Timeline: Many months after Devil's Advocate but before Mind over Matter Previous Threads: Devil's Advocate Characters Involved: GHOST RIDER Gensokyo Girl Location: The Staples Center Johnny Blaze was all smiles as he removed the crash helmet and handed it to part of the stunt team. His bike, a custom built 99' Buell, was smoking as crew rushed to put out pockets of flame with extinguishers. Medical personnel came running just to be safe, but Blaze waved them off. Little did anyone know he didn't even need the helmet. Had something gone wrong and he'd ended up hurt, the Rider would have healed him in short order. Thankfully nothing did go wrong, the stunt had gone off perfectly with him soaring over lines of cars outfitted with flamethrowers angled upwards in an arc on both ends, and landing a nearly 300ft jump. The bike was left a little scorched, but nothing some TLC from the mechanic crew and a new paint job couldn't fix. All in all it was a good start and the crowd was pumped for the main event, the return of international popstar and his employer Gensokyo Girl. She'd blow the roof off the place in her final set and there'd be a nice payday all around. Running through a checklist he decided to stick with the game plan he'd been following since Kris gave him this opportunity. He'd head to the back, get into street clothes, and book before the show even really had a chance to get underway. Granted, her particular style of music was not his favorite, but he had no real issue with Kris, her music, or anyone on the crew. In fact she'd added a few classic rock songs to her lineup, possibly as an attempt to show him her range, and the crew members for both his stunts and her performances were nice enough. He knew though that he had to limit his time around...people. Given enough time the Rider could and would find a reason to visit vengeance upon folks that by most standards didn't necessarily have it coming. Zarathos could smell sin, no matter how small, like a trained bloodhound and considering he'd not let him out to play in some time there was no telling when he'd bubble over. This was after all not far from the land of sex, drugs, and rock and roll so there was bound to be plenty of things to set the Rider off. Tonight he seemed particularly aggravated, like there was something in the air... Trying to ignore it Johnny headed to what served as a dressing room, stripped off the stunt suit, and donned his standard jeans and biker jacket attire. Before heading out though he wanted to check in with Kris' roadie and make sure he relayed the message to Kris that his leaving was nothing personal. He was just going to pass it off as not feeling too well and needing to get some sleep, that lag from the road was finally catching up to him, but before he even reached the roadie's location, he could sense that something was amiss. There was a scent to the air. Over the smell of those vaping, the occasional smell of pot, and the general odor of so many people packed in a single location there was something far too familiar. Sulfur. Knocking on the roadie's door he got no answer. Likewise when he asked a crew member for his location nobody seemed to know. Waiting until any wandering eyes had long since passed, he shouldered the door open and what he found had Zarathos fuming. The room was a mess. Candles and clothes were spread about and a symbol, similar to a pentagram yet altered with symbols that seemed familiar somehow, was burned into the floor. Perfume and brimstone stung his nose and it occurred to Johnny and Zarathos what had happened. “Succubi,” they spat. “This is not normal,” Johnny said aloud. “Those sigils indicate the opening of a portal. But to where? Succubi can be deadly sure, but they don't abduct.” You know as well as I where Blaze. You feel the tug, that residual pull to the pit, the place we have both escaped and where you are bound to arrive again. They've taken him to Hell.Blaze sighedm glancing at the shattered mirror and catching the faint orange glow in the reflection of his eyes. It looked like it was going to be one of those nights... The roars of the fans of the daredevil could be heard clear from her dressing room. Doing the final bit of preparation for her songs, Kris was both nervous and excited to be back on the stage. Granted, she did a few live performances without her powers, but this is the first time she was back on stage with this big of a crowd since the incident. Just the thought of the exposure sent a chill down her spine and her palms got sweaty. Her stomach felt tight and she started to get light headed. Was she getting cold feet? Now of all times??? Giving her cheeks some light slaps, the singer attempted to snap herself out of it. It wouldn't end up like last time. All those people out there? They know her secret. They know she's a neo.... rather was a neo. Something just didn't feel right with her. Danny, her usual runner, didn't knock on her door and check up on her. While his ten check-ups on her, every time she was about to go on stage was a bit overkill, the girl came to get used to it. Yes he was excitable, but the boy was always punctual. Every check was on the dot. Granted, a few weeks before the concert, her roadie did confess his love, only to get shot down. Her mind flashed back. They were going through the check list and Danny, with his freckles and slight gap in his front teeth was beaming a huge smile that was contagious. His blonde hair was always a tad messy, as if he just got out of bed. As