DAMIAN WAYNE
Real Name: Damian
Alias: Robin
Title: Better Boy Wonder
Identity: Secret
Age: 8
Species: Human
Physical Appearance:
Damian Wayne can be easily described as short and grumpy. Standing at a not-so-intimidating 3'7" and at a whopping 60 pounds this boy is pretty much a lightweight. He's not built like a lightweight though. Damian Wayne has been training physically all his life, and it shows. While his muscles are not as pronounced as they would be on a full adult, it is obvious that the boy is in peak physical condition. He is still young though, and still has a lot of his babyfat. Especially around his face.
The boy looks a lot like his father. He has bright blue eyes, dark black hair, and a face that will grow to be classically handsome. As far as clothing is concerned, Damian tends to favor practicality above all else. The only impractical thing he will indulge in is his hood, which he likes because he thinks it makes him look mysterious. When wearing civilian clothing he can often be seen in hoodies with the hood drawn up, and earbuds in his ears.
While Damian might be physically tiny, he doesn't quite give the air of weakness. The boy looks tough as nails. It probably entirely boils down to his posture, the way he stands stiff like a soldier, or even his tendency to glare at people like they just insulted him. The is no one on Earth who moves quite like Damian. He has the sort of walk, and demeanor, that can be easily picked out whether he means for it to be that obvious or not. Because he worked through every fighting move until it was absolutely perfect when he was a child, Damian moves in a very cold and calculated fashion. Every movement he makes is with purpose. He doesn't move erratically or get excited like other children his age.
Personality:
Describing Damian Wayne in a single word is easy. That word would be: brat. Damian is a hard person to get to know, and a hard person to like. He is violent, self important, precocious, arrogant, and spoiled. The boy is blunt and to the point, it doesn't matter who he's talking to. He also only gives respect to people he feels have earned it. When faced with something he doesn't understand his first instinct is to usually provoke it. He gets into fights quickly, often too quickly, and his ego is large enough that it routinely clashes with everyone around him. It probably also doesn't help that killing is his first thought process, something ingrained into him by the League. If you give him the chance, Damian will hurt you. He also strikes to kill. Always.
Facts are very important to Damian. Emotions and people are not quite as important. This boy does everything based on logic. He's not going to put his emotions into his actions, unless you piss him off (rage is the exception). He also doesn't understand why people put so much stock in emotions either. Damian doesn't show emotions like your average little boy. People find it difficult to be around Damian, because he doesn't act like they expect someone his age to act. He shows affection differently. He also works hard to put into practice the things other people want him to do, to make them proud, which is why he is such a deadly little weapon: Talia and his League mentors wanted that.
When Damian is frightened, and it actually happens more often then he likes to let on, he reacts by becoming more of a brat. He will lash out, act incredibly immature (in a deadly way), and pick fights with everyone and anyone. Acting callous is one of the ways Damian hides his fears, especially his emotional ones. Like any other bird, Damian puffs up when he feels threatened. So, if he's acting more obnoxious then usual, it probably means he's anxious.
Because of the way he was raised Damian has problems dealing with people on a personal level. Almost everyone he meets has to fit into a specific category: enemy, rival, mentor, or partner. Because of this his friendships are strained, almost curious experiences. He obviously wants to be like other children, and make friends, but he's not entirely sure how he ought to go about doing this. Damian does have his moments where his innocence and immaturity shine through. It becomes fairly obvious in these instances that a lot of his bravado is a cover for insecurity. Somewhere, under all the spikes and quills, is a little boy that simply wants to be accepted. A lot of the things he does is because he is afraid that his father won't love him, or the people he calls friends won't want anything to do with him if he doesn't measure up.
Powers: Bratishness - I'm just kidding. None.
Abilities:
MIMICRY
Damian can imitate anyone's voice and speech patterns perfectly if he has heard them talk at length. It is a good skill for
HAND TO HAND COMBAT/MARTIAL ARTS
Damian Wayne knows how to handle himself in a fight. He was trained by his mother, and the League of Assassins. Damian knows just as many martial arts as his father. His own opinion is that he uses them more effectively. While he isn't physically very tough he knows exactly how to attack for maximum damage and can use what little weight he has effectively. This kid is the only Robin ever allowed to fight with a hood. He has proven, multiple times, that he can fight without seeing his opponents. Despite being the youngest of Bruce's children, Damian is one of the most skilled for his age. He likes to brag that he knows a thousand ways to kill a man. I wouldn't question it, unless you've got a death wish.
STEALTH
Possibly due to his extensive training with the League of Assassins, Damian is one of the stealthiest Wayne kids. Training with the League of Assassins has basically turned him into a mini-ninja. The little Wayne understands the shadows nearly as well as his father, and is a sneaky little twerp. He is also the most silent of the children who will ever inhabit Wayne Manor.
