Physical Appearance: Scarecrow's outfit is based on his namesake, having the mouth of his mask stitched shut, and a cut off Noose around his neck. Dressed in stitched black clothing, including a long trenchcoat. A hood covers the top portion of his head, with a gas mask incorporated into the Scarecrow mask, and a specially designed gauntlet is equipped onto his right glove.



Personality: Cold and calculating, Jonathan Crane cares for nothing aside from his research. He is willing to do whatever it takes to continue his studies, wether it be experimenting on others, stealing resources or funding, or even murdering those who would stand in his way. He has a bit of a love-hate relationship with Batman. Constantly cursing how he foils all of his evil schemes, yet the fear he feels when being chased by or fighting Batman is when he feels most alive.



Powers: While having no powers himself, Scarecrow has shown in the past to be capable of wielding a Sinestro Corps ring. However he no longer has access to one, but could potentially wield one again if given the chance.

Abilities: Jonathan Crane is a skilled Psychologist and Chemist. A expert in the study of fear and phobias, he uses this knowledge to manipulate and torture his victims and foes. Having developed a variety of serums that can induce fear based hallucinations. He also has some practice fighting with a scythe, but no formal training of any sort.


Weapons/Equipment: Jonathan Crane developed a brand new toxin that when injected into an individual, or inhaled, will cause them to hallucinate their greatest fears. Some varient mixtures are even strong enough to induce heart attacks in it's victims. Scarecrow wears a specially designed gauntlet on his right arm that is fitted with small syringes above his fingertips that allow him to inject someone with his specially designed fear toxin. He also has various methods of spraying his fear gas around a large area, both a sprayer connected to the palm of his gauntlet, as well as gas grenades hidden inside his cape. Often he will also use a scythe if forced into a phyical confrontation.



History: Jonathan Crane was born out of wedlock, but neither of his parents wished to have a child, and thus was left to be raised by his strictly religous great-grandmother, Keeny Crane. Keeny Crane held a seething hatred for the boy, due to her religious beliefs that it is a sin to bear a child before marriage. This led to Jonathan being forced to work long days taking care of the fields aroud his house, and being forbidden from recreational activities, most specifically halloween and recreational reading. Disobeying his great-grandmother would result in Jonathan being brought to an abandoned aviary near his home, where his grandmother would soak his clothing in a pheramone mixture to attract hungry crows who would scratch and claw him.This, combined with being bullied at school drove Jonathan mad. Raiding his great-grandmother's chemicals, he poisned her to death, while nearly blinding his main bully at school.

In Highschool Crane developed a love of reading and chemistry, but also gained several degrading nicknames, such as Ichabod and of course, Scarecrow. In his senior year he would ask out his crush Sherry, only for her to set up an elaborate prank with her supposedly ex boyfriend to scare Crane. Once again having enough, Crane dressed up as a Scarecrow, and preformed his idea of a "Prank" Scaring the couple with a handful of cherry bombs while they were driving, leading to an accident that killed Sherry, and paralyzed her boyfriend. While Crane laughed with glee.

Moving onto Collage, Crane studied Psychology and Chemistry. Eventually creating his signature fear toxin, which he used to kill his professor to gain his position and title. After being fired for firing a gun in class to scare his students, getting a low paying employee job at Arkham where he would terrorize the inmates, Crane decided to dedicate himself to a life of crime, getting revenge on those he deemed had wronged him before meeting his arch nemesis, The Batman. However this Scarecrow was unlike most, since after only a few months of fighting Batman, he would awake from his cell in Arkham to find himself in his Great-Grandmother's old run down mansion. It didn't take long for Crane to realize the new world upon which he found himself, and it was even less till he realized with glee he had a whole new world of fears to study and exploit....


Weaknesses: While Scarecrow may be a master of the mind, he is not a truly adept in physical combat. Having developed his own style of fighting. He can hold his own, but is outclassed by most fighters with formal training. He can also be easily manipulated by others with the promise to advance his studies or provide an interesting research oppertunity. Many other villains could persuade him to their cause this way. Depsite being the master of fear Scarecrow does have one fear of his own, the one and only Batman. While he may take glee from his fear in the bat, it is still a fear he must face. Scarecrow also suffers from near-sightedness, needing prescription glasses, lenses of which are incorporated into his Scarecrow mask. Without one of these his vision is impaired.
