Timeline: Currrent Previous Threads: Maid I be of Service? Characters Involved: @azaleasalvatora , invite Location: Salvatora's
With labored breathing, the young hero stares down the last few members of the gang. Most of the group was sprawled out, unconscious or incapacitated. Off to the side, a couple huddled together. They were covered in bruises and injuries from the attempted mugging. Who knows how much longer they would've lasted if the teenager wasn't roaming the streets. While normally, she would've been at home, she was brought here by the other Guardians. After getting bored, she decided to take a stroll around the streets, see what this big city had to offer. It was only by chance she came across this incident.
As charged at her with a metal bat, the red armor formed over her hand and arm once more. "Mecha Punch!" She yelled as her fist connect with the thug's sternum. He coughed up a mouthful of spit as he was launched several back from the strike. "You're burning through your energy too fast!" "Yeah.... I know....." "Then you need to run." "Can't.... must save.... the people..." "Of all the idiots in the world, why did I have to be stuck with the most stubborn one?"
Another swing from a gang member. Due to her exhaustion, the girl was barely able to get her arm in place and have the protection on it in time. "Mecha kick!" Twisting her body, she jumped in the air, slammed her foot into his thigh before landing another kick with her other armored leg into his waist." It would be much easier to defeat them all if she could go Full Mecha, but with how little energy she has left, it would very likely kill her. "I even had.... 3 breakfasts today...." "A yogurt cup and a bagel is not breakfast. It's barely a snack for you, nimrod."
One last man for her to take out. Turning toward him, her eyes with wide, both arms formed the metal and she covered her face as the pistol fired a bullet. It ricocheted off her limb, embedding itself into the wall. Another shot, immediately another. At this rate, she would only be able to defend herself, she couldn't muster the strength to block and move forward at the same time. If one looked closed, they would see her legs are trembling, barely capable of holding her own weight as it is. Every second that ticked by brought her that much closer to starvation.

"I'll take it from here." Came a distorted voice as Azalea took a running jump onto a nearby wall before bouncing herself off of it and onto the goon, pinning him to the ground and poking a claw into his neck, causing him to pass out with his eyes glossed over. "He'll be out till the authorities can arrive." Said Azalea, her mask changing her voice to help prevent being identified. Looking over at Mecha she cautiously walked over, attempting to check if the fellow hero was alright. Seeing the shaking knees, she took that as a sign things were indeed not alright. "Do you need help? You don't look like your in the best of shape." she exclaimed, hoping for a reply from the mechanized mystery woman. She had overheard something about breakfast...Was it food she needed? If so Azalea could provide that in a heartbeat. She decided to wait a couple minutes for a reply, willing to carry Mecha to her cafe if she needed to.

Watching the final thug fall over, she let out a sigh of relief before looking at her savior. Kiara could tell it was a woman from their figure. The running wall jump she used was a pretty neat tactic, one the beginning hero would think about learning later on. With the threat over, the armor on her body disappeared, revealing a the true figure of the teenager. The adrenaline running out, she began to wobble slightly before collapsing. She depleted all of her energy and her body was no longer able to move. Unable to give a response to the heroic woman, the girl blacked out. As if to answer her reply about what was wrong, her stomach let out a growl, sounding as if it hasn't been fed in almost a week. With her skin turning pale and her pulse weak, evident signs of starvation and malnutrition were appearing. Yet, she didn't look starved as she still had the body of an athlete and her ribs weren't showing.
A powerful, yet horrendous smell impacted the girl's nostrils. Since the host of the body was still out, Heather took command. Eyes shooting open, they were now purple, instead of their previous brown color. Throwing herself into a standing position, she raised a hand to launch a punch at the nearest threat, only to find out how drained of energy the body was. Plopping back down, she let out a struggled breath. "She really over did it this time. That idiot...." Seeing the food in front of her, without hesitating and checking to make sure it was safe for consumption, the parasite wolfed down the soup as if it were her first meal in days. Instantly grabbing the next plate of food, it was gone in a blink of an eye. Only then, did she lay eyes on her savior. "I suppose I should thank you for the nutrition."