WEAPONS
While the League taught him the absolute basics of every weapon in it's arsenal Damian has been extensively trained in swordsmanship and throwing. When properly armed he can usually hold his own against most swordsmen(or women) he crosses. The boy was also trained in the use of shuriken and throwing knives by the League. He is currently learning, with Dick's help, how to use some less lethal weapons. Damian isn't sure why they are called that. He's pretty sure he could murder somebody with a birdarang given a chance.
DRIVING/FLYING/MECHANIC
Damian has been driving since the League thought he could manage it. Whether he can see and reach the pedals is debatable depending on the model of the car but he knows how to drive it. Or at least, he thinks he does. The same goes for aircraft. He's an accomplished pilot...on his mother's machines. Damian is also a skilled mechanic and can follow schematics to the letter. Or improve them if they're stupid. He'll tell you.
INTELLECTUAL
Talia and the League did not just hone Damian's body to be the perfect weapon. They also extensively worked on his mind. He has been taught the classics, claims he would have earned a phd in archaeology if Talia hadn't murdered his professor, and has enough of an understanding in most languages to get by. The boy is only perfectly fluent in Arabic and English, but sometimes English phrases still confound him and he hasn't quite gotten puns yet. To prepare for being with Batman he was educated in forensics, disguise (he's still terrible at this), escapology, acrobatics, criminology, and general detective work. His mother even taught him a little bit about business. He still has a lot to learn, however, even if he thinks he doesn't.
Weapons/Equipment:
ROBIN SUIT
Damian's Robin suit is the most practical one to date minus the hood. It consists of a kevlar, armored tunic and pants made of the same material. They're bullet-proof, with strap-on armor in strategic places: chest, knees, shins, neck. He has green combat boots and assassin gloves with hardened knuckles and toes and improved grip/traction. As for functionality, the suit protects the wearer from the elements. It is made of Nomex fire-resistant, triple weave Kevlar-lined material. It also has built in lock picks, for escaping sticky situations easily.
ROBIN PARA-CAPE
When his battery is sufficiently charged Damian's cape is capable of having an electric current flow through it to stabilize the fabric into a gliding shape. He can use this for controlled glides back down to the ground, but not for sustained flight.
ROBIN MASK
Damian's mask has different lens settings that, at the turn of a dial, allow for him to have things like nightvision, clarity in fog or smoke, and the ability to see heat signatures.
ROBIN BELT WITH GEAR
His belt, which is a string of large compartments, contains at least a few of the following: Birdarangs, rebreather, smoke pellets, tear gas, collapsible bostaff, flash grenade, Bat-com unit, grappling gun, tracers, and lock picks.
STABBY THINGS
Damian generally has on his person things that Batman disapproves of. He always has at least one throwing knife hidden somewhere on him. It comes in handy. He has a pair of brass knuckles that Batman does not approve of as well, but that Damian has pulled out on numerous occasions in order to get people to talk. Brass knuckles to the face have that effect. Damian also has a Katnana.
History:
Damian's earliest memories involve training. Even as a tiny child, barely able to walk, he was being groomed for the greatness he would one day become. He grew up idolizing his mother, Talia al Ghul, and his grandfather who had him trained with the League of Assassins. The boy learned from only the best tutors, practicing each new skill obsessively until it was perfection. He learned to kill at a young age and was put through more rigorous training then is probably healthy, or sane, to put a child through. Still, Damian was a happy, curious child who delighted in the attention of his elders.
Of course, not all was perfect in Damian's little kingdom. He was missing a vital part of his family: a father. Alexander the Great, after all, had a father. Damian deserved one too. The boy was very curious about who his father was, and asked constantly enough that his mother made him a deal: if he could beat her in a spar, then he was ready to meet his father. Every year, for his birthday, Damian would fight his mother for the right to meet Father. Every year he failed. Until his eighth birthday. At the age of eight he finally bested her in a spar (though, whether this was pure luck or Talia letting him win is undetermined) and then she began to work with him on the plan for meeting his father.
After a confrontation with some Man-Bat-Ninjas in England, Bruce was introduced to his son. Damian was brought to Gotham to see the BatCave and meet the rest of the family only to discover that his place at Father's side was already occupied. Almost immediately Damian battled Tim, who he saw as a rival, for the position of Robin. This forced Batman to ground Damian. Unperturbed, the boy managed to escape, don a variant of the Robin costume made of various costumes he found around the Batcave, and get into a fight with his first villain: Spook, who he quickly decapitated. Bruce decided that Damian was not ready to be out on the field yet.
