Timeline: TBD Previous Threads: N/A Characters Involved: Raven Dragon Warrior NPC's Location: cult guildhouse The smell of the rain still lingered in the air as an unwelcoming breeze whispered in the evening sky. A few bodies crackled and smoldered, small flames still licking at their charred flesh. Those that did survive could only stare at the entity before them. Breaths short and rapid due to panic having fully set in, one of the ragged-dressed men forced himself to stand, his leg twisted sideways due to broken bones. Mustering up what little courage he could, the cultist lunged at the nephalim, thrusting his silver blade forward, hoping to end the reign of agony. His actions fell short however, as with a few words whispered from his target, his arms burst into flames hot enough to sear the flesh off and melt the dagger. Walking towards the two men, Sellictor let out a growl as he stepped on a charred bone, cracking it with ease. " I will ask you one last time." the half-demon stated, grabbed the man by his shirt, lifting him up. " Where is the girl." The man, too stunned to answer, could only let out a few whimpers. Annoyed with the lack of response, the ancient man grabbed his victim by the neck. The flesh started to smoke and bubble as the heat burned the throat closed, causing the cult member a slow, agonizing death. Looking towards the other man, Sellictor glared at him. "in-in the main house! She'll be saved soon! You can't stop us!" " You and I have very different ideas of being saved." the half-demon retorted. His eyes glowed a soft yellow, "Fierlos Forssol." The once stubborn cult follower instantly cried out in agony as his body ignited into flames, filling the air with the sickeningly robust smell of burning flesh. Several weeks were spent hunting down the daughter of the witch. While they are people he usually helps out, there are a few exceptions. Miss Rosedea was not only an old friend, but someone that helped the demon find artifacts on occasion. When she came to the short-fused worker, it was obvious she was desperate and, thus he accepted to aide her. Taking a few steps towards the old structure, the nephalim paused. Something seemed off. A distinct lack of immediate guards. Giving out a low, demonic growl, the sound of a shrub being brushed whispered from his left, turning towards it, he was about to release a fireball when suddenly, a sharp, burning pain pierced his leg. An arrow ripped through his calf and the searing sensation could only mean one thing: Holy water. The ambush was all to perfect. The instant he tried to flee, a holy trap was deployed, ensnaring the angered sorcerer. A chuckled emanated from the side of him as a man dressed in a silvered, scaled chest plate walked up to him. "Ahh, Sellictor Nervain, the famed demonic magician.... you are all too predictable. Your love of the damned is your biggest downfall..." " If I wanted to hear some annoying bastard, I would've put on talk radio." "Jokes, huh? Well, let's see how funny you are when you're burned alive. Throw this damned soul in the church's dungeon."

Raven wasn't sure where she was. Her attempts to mentally scan the area brought her no results. No one familiar. This whole world felt... wrong. Her attempts to reach other dimensions were also met with walls that could not be penetrated, as though she were in a glass jar. She couldn't figure it out and when Raven could not figure something out it worried her. Where was her team? This was supposedly San Francisco but she could not sense them anywhere. The buildings looked different, Titans Tower was nowhere to be found. The best guess she could take was that she was no longer on her Earth, yet she couldn't reach Azarath or anywhere else. If so, she was stuck, until she could find some clues, possibly a ritual if it came to that. She had to remain calm... ...which was impossible when she could feel pain nearby, and terror, and righteous fury... Whatever was going on, even with her predicament, Raven could not let an innocent life be in danger. Taking to the air she flew off in the direction of the sensations her empathic powers were feeling. Sure enough they got stronger till it was practically a headache and she had to filter it out. A building of some kind, unassuming but probably intentionally so. Rachel could sense a dark presence inside, and evil intent... and also a frightened young life. Closing her eyes, the Teen Titan opted that going through the front door was probably not the best option and floated to a window, gazing inside and seeing no one, she focused her power and teleported through the wall, reappearing from a pitch black portal that formed on the other side... ...Just in time to look down from the rafters at a man being held in some kind of binding circle. She could sense something in him, something dark like what she herself carried since birth, but the evil did not come from him... rather from the men around him, the men wearing things that contrasted their intent. Even then she was proof that a darkness did not always make one inherently evil but rather what they chose to do with it. The young soul was nowhere to be found. She overheard the conversation as she remained hidden. The captive seemed helpless, and these malicious men had full power over him. The so-called magician, whom she sensed an old soul, decidedly the good guy, she had to take action. Focusing, Raven was engulfed by her own shadow, which took the form of a black birdlike silhouette that glided down to the ground, and Raven stepped forward, her cloak billowing and her eyes glowing beneath the shroud of her hood. "AZARATH METRION ZINTHOS!" she cried out as a bolt of black eldritch energy shot from her hand at the armored man in an attempt to blast him off his feet. TAG Sellictor Nervain