Azalea made a quick gesture to the other workers to keep the food coming before addressing the recovered hero. "You are welcome. I'm going to assume from the references to another person, I'm speaking to more than one entity at the moment, correct?" She asked, looking at the being as she carefully exchanged the empty dishes for full ones. "No worries about keeping secrets or anything, I'm the one that assisted you earlier." She said, just in case it wasn't already clear from her actions. She wasn't sure of just who, or what this person was. However, since she met this person taking down a group of thugs, she could only assume she was on the side of heroics though. Couldn't be too careful however, since it was entirely possibly it was a squabble between two villainous factions. She made sure to have her combat claws attached onto her gloves for this little meeting in case things started to go south. Currently however, she did not expect that it would.

Pausing for a moment, Heather studied her savior with skeptical eyes. Was it really safe to tell her? Sure, she personally didn't mind, but it was more of the concern of her host. If anything were to happen, from how close they were, disposing of the hero would not be an issue, as the parasite could instantly form the armor and throw a punch. However, if she was truly after something of true importance, feeding them would not have been the logical choice. So, perhaps this woman really is just trying to help out after all? This was all speculation from the secondary conscious's situation. Combat was her expertise, not interrogation. After a few seconds of remaining like a statue with a glare fixated on the green haired woman, the teenager let out a sigh. "The host of this body is named Kiara. I am the source of her powers that you witnessed earlier. While I don't technically have a name, she has insisted on naming me Heather. With her currently being unconscious at the moment due to the over-use of her energy, I am the one in charge."
With the next plate quickly emptied, she was now on to her fifth plate and showed no signs of slowing down. "I explained who we are. Now it's your turn." Her icy glared didn't waver as she bit into a loaf of bread. Despite the assistance and the food, it was evident that Heather still didn't trust this green haired girl. To say that she wasn't thankful would be incorrect, however, gratitude and loyalty were two different things. And, in this world of "heroics" as Kiara liked to say, Heather has noticed more hostility than hospitality, thus her concern wasn't without warrant. "So, you gave us food and saved us from the criminals.... let me guess, you want something in return, correct?" @azaleasalvatora

A mild expression of surprise crept across Azalea's face, as she hadn't meant to have the girl's identity revealed, merely if she was speaking to more than one person. She listened over how the entity was explaining itself, and for now she chose to believe their story until they could hear the opinion of their other side. "No reward is needed. I merely wished to help." Said Azalea, her calm and collected attitude showing no signs of lying.
"As for myself, I am Azalea Salvatora. Owner of this resteraunt. But I suspect that's not the part your interested in." She said, adjusting her gaze to match Heather's. "I trust you will keep this private as I shall your owns secrets, but I am a trained, but never put into use, assassin. Raised by mercenaries but against killing. Survivor of a sadistic game where an evil mastermind was trying to manipulate people into killing eachother. But I can assure you I did not kill. I have only taken one life, in self defense. I only use my training to disarm."

With a scoff at the single kill, Heather tried to act tough, but in reality, that's still one more person than she has killed. Not of her own volition, but rather, because Kiara won't allow the parasite to. With another vicious bite into the loaf of bread, it appeared that the entity was finally slowing down on eating, as if almost getting their fill. There was one thing that irked Heather, however. She was envious of Azalea. To live life with the mercenaries, to be able to witness real, true combat. That is what the powerhouse craved. She desired to be on the battlefield, to have the power over her enemies' lives. With a small smirk forming, she set what remained of the loaf down. "Sounds like you lived the life I wanted. I was created for one purpose: to make the ultimate soldier, the ultimate killing machine. Instead, I am stuck with.... this" She hissed out the last word, gesturing towards her own body. "Were the roles different, and you were my host, I would be able to achieve my true potential." With a small chuckle, knowing that it was all "what ifs" and simple dreaming, Heather dismissed her own words.
"The host is finally starting to wake up. Might as well meet the other half." Closing her eyes and giving off a soft sigh, the irises went from a deep purple to a subtle brown. Kiara, once more in control, looked at the food, looked at the green haired girl, looked at the empty plates and the bustling staff. Her cheeks burned bright red. How much did Heather consume? This was going to cut into her savings big time. "I-I'm so sorry! I didn't mean to eat so much! I think I have enough to pay for it, if not, I will work off my tab!" @azaleasalvatora