Batman lost his choice in the matter when he died. Damian was ready to go and fulfill his destiny. He claimed his father's cowl for himself, vying against the lesser sons, and got his butt kicked. Damian lost the battle to Dick, and was given the Robin mantle over Tim who obviously wasn't good enough. Though, Dick inheriting custody over Damian might have had something to do with it. The new partnership between Dick and Damian was strained at first, but it easily grew into something wonderful after Dick saved the kid's life during a mission. During this time Damian began to really grow, and learned more of what it meant to be a hero. Even if it was still inane.
Damian enjoyed being Dick's new pet project in the way a child who has never had affection only could. Despite his grumblings and growlings he realized that Dick wasn't simply standing in his way but the man actually cared about him in a way that his mother and grandfather never had. Between Alfred and Dick the little boy was starting to really understand the meaning of family. Then he got jilted again because he wasn't the
Her name was Mar'i and she was stupid. That was his initial impression, and he mostly didn't want anything to do with her. Still, Dick and Kory kept insisting that they interact. That Damian needed to learn how to be a child, and that she was apparently the one to teach him. Which was stupid. Damian didn't feel that he needed to learn to be a child anymore than he needed to learn to be a cow. And it wasn't like he was taking lessons from Batcow! Besides, if he had to hear any more about how amazing and wonderful she was he was going to blow a gasket.
She was there for the entire summer which was basically like if eternity was set on fire and praised for being so sweet and very smart instead of the total horror that it actually was. Damian spent the warm season hating her existence and enjoying how quickly he could get her to run away by saying something absolutely awful to her. It got him grounded from a bunch of patrols, but it was totally worth it.
Fall was coming, though, and the sanctuary of a new school year would relegate her terrible visits to weekends. It was one of the last weekends of the summer, before she was going to be shipped off for hopefully forever, when they got the coolest visitor ever. His name was Rip Hunter and he introduced a pair of awed children to the brainbending concept of a multiverse. Of course Damian understood it right away. Shut up.
He and Dick went off to do some cool Batman thing. Damian was left behind, which was totally unfair, but it also meant that he got the chance to inspect the cool space-time sphere. And borrow it. Obviously. He'd been taught how to fly by his mother. This one couldn't be that difficult. His inspections caught Mar'i's attention, and while he didn't necessarily want to have to deal with her he also had to admit he liked the way she looked at him with awe when he insisted that he could fly it. No problem.
They could see some dinosaurs, meet Alexander the Great, and be back in time for dinner.
To meet Alexander the Great they were going to need disguises. Which meant raiding the linen closet for a pair of make-shift togas. Once suitably dressed like a pair of eight year olds going to a frat party Damian climbed into the jet, let her follow him, and set the ignition. Everything was going fine as the little boy piloted the sphere into the space-time stream. He was totally confident that he knew what he was doing...until he suddenly didn't.
An alarm went off. It's purpose was unknown, but it started a chain reaction that ended with them falling out of the space-time stream and crashlanding in an unknown location.
Weaknesses:
I AM HUMAN WATCH ME STAB THINGS
Damian Wayne is an eight year old human. He might have been trained to resist showing the effects of pain or general damage for longer then your average eight year old but when it comes down to it: you shoot him, he dies, you cut off his head, he dies. He could also get pneumonia and die. So lots of things can kill him.
SMALL AND
Damian is tiny. He's also eight years old. There's honestly not much getting around these facts when you take into consideration that he isn't old enough to function without adult care and supervision. He might think he's grown up, but he obviously isn't. He is entirely reliant on the adults around him, whether he wants to admit it or not. He is also a tiny little eight year old. The kid might know how to throw around his body weight, and he can certainly take people by surprise, but if he's going up against a skilled fighter he doesn't stand much of a chance unless he takes them down quickly and by surprise.
TINY BALL OF RAGE
Damian has a terrifying anger that is always simmering just under the surface. He doesn't always act on this anger, but it's there, and it can easily be used against him. The boy can be easily drawn into fights against his better judgement. He is also just really difficult to get along with.
I DON'T KNOW HOW TO PEOPLE
This kid doesn't have terribly fantastic social skills. By that I mean they're crap. He has absolutely no idea how to go about dealing with other people, but he desperately wants to. Even though he acts like a loner and will rail against attention he wants to be accepted. His greatest fear is that the people he wants most to be accepted by will hate him and he will spend his short life alone. He desperately wants his father's approval, and to one day live a life without the violence that is all he has ever known.
Other Information:
- Damian has a speech tic where he makes a clicking or "TT" noise often.
- The youngest Wayne is an artist, he has proven to be very proficient with drawing.
- He also likes animals and has adopted a small menagerie.
- He also has a penchant for hanging upside down from things and startling people.
- He plays, but does not necessarily enjoy, the violin.