Sellictor looked at the direction of the blast just as it struck its target, launching the man through a wall. Almost immediately, in retaliation, several men charged at both the demon spawn and the cloaked woman. Clicking his tongue in annoyance, Sellictor raised his hand. "Fierlos Treaybonthus!" However, instead of a blast of fire, only a few embers emerged. With the holy water still in his system and the presence of a sacred location, the sorcerer's powers were greatly diminished. To say it was an inconvenience would be an understatement. This is probably one of the worst places he could lose his magic. As one of the men swung their blade at him, Sel was able to jump back, narrowly avoiding getting struck. As the sword passed him, he was able to see a slight glint of the metal. Silver. That only confirmed his suspicions. These were skilled warriors that knew what they were doing. Another swing came back at him. Reaching down to his waist, the nephalim drew a large hunting knife. Not his favorite tool to use for combat, for now, it would have to work. Having it held in place just in the nick of time, the two blades clashed together, the strike was strong enough to almost cause Nervain to lose his grip. " Fierlos!" The edge of the large knife ignited in flames. While not as hot as he'd like, it was enough to make it a lot more dangerous. With the silver sword being swung at him a third time, he barely had time to react, flipping the dagger around, the half-demon used it to deflect the blow once more, this time, using the longer weapon as a guide rail, he swung down, cutting the man's hand before, in the same motion, swing behind and plunging the metal deep into the man's neck, killing him instantly. Turning to glare at the woman, he let out a sneer. " I don't recall asking the circus to send one of their roadies." There was something lingering in his mind, however. What she chanted when she fired the blast. While it's difficult to sense it due to his current situation, but, is it possible that she used magic? Shaking his head, he dismissed the idea. The nephalim studied all types of magic, even those he personally couldn't use. He's never heard of a magic like that, especially one that requires that particular chant. Turning his back to the girl, he started walking towards the "chapel". " Get out of here, twerp. I have a little witch I need to rescue and I don't need your dumbass getting in the way. I work alone when it comes to sh*t like this." Raven

"AZARATH METRION ZINTHOS!" Raven cried out, louder this time and a wave of black eldritch power flew from her as she spread her arms out in a fanning motion, sending several of the cultists flying. The Teen Titan turned and thrust her hand forward, a pair of pitch-black spheres of magic flew at several more of the incoming foes. She showed little regard for the cultists being killed, she may have avoided taking lives, but she wasn't about to disrupt a tense fight and endanger them both by complaining about the other man's methods. Instead she focused on the fight at hand, firing eldritch blast after eldritch blast at every incoming foe. The man made a joke about her, the teen rolled her eyes. "Is it really the time for that?" she asked. One nearly got the drop on them, one with a sword, hurriedly, Raven held her hands forward and her shadow changed, forming into a pitch black raven that enveloped her with its wings, stopping the blade in its tracks and causing the man to lose balance before Raven's soul self retracted its wings and flew at the swordsman, slamming him into the wall across the room before it dissipated. The threat neutralized, for now, anyway, till reinforcements arrived, the man proceeded to express his "gratitude" and it caused Raven's brow to furrow. She couldn't get completely angry, his behavior was... honestly... exactly like hers had once been before she grew close to her fellow Titans. Still, as someone who had grown out of that and learned to value her teammates, no, friends, it struck a nerve a little, maybe also just her own disappointment that she had once been this way, too, and it had done nothing for her. For her, it had been out of fear her curse would hurt them, she didn't know this one's reason. "If I hadn't shown up you'd have been killed. And I'm not here for you, I'm here for the one I can sense trapped here as well," she replied. "I'm not leaving till she's safe."Her words were not meant as a challenge, simply her asserting herself. She'd faced down her father, and countless supervillains, this man wasn't about to bully her. "Bickering won't save her so let's just get this done," she replied firmly, levitating into the air and attempting to get a lock on where she could sense the girl's presence. Nothing. She would need more or all she would be able to get was that she was here. "Do you know her name? Have a picture? Anything?"