the blue-haired girl went down the list, he ensured everything was there. When everything was accounted for and loaded up on the trucks, the teen, barely an adult, turned to Kris and his cheeks were red. "I umm... Gensokyo Girl-" " You know you can call me Kris, right? GG is just my stage name" "Right, Umm... Kris... I know you probably get this a lot.... but... umm... well.... I really like you, like really really like you. I-if it would be alright, after the tour.... maybe we can... go-" he was silenced by a hand on his shoulder. " Listen, Danny, I appreciate how you feel, I do. I love everybody of my crew. You guys are like family to me. I would do anything for you, I'd even go to hell and back just to keep you guys safe. But you should never mix pleasure and business.... especially in our line of work. The last thing we need is complications due to relationship issues among team members." The message reached the newbie loud and clear, as the light in his eyes faded for the first time. A sight that Kris has seen countless times, from numerous men and women that asked to be with her, but one that always made her feel a little guilty. Shaking the memory from her head, the girl took a sigh was walked out to the hallway after changing into her costume. A faux leather jacket covered a deep blue, low cut T-shirt, exposing her cleavage slightly. Black denim shorts hugged her thighs, stopping just a few inches above her knees while Blue crew socks started about halfway up her shins and black and blue ankle shoes covered her feet. Fingerless gloves with kevlar lined knuckle gloves completed her look. Her usual cat-earphone were replaced with a more simplistic pair that held tight to her scalp but left one ear open and a mic hung from her ear piece, stopping at her cheek. Her steps hastened by both worry and slight annoyance, Gensokyo Girl was convinced the boy was probably just moody about the "friend-zoning". " I mean, everybody gets friendzoned.... heck, even I've been friendzoned!" She muttered to herself before stopping in front of the door, rather, what was left of it. Taking a few steps closer, her face went pale. Pressing a button on her mic, she sent a voice message across all headsets of the crew. " I need you to stall. I don't know how, but do it. I think we might have an emergency." Entering the room, she could smell the sulfur and it looked like a tornado ripped through here. Standing next to a mirror, the girl saw the daredevil as he began to turn. With all the fear in her, Kris tightened her hands into fists before releasing them. " Where is he? I promised I would protect everybody in my crew, so WHERE IS HE?" GHOST RIDER

Johnny was still looking around the room when Kris arrived demanding answers. Though he was still piecing things together in an attempt to get a more complete picture of what had happened, he knew the broad strokes well enough to explain it to her. Whether she believed him or not was a different story. He was far from an expert on the supernatural, not like Stephen Strange or Doctor Voodoo at any rate, but you don't live the carnie life let alone have a Spirit of Vengeance riding around in your head without picking up a few things. Problem was normal folks usually didn't want to hear or believe what they when they were told about the other worldly. Even less than normal folks, the capes and tights crowd, seemed adverse to being exposed to the world of magic. Giant robots, mad scientists, and ray guns they are fine with, but once you start tossing demons, angels, and things that go bump in the night into the equation and suddenly it's too much for them, Blaze thought. Once you realize anything and everything is possible and the rules don't apply you have to start thinking about the big questions like Heaven, hell, life after death, and all those things that make leaping off of buildings in your underclothes look kind of small and stupid in comparison.Considering Kris had seen the Rider already he hoped she'd be more open to the truth, no matter how weird, but one could never be sure. Some folks in S.H.I.E.L.D still classified him as a superhuman or a mutant because even if a flaming headed biker skeleton screamed supernatural, they were more comfortable with science, even fringe science, than facing the mystic. There was only one way to find out how his new employer would take it. “I'm not completely sure,” he said. Why lie Blaze? You KNOW where he was taken. We've both been there and neither of us want to go back, Zarathos snarled. “I asked around. Some stage hands saw him talking with a couple of fangirls. Ken, one of the pyro technicians said he rarely brought groupies backstage, but there were three, and I quote 'total knockouts' he was getting very friendly with,” Johnny said, ignoring the Rider. “I came to let him know I was taking off and found the room like this.” Walking over to the hastily drawn pentagram he kicked over a bottle. “This was drawn with blood. Not his mind you, they brought their own supply in this. Not human by the way,” he told her, hoping she didn't ask how he knew it wasn't human. Tossing a pillow aside he nudged a discarded bra with the toe of his boot. “If I had to guess, I'd say that three woman who seemed incredibly attractive to everyone that saw them and got your roadie to act against his better judgment, to bring them back here for some happy fun time despite that not being a part of his nature or usual behavior, kinda scream succubi. Demons of lust essentially. They bewitch