CHARACTER RULES
Want to make a character? That's great! Here are some simple, short rules regarding character creation:
- Due to the unique setting of WIO, characters from Alternate Universes ARE allowed. For example, if you want to app a character from a particular arc -- let's say Arkham Knight Red Hood or New 52 Harley Quinn -- you can! Or, if you wish to make an amalgam from multiple universes -- say New 52 Harley Quinn but with elements from the comics -- you can do that too. *If unsure of what is and isn't acceptable, please contact an admin via PM*
- HOWEVER, there cannot be multiples of the same character on the site. Since Wonder Woman is already taken, the Flashpoint Wonder Woman cannot be applied for.
- Character's histories do not have to match up. This unique setting allows for characters that know each other, are from the same universe, but come from different points in their timeline. So corroboration between character histories is NOT required, however we do ask that you keep this distinction very clear in your application
- Characters that have the same alias but are different people can be applied for. For example, Batman from Flashpoint is Thomas Wayne, not Bruce Wayne. This number of alternate characters this way will be carefully limited depending on the scope of the site. Ask an admin before applying.
- Only one character per account. When applying for a new character, logout from your account. Then create a new profile with the appropriate display name of the character you want to apply for next.
- To make a character application, start a new thread in the appropriate character applications board. You must use the character creation template. Name the subject as the name of your character, and copy the template given in the 'Character Creation Template' then fill it out. Unless your application is completely finished before you post the thread, please put [WIP] in the title.
- When your character application is done and ready to be reviewed by an admin, please remove the [WIP] from the title.
- Character applications may need to undergo some changes, which will be PM'd to you by an admin. No applications will be accepted until they meet the standards of the site.
- Before applying for an additional character you must have a 10 post count limit with the character you already have. This is not cumulative between all your accounts -- it must be with the newest character.
- We expect you to post at minimum once a month, per character. Failure to keep up with activity requirements will result in possible loss of that character. If you cannot keep up with character posts, you are free to drop a character at any time.
- If you will be unable to post for a longer period of time, or wish to drop a character, please make a thread in the Absences board. This will keep you exempt from activity rules and you will not risk losing your character.
- When FIRST joining the site, you may have 2 canon characters -- one from DC and one from Marvel -- OR you may apply for ONE original character. The choice is yours.
- You may have up to 10 characters.
- When you have reached 10 posts, you may unlock another character slot and apply for an additional character.
CHARACTER ARTWORK
- No animated gifs are allowed.
- Using comic artwork is encouraged. If you need help finding any, please as a staff member.
- For face claims, please see the special board and rules HERE.
- Hover avatar sizes are 400 x 250px. Button avatars are 100 x 100px
- You cannot use any fanart, original or otherwise, unless you have gained the express permission of the original artist and you must provide a small link back to the artists preferred profile or gallery. This link-back is non-negotiable.
- Anime and manga artwork is allowed, but not preferred. We would like you to use more realistic manga artwork if possible. This is subject to admin discretion and we will help you find artwork if you desire.