Wiping the dagger on his pants, he transferred the blood from the weapon to his clothing before sheathing it. Glaring at the woman, there was something there. He could sense it, it was faint, but still noticeable. Was it possible though? He has never seen a type of magic like that. And he could've sworn that only a handful of his kind remained, apart from Megan. But, he couldn't mistake what he was feeling. The dark aura of a twisted and tortured past. The pained spirit that knew the reality in the shadows. A soul similar to his: a demon soul. Looking her over once more, Sellictor gave out an exaggerated sigh. Was it really worth telling her? What were her intentions? So many questions swirled in his mind due to this unforeseen variable and it was pissing him off. Against his better judgement, the man spoke of his mission. " Her name is Casey Rosedea. She's a twelve year old with. Dark hair, freckles, yellow eyes, and a missing canine tooth. Yes, I have a picture of her, but I'm not about to flaunt it around, especially not to someone that just barely got out of diapers and thinks that since she knows a few spells, she's automatically a super hero." This woman was right about something though... the longer they sat there B*tching, the lower the chances of him being able to save the girl. Reaching down, he went to grab a scrap of paper off the man he just killed. The instant he touched it, however, he jumped back, waving his hand a bit. A bit of smoke whisked off the tips of his appendage. For a group that went after a young witch, they sure did seem to take additional steps to prep for a demon. While tracking her will now be a bit more difficult, there was still a trick up the nephalim's sleeve. Standing up straight, he took in a deep breath and, in a commanding voice, yelled out, " Shadow! To me!" That instant, an eerie fog blanketed the area, obscuring vision, making it nearly impossible to see a few inches in front. A blood curdling howl echoed from the mist. Two blood red eyes appeared and, just as quickly as it appeared, the blanket lifted away, revealing a large, pitch-black dire wolf. Pulling out the picture, it revealed a young girl, happily standing next to her mother. They looked to be standing in front of Disney Land, posing for the photo. "Shadow," the demon stated in the same, forceful tone, " Track." Looking at the ground, the familiar sniffed, searching for a lead. Looking back up, he pointed towards the old chapel. With his pet leading the way, Sellictor drew his dagger once more, it was too calm, especially with that fight. There had to be more, somewhere. But, with the effects of the trap and holy water still interfering with his magic, the demonic magician was all but forced to go in blind and one arm tied. " Listen, pipsqueak. I'm here for the girl and the girl only. If you get in trouble, I don't give a rat's ass what happens, got it?" Raven

Raven groaned slightly at the man's continued abrasiveness. At least he seemed to have a means to help track the person, though if the trail went cold now that she had seen the person's face and got the name she could use her empathic power to find her. "Fine. And I'll have you know I've trained in sorcery practically my whole life. I'm not an amateur," she replied, slightly annoyed. Raven had dealt with numerous supervillains and even her own father already, a bunch of human cultists weren't going to prove a superior threat then that. She really didn't want to continue this argument when they had a kid to find. "I'm here for her, too. We find her, we can part ways after. I can take care of myself."She closed her eyes and focused, to sense if any more were coming. She sensed only a gathering distant thoughts, close together in a single spot enough that she could feel it. "I don't sense any reinforcements coming, they're waiting for us. Be ready."