the mind, feed off of life force or psychic energy while they, uh, engage in adult activities. Rarely do they kill outright unless its an ancient one or one that hasn't fed in a long time,” he explained. “The magic though, that's a new one on me. Just...strange. Succubi tend to have to be summoned and they don't kidnap. But this isn't a summoning circle, its a hastily made portal.” Turning around to take in the scene once more in its entirety he sighed, the wavy lines of energy only he could see painting a fairly grim picture. “My...friend sees the veil between here and elsewhere. It's been torn open. Its already healing, but its definitely a sign that they grabbed him and took off. He...he thinks he knows where. And, uh, its kind of a doozy so you may want to sit down for this.” Swallowing hard he tried to ignore the Rider's harsh criticism and the mini-tirade it was throwing. Unlike the Spirit of Vengeance Blaze realized some news had to be broken as gently as possible. When you are telling someone their good friend was ripped away into the abyss by demons there wasn't really a good way to say it. “I'm pretty sure they've taken him...to hell. And I'm not being metaphorical I mean hell, hell. Fire, brimstone, demons, torture, the whole shebang. In and of itself that is unusual. I mean demons pop topside all the time. Some possession here, attempts to kick start the apocalypse there, and always with the damnable deals where your soul is on the line. But taking people back to the Pit wholesale? That's...frankly that's against the rules. I'm sorry.” Gensokyo Girl

The girl thought she was ready for anything and could handle any answer. But this one? Hell? Not one she would've listed on the possible locations. Looking up at the man, the corner of her mouth twitched a bit, hoping he would say that it was all a joke. And that Danny would pop out of the closet so the three could have a good laugh. Of course, she knew that wasn't the reality of the situation. With the blood draining from her face, she stumbled back a bit before squatting against a chair for support. A few minutes passed as she was completely silent, trying to process the information. No matter what, it didn't make sense. Supernatural beings? Here? Sure, there was the flaming skull biker in front of her.... And Jake had powers from a demon as well.... but that seemed just fine to her, not something she'd question. But this? Taking a deep breath, Kris closed her eyes and tried to regain her composure. " So, let me get this straight.... not one, but... three succubi? They came backstage with Danny.... then broke some rule or... law... or policy, whatever, about bringing people into Hell... They trashed his room and kidnapped him?" Throwing herself back onto her feet, she clapped her hands and glared at the man in determination. " Let's go get him back. Nobody, succubi, vampires, not even the chupaccabra, messes with my crew, my family, and gets away with it." Despite her words full of strength, her eyes still seemed slightly glossed over, as if they were still processing the information. While her information on most things supernatural is limited to what she's seen in anime and mangas, the idol hoped that would be sufficient. If not, she prayed that the spirit of vengeance would protect her. Reaching around her back, her arms flinched a bit before relaxing. " Right... don't have my guitar. Not like it would do much help anyway.... So, what should I expect when we get there? Should I grab some salt or silver or something?" GHOST RIDER

Johnny listened to her assessment of the situation and nodded. It wasn't often that you could tell someone a loved one was dragged off to the pit without getting calls for a straight jacket and professional help, but Kris was taking it surprisingly well. He could only assume that after meeting the Rider and seeing everything that went down in Pine Gap the case for the existence of the supernatural had been made. And to think, a flaming skull is just the tip of the weird iceberg, he thought “Pretty much. I'm thinking either their intended, uh, activities got out of hand or the release of energy from the portal is what trashed the room. But yes, this is a big no-no, even for folks from down below. See they don't see war the way we do. To them death and destruction is all fine and good, but it has to be in the service of something larger. Their battlefield is for the soul. Whisper in the right ear, get mankind to do the wrong thing, tempt a good person into doing something horribly evil, that kind of thing. Dead folks are only useful if they can condemn someone else to the pit or if they arrive there themselves. So this taking a person wholesale? That is a play that just isn't done. They could invite...retribution from the opposite side so to speak. Question is, what is worth it? A lone roadie is not worth upsetting the cosmic balance.” It was only after he had said it that Blaze winced. That last bit sounded harsh and he had long since learned just how close Kris was with her crew. His refusal to really open up and let anyone close had already gained him a reputation of being an introvert and a loner among the close knit family. “Not to say Danny isn't important,” he clarified. “But if the forced of hell were going to unbalance things this much he's not exactly a prime target, you know?” It is likely a trap Blaze. This could be to draw us out. We've escaped that place twice, a third time may not be so easy.Ignoring the Rider even though it could very well