively going after Earth broadcasts. This time, she discovered what would be a Star Trek sequel, in an era after Kirk, Spock, and McCoy. This new Star Trek apparently featured characters named Picard, Riker, and Data.
Sometime after that, she happened upon a broadcast from Earth, showing a large green man! She was not alone anymore!
Right then, M’gann vowed and swore to herself to go to Earth and find this Martian Manhunter, and find out what happened, and if Mars was really as dead as they said it was. She managed to barter enough to get an older Martian Patrol Cruiser bioship, and after putting a few things on board, she said goodbye to her friends on Tamaran, and left for Earth...
On her way back to the SOL system, however, she encountered a cluster of asymmetric non-euclidean nested series of black holes, and got caught in the gravity fronts. Because her ship was using its FTL ring-drives, it followed the magnetic curvatures like a train on its rails, right down the throat of the black holes. After what seemed to be 300 years passing in the span of a blink, Megan and her ship emerged out of the exit aperture just fine.
Seeing no other reason to delay, she resumed her FTL course towards SOL.
Weaknesses:
Self-Loathing: M’gann, having seen third-handedly the horrors of what was wrought on Mars, well and truly hates that she is a White Martian. This one fact slowly gnaws away at her sometimes, stripping her self-esteem and confidence away thin layer by thin layer. She often temporarily escapes this by throwing herself into identifying with either Megan Wheeler, or as Miss Martian.
Fire/Heat Weakness: As a Martian, M’gann is physically vulnerable to fire, with flames (and ambient heat above a certain temperature) being increasingly deadly to her.
Pyrophobia: M’gann is also psychologically afraid of fire, with even small flames making her visibly nervous and hesitant.
Shape-shifting Weaknesses: M’gann is less skilled in shapeshifting, and cannot easily mimic inanimate non-humanoid-shaped objects. Mimicking the male physique is also difficult for her, rendering her less-able to shapeshift into the form of a man, either bigger or smaller than her, without notably more continual focus and effort.
Stranger in a Strange Land: While M’gann has gleaned some information about general earth culture from television, there was still quite a bit of culture shock when she actually arrived to Earth, to find it to be very much a radically different place. Thus, she is not always familiar with something that others would take for granted, such as some social situations, cultural slang, and M’gann might not be able to appropriately respond to a situation.
Cooking: M’gann likes to (try to) cook, and during her stay on Tamaran, made some .... interesting, recipes. Do not let this girl into a kitchen to cook for others .... Just, No !
Other Information:
Chocolate!!: M’gann is rather obsessed with chocolate in its many forms, from candy bars to desserts, and even the shaken milk chocolate (which according to one song, has the ability to convince men to gather in a yard or atrium.... No idea why, though.). Her favorite forms of chocolate are The Double Fudge Chunk chocolate ice cream Sunday (she has no clue why it is called a day of the week), and, once they are introduced to her by her uncle J'onn, Chocos.
Television: M’gann is fascinated by TV shows and movies, as there is no known likeness of the technology on Tamaran, and from what she remembers of Martian culture, stories and tales of entertainment are more involved of either text, or directly into the mind. She also has something of a tendency to think that television is, to some extent, true.
Music and Dancing: M’gann likes music and dancing, especially because it was one of her favorite pastimes on Tamaran. On Tamaran, she had experimented with analog synthesizer technologies, before expanding and moving onto television technologies.