Something was off, it was gradually becoming harder and harder for the demon to sense the magical auras around him. Based on the events of the previous fights, he didn't have reason to believe there were any mages that specialized in mass concealment. So, that would leave two other possibilities. Either they were using seals or.... Halting the thoughts running through his mind, Sellictor held up his palm. " Fierlos" A small flame sat atop his hand before he closed it, extinguishing the fire. Letting out a small growl, he shook his head. "Damn bastards pulled one over on me. Wasn't just holy water they hit me with. Possibly a silver compound as well. Magic power isn't nearly as strong as it should be. Have to wait for it to run its course." He was so used to working alone, the sorcerer didn't realize he muttered that out loud until the pitch black wolf looked over at him. " Shall I contact Lady Nervain for you, my Lord?" " I'm fine, Shadow, keep pushing forward.... I promised Miss Rosedea I'd bring her child back alive. Once a Nervain gives their word, they're bound to it." " As you wish, Lord Nervain." Reaching the location, he listened close to a few chants of the men. Holding out his hand, Sellictor signaled to stop to the others. " Boost enchantments.... They're using dark magic to increase someone's physical capabilities... but with those spells...." His eyes went wide before attempting to tackle Raven out of the way. A large boulder was thrown at them, crashing into the ground, carving a small crater in its wake. The man that threw it stepped into the clearing. His bones appeared to have broken and reformed multiple times, skin was stretched and torn in certain places and the whites of his eyes were a deep shade of red. Blood leaked from his nose and eyes as the magical enhancements were pushing his body far beyond it's standard limits. " Fierlos Treaybonthus!" Launching a fireball at the man, it exploded on impacted, searing some of his flesh, but doing little in terms of slowing him down. " My flames can't get hot enough to incinerate him with a single blast. Dammit! Well, Gothic Gown, you might be useful after all...." Raven

As they progressed further, Raven was taken by surprise as the man she'd just more or less teamed up with suddenly tackled her to the ground, and a large boulder sailed past them. The teen looked over at the source of which the object was hurled and her eyes widened in horror at the horribly transfigured man who had attacked them. Her empathic power sensed the overload of dark magic coursing through him that had twisted and warped his body. What they'd done to the man she was working with had weakened him significantly, she could sense if he took this monster on alone he might fail. Good of him to put his pride aside and allow her to help. "Very well," she said, narrowing her eyes at the enemy and raising her arms as the towering monster flung another chunk of debris at them. The girl's shadow, taking the shape of a large raven, suddenly emerged from behind her and enveloped herself and her allies in its wings and the debris shattered on impact. Her soul-self withdrew and the sorceress thrust her hand forward. "Azarath Metrion Zinthos!" she shouted, the chunks of debris becoming enveloped in a pitch-black aura as they levitated into the air and flew at their enemy at high speed to subdue him. The creature that was once a man bellowed and shielded itself with its massive arms. Raven could sense their enemy wouldn't last long, this dark power that had enhanced him was more then his body could handle and would likely kill him very shortly. It sickened her, to think someone would throw their life away so readily or for someone to expend a life like this for their own gain, but there was nothing she could do about that but fight until their foe was neutralized, and expedite that process as much as she didn't want to. Before the creature could recover from the distraction, Raven had her palms face eachother and dark magic crackled and charged between them before thrusting them forward, the creature howled angrily as it was suddenly blasted backward by a powerful, continuous bolt of eldritch lightning. Raven grit her teeth as she struggled to keep it going, to keep the monster at bay till its body would burn out. TAG Sellictor Nervain