With a gaze down at the glass of water in front of her Azalea let out a soft sigh at the parasite's remark. Memories of those she had lost fading in and out, a sour look on her face before she cleared her head. "In all truth, I'd give my past away in a heartbeat. But that isn't something that can be changed unfortunately." She said, looking back up just in time to see Kiara resume control, barely able to keep herself from bursting into laughter at the teen's response. "It's quite alright! Settle down!" She said with a chuckle as she kept eye contact with Kiara. "It's on the house." She said as her staff looked at her as if she was insane before resuming their duties. "I'm the one that helped when you blacked out earlier, wasn't about to let a fellow hero starve. Your other half took over while you were out and explained everything." She said, trying to create a nice calm atmosphere. "Kiara right? I'm Azalea. I own this place so you don't have to worry about paying a penny. And you don't have to work it off or anything, just consider it a superhero discount." She said with a friendly smile

The sound of a free meal. If Kiara's wallet would talk, it would be crying out of joy and relief. The teen's eyes were wide with astonishment, as if having just won the lottery. As if moving more on instinct and like a robot, her hand put the roll to her mouth again before taking another bite. Tears welled up and she sniffled. Not because she was sad, but rather because the hero was beyond happy. "Th....thank you!" The simple words were all Kiara was able to muster between the tears and stuffing her face. After a few more plates were cleaned, the girl set her utensils down with a sigh of happiness.
"I just recently joined a new team. I'm a member of the 'Guardians of the Galaxy'!" "Still a really stupid name" "It's not stupid! It's an awesome name!" "It's leader is a raccoon" "He's not a raccoon! He's a genetically altered alien that looks exactly like a..... yeah, ok he's a raccoon. But an alien racccoon!"
Pausing during her argument, she looks at Azalea before closing her mouth and blushing slightly. "Sorry.... I was having a discussion with Heather."
Standing up from her table, the hero helped collect the plates and aide the staff. "I know you said that the meal was free, but.... I can't accept it completely free. Judging by how much I ate, it was easily over a few hundred. Please..... let me work off at part of it?" @azaleasalvatora

Azalea merely stared in surprise at the emotional outburst over the free food offer but regained her composure, chuckling to herself at what she overheard of the conversation between the two personalities. Helping the fellow teen gather up the dishes from the table, she smiled softly at Kiara's insistence on paying in some capacity. "As I've said there is no need, but if you insist than there are a few options. You could help the cooks or wash dishes, you could be a waitress, although I'd have to make you a dress" as she took a moment to gesture at the maid dresses the rest of the work staff were wearing. She then whispered to Kiara "OR you could pay it off in another kind of work....The crook catching kind." She said with a small smirk, cracking her knuckles a bit for emphasis. "It's up to you. Restaurant experience or going out on patrol, either of the two shall suffice." She said, smiling as she watched Kiara, awaiting an answer in the most polite and patient manner that she could muster. Helping to wash a few of the dishes to ease the load on her staff while she waited. She could tell her staff was a tad frazzled from the overwhelming nature of the teen's appetite, so she carefully slid them each a rather substantial tip behind her back, attempting to spare Kiara from any potential guilt. As she stirred her soda around with her straw she put on a friendly smile. "Heck, could even do a bit of both if you want"

Kiara, hesitating on the choices for a moment, was weighing the pros and cons for each option. If she were to work here, it would a decent way for her to earn some money on the side. However, her team leader, @rocket, would most likely be upset to hear that she was working instead of fighting crime. On the other hand, were she to choose to take out criminals, it would help make the area a safer place, but it could also put the woman at risk of being caught. "What are you waiting for? We can take out some guys and you get to be the hero you wanted." "Yeah, but I could use the extra money...." "Then do some bounty hunting!" "What? I'm not ready to do that on my own yet!" "Do you need someone to hold your hand when you go through the check stand as well?"
A long, defeated sigh escaped the girl's lips as the two personalities were at a stalemate. "I guess we'll do both." "I really hate you...." "What? it's the best choice! Anyway, I should probably head to the back to start helping with dishes." Suddenly the woman's eyes turned purple as the parasite took over. "I will not be wearing the maid outfit.... being friendly isn't my thing" With that statement made, her eyes returned to their soft brown state before walking to the kitchen. Grabbing a few of the dishes, she instantly plunged them in the hot water before reflexively pulling them out. "That water's hot!" "No, really? What was your first clue? the steam or the warm plates?" "Can you try being nice to me for once?" "Can you try being smart for once?"
Plunging her hands back into the sink, her hands soon adjusted to the temperature as Kiara scrubbed the plates down before placing them on the rack. Compared to other staff, the teen was moving rather slowly. Whether it was due to lack of skill or fear of breaking a plate was beyond the teen's guess. Once she got into a rhythm, however, her pace started picking up. It wasn't much, but for now, it was at least a start.