be right, he continued on to the other half of her question. “Hell is...well its weird. Hell seems to be a dimension or maybe a place where several dimensions intersect. Nobody really knows. But powerful demons called Hell-Lords have carved out their own domains there. Many of them have claimed to be the biblical devil, only one I've met may actually have a real claim to that, but all are cruel and twisted. They work against mankind, against Heaven, and each other as they jockey for power. Each domain can be vastly different from the last. When my friend and I were there unimaginable nightmares, things that can drive you mad at a glance, pursued us endlessly. We traveled over roads of flesh and veins, through seas of acid, storms of fire and bone, you name it. All the while you are chased while the chorus of the damned plays, the screams of suffering, pain, and eternal torment. There is no real rhyme of reason to it and no way to help them,” he explained. Most belong there! Their suffering is pitiful compared to the vengeance they deserve! Zarathos snarled in the back of his mind. “So you need to understand,” he continued. “This is to rescue Danny, no one else. He doesn't belong there.” THE GIRL IS A LIABILITY! SHE SHALL SLOW US DOWN! LEAVE HER!“My, uh, partner thinks it best if you stay behind. Salt, silver and the like they'd be of some help, less than if there were monsters topside, but Kris this isn't....we are not talking about storming a castle or dropping into a warehouse where mobsters are holding someone hostage. This is like nothing you've ever seen and nobody should have to. Demons will try to tempt you, deals will be offered, easy ways out for you and Danny and everyone, but they will come with a hidden cost. And they are powerful. Even the lesser demons will know your mind and the secret things you don't share. Your desires, fantasies, every bad thought you've had about getting even with someone, that piece of candy you shoplifted in middle school, all of it. And it will be used against you, to damn you, forever.” Sighing he turned around, glancing at the broken mirror and seeing Zarathos' reflection staring back at him despite not having changed. “But I know what it is like. There was a time where I wasn't the Rider anymore. I had a family and they were taken from me. I didn't sit on the sidelines despite my lack of power and let others do the work for me. I fought side by side with another Rider to take it to the evil SOBs. So I can't deny you the opportunity to do the same. But you have to understand the stakes. This is bigger than costumes, capes, and masks. This is you accepting the risk and wading head first into a war that has been raging since mankind began. Believe me when I say having your soul on the line is a lot different than just your physical well being. So are you sure you want to do this?” Gensokyo Girl

Adjusting her gloves and pulling them tighter on to her hands, the girl gave a scowl to Johnny. Although it was at his face, her glare was clearly directed to the man's alter ego. " I may not be the strongest, but I made a promise to a friend and a family member. I will go to hell and back to keep them safe. Anata wa sore ga sukide wanai? Magatte, watashi no senaka, kottō ni kisu*" With a sigh, she continued on in a more sorrowed tone. " I know this is bigger than something I can even begin to comprehend, but.... this isn't like back at Pine Gap. I know I'm not alone. I'd be lying if I said that I wasn't scared. I'm terrified to death, but fear shouldn't stop me from protecting my family. So I'm going with you." Turning around and bolting out the door, her twin tails fluttered behind as the idol ran to collect a few items. Bashing into her dressing room, Kris instantly went over and grabbed a silver candle holder and food platter. " Let's see.... I have some salt, just packets, but still.... silver candle holder, food platter.... hope that will be enough." Throwing the items in a backpack before opening the door. A large barrier was standing in the way, causing the teen to feel like she slammed into a brick wall. "GG, what are you doing? You're suppose to be on stage! The manager is about to have an aneur-" " Sorry, Bobby, but I think I know where Danny went off to and I have to go help." With a wink and smirk, Kris squeeze past her bodyguard and ran back to the daredevil. " Just ran into Bobby, he'll cover for me. Got some silver and salt. Not much, but something. Let's go rescue our friend." Readjusting the backpack, it almost sounded like she was expecting to go on a hike. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The second her foot made contact with the soil of Hell, a horrible, bone-chilling sensation flowed through her. Although it felt excruciatingly hot, the sensation was also freezing. More than just her body, but as though it were seeping deep into her very being and soul. It took a minute for her to remember to breathe, due to the horrible feeling. Yet, each breath was as though one was trying to suck in chili powder. Her lungs burned and ached. With legs shaking and hands clenched around her chest, it was as though Kris was about to pass out any second. Yet, even so, the celebrity forced her left foot forward then her right foot. Every step, despite every fiber of her being crying and pleading to turn back, pushed her further into her journey. Not matter what it took, Gensokyo Girl was going to get her friend back. GHOST RIDER*You don't like it? Bend over and kiss my rear, bone-head
