Despite these shortcomings Eddie is also a deeply caring and religious individual who strongly believes that the innocent need protecting. unfortunately for those that would cause harm to the innocent, brock believes in protecting them with lethal force, indulging both his own psychosis and the symbiote's violent nature in the process. That relationship is also one eddie protects, by keeping the symbiote happy whenever possible, even if that means allowing it to snack on human brains now and then.
The symbiote itself can and does take up its own agendas making it a constant guessing game as to whether or not the symbiote is under control or merely using brock as a puppet. Despite its bond with brock it hates peter parker for rejecting it but would jump at a chance to rebond with the host it truly desires. Its own relationship with brock is complicated by him being its second choice and the symbiote not always agreeing with the balance struck between between itself and its current host.
Powers:superhuman strength: the symbiote increses his strength making him slightly stronger than spider-man, adding to brock's already impressive physical attributes.
superhuman durability- the symbiote is highly resistant to many forms of attack, able to protect the host from gunfire, stabbing, and even some superhuman powered attacks.
superhuman stamina and healing factor: the symbiote allows eddie to survive in usually harmful environments protecting him from intense cold, toxic gases, and even allowing him to breath underwater by filtering air for the host. additionally the symbiote heals normally lethal injuries and illnesses including cancer, being impaled, and has been known to purge toxins from its system almost immediately.
genetic memory: a slight psychic ability allows the symbiote to keep the memories of past hosts and to pick up information by touching individuals. this also extends to allowing it to sense out other symbiotes, especially if they are related.
spider-man power replication: the symbiote replicates all of parker's powers including wall-crawling, generating an organic webbing, and enhanced flexibility.
matter generation and shapeshifting- in addition to webbing venom can cause parts of the symbiote to jut out as tendrils which he can also sharpen when needed. on occasion pieces of the symbiote can detach and still be controlled by the greater whole. this ability extends to stretching and deforming itself, getting larger or snaking through tight areas as a sentient ooze.
camouflage: the symbiote can mimic any piece of clothing or even other people and can bend light around it to blend in with its surroundings.
esp: the symbiote can see out of every portion of its being, allowing it a type of early warning system that is similar to, but more precise than spider-man's spider-sense.

Eddie Brock Venom-comicsAbout:
Personality:
Eddie is smart, strong willed, and inquisitive (he was after all a reporter) but he is also highly unstable, an issue exacerbated by his bonding to the symbiote. with great rage inside and an inability to accept personal responsibility, he is highly dangerous, blaming all but himself for his own failures and lashing out at those he believe persecute him, often in violent fashion. once he has made up his mind about something it is near impossible to sway him. feeling he has been betrayed by nearly everyone in his life he trusts nobody save the symbiote, the only entity he feels he can trust as a partner.Despite these shortcomings Eddie is also a deeply caring and religious individual who strongly believes that the innocent need protecting. unfortunately for those that would cause harm to the innocent, brock believes in protecting them with lethal force, indulging both his own psychosis and the symbiote's violent nature in the process. Weapons / Equipment:
Although eddie is familiar with using firearms as well as anti-symbiote weaponry, he does not typically carry such items, but may use them if found in the field.Powers:

Weakness:
Fire and sonics: the symbiote is immune to many things, but high frequency sonics and intense fire/heat are severely damaging, enough so that it may actually flee from its host if bombarded with these kinds of assaults.
mental instability: brock is psychotic at times and may easily revert to his "lethal protector" persona. As such he doesn't always think things through and can be manipulated into a psychotic rage by a clever opponent.
Loneliness: brock fears being alone and is terrified of the symbiote abandoning him, leaving him to be normal and thus lesser.

History:
Eddie brock was a star reporter for the daily globe until the day he allowed shortsightedness and ambition to take precedent over proper reporting. Spider-man captured the actual sin-eater killer, contradicting the front page report Brock had filed. it resulted in his being fired and blackballed from the industry. his life then continued to spiral out of control when his wife filed for divorce. alone, destitute, and with no future thanks to (in his mind) the evil of Spider-man, brock went to church fully planning to kill himself.
it was at the peak of this depression, just before he attempted suicide, that Peter parker rid himself of the symbiote atop the church, using the cathedral's bell to generate the sonics necessary to repulse the symbiote. The symbiote, in pain, rejected, and angry dripped onto eddie brock, inadvertently saving him from killing himself. Together the two became venom and vowed to destroy peter parker and spider-man.
after several clashes with the wallcrawling hero and time spent in jail, brock eventually rebonded with the symbiote and even worked alongside his hated enemy, helping Spider-man defeat the symbiotes offspring, the psychotic carnage. eventually coming to something of a truce with spider-man, he left new york and took his own brand of lethal justice to san francisco where he worked to protect the homeless population. At one point venom even found himself working for a shadowy government agency in exchange for his freedom.
It was during this time that the so-called "lethal protector" was sent on a mission to recover a dangerous piece of technology rumored to be able to rend the fabric of dimensions. What he did not realize is that the entire mission was a setup. manipulated by his government handlers into touching the tech, he found himself sucked through a portal, the government figuring that venom was too unstable to control and thus better off as some other dimension's problem.