Gritting his teeth, the half-demon let out a snarl before slamming his fist into the ground. This was definitely the work of the dragon soldiers. Only they would be reckless and heartless enough to throw away life in the sole purpose of subduing an opponent. His breath became extreme hot as the other half of him scratched and clawed at his mind, demanding to be set free and to wreak havoc on the world, wanting to kill anything and everything. Closing his eyes and focusing, Sellictor refused to let Nightmare come out to play. While it would be a quick and easy way to dispatch of his enemies, it would only lead to an even further bloodbath. Once the demon inside awakens, nobody is safe. Friends, enemies, it doesn't matter, all would be potential targets. Opening his eyes, the man tried to regain his composure before standing up. Glancing over at the woman, she appeared to be able to handle the beast on her own, leaving him with the others. Easiest way to get rid of the mages would be to kill them all. Biggest issue concerning that, however, is his waning strength. Not knowing how long the effects will last, the demonic magician found it better to conserve as much of his power for now. Looking down at his familiar, the animal was snarling, back hunched and fangs bared. The black dog was ready to fight. " Shadow. True Form" The instant the words left his master's mouth, the pitch black dire wolf howled at the sky. His body began to grow to two stories tall. Wings burst through his back and his head and tail took the shape of a dragon's. The transformation was met with multiple blasts of magic from the wizards, all attempting to kill the monster before them. Taking in a deep breath, the demonic animal released a breath of black fire, slamming into the men, causing them to let out screams of agony as their bodies were roasted alive. Not even their souls were able to escape the blaze, all being burned from the realms of existence. With the blast finished, the wolf returned to its original form, standing next to the man once more. " Now that the welcome party is dealt with.... we need to go rescue the kid...." Attempting to take a step forward, Sellictor dropped to his knee, breathing heavily. " Lord Nervain-" " I'm fine, just not used to being this low on magic.... These dumbfucks are getting smarter every time...." Taking a few moments to rest, the man forced himself back to his feet before continuing on towards the old building. Each step was becoming more of a struggle as the holy place pushed harder and harder against the demon inside the trespasser. " Listen, shortstack, it's painfully obvious by now, but I'm out of my element here. I despise asking others for help. So I'm not asking you. You want to leave, go ahead, but I'm still going to continue my mission. I gave the hag my word and I don't go back on my promises." Finally reaching the doors, the nephalim raised a foot, preparing to kick it in. " Gravitus Forssol" Driving his heel into the heavy, wooden barrier, the kick, coupled with the gravity alteration, blasted them clean off their hinges, sending large chunks and splinters careening into a small army waiting on the inside. While the initial strike did take out several of the warriors, a small phalanx still remained. "Son of Alastor, I can't say I'm surprised to see that you made it past the front lines, but, unfortunately, this is where things end for both you and your follower." " Congratulations, you know my father, as a prize, I'll burn your ass until not even ashes remain" Raven

Raven was visibly startled when the black dog transformed into a massive beast that decimated their enemies. Turning away, the girl listened to the screams of agony that rang through her ears, and through her mind and did her best to filter them out. As much as these men deserved to pay for their crimes, being able to sense their suffering when demonic activity was so high at this point, both from her companion, his familiar, their adversaries, and herself, did have its drawbacks sometimes. She looked down at the black dog when it reverted back, then at the half-demon sorcerer. Somehow she doubted with that much sheer power being spent he or his chosen familiar would be able to endure much longer. When he finally, in his own reluctant way, asked for her help, Raven stood next to him, looking the man in the eyes. "I'll stay. If not for your sake then for the girl's. I won't let these monsters take an innocent life," she replied sternly. "I'll take the lead. My barriers will buy you time to recover." She only hoped he'd be willing to listen. When they entered what appeared to be the inner sanctum they were greeted with another phalanx of cultists, their leader spoke to her companion. Raven narrowed her eyes from under her hood in contempt, wanting to make these people pay for what they'd done. "Return the child, and you may be spared," she said, darkness beginning to thicken around her and her cloak beginning to billow despite there being no apparent wind. TAG Sellictor Nervain
