Species: Human (perhaps the greatest, most intelligent to ever draw breath!)

Physical Appearance: Standing at an impressive 6’7” while in armor, Victor cuts an imposing figure. Clad in menacing silver armor, a green tunic, and a sweeping dark green cape and hood, he resembles a combination of Medieval warrior and futuristic robot. As befitting a leader who must defend themselves and others at all times he has a leather holster upon his hip, usually filled with a high tech laser pistol. Should one be fortunate enough to gaze upon Doom from close range they may catch sight of the only portion of his person visible beneath the armor: the cold, intelligent eyes seen through the rectangular vision slots, surrounded by scar tissue. Everything about Doom from how he carries himself to where he positions himself when among others screams regality and sophistication while informing those around him that they are ultimately beneath him in status, intelligence, and all aspects of existence.

Victor was once considered to be incredibly handsome, but following the accident, his face has been left scarred. Reports vary on the severity with some claiming he is terribly disfigured, others saying it was a single scar and that Doom’s vanity would not allow him to be seen with even a single imperfection, and more claiming that it is a mixture of the two with Doom having scarred himself further by donning his face mask hot off the forge. Whatever the case, it is up to those who cross him to wonder if the man beneath the suit looks as horrible as he acts.


Personality: Victor is a study on contrasts. Convinced he is the smartest most capable person alive he is narcissistic and megalomaniacal, ruling his home country of Latveria with an iron will and disposing of any who displease, fail, or stand against him. Despite being a tyrannical dictator he genuinely cares for his subjects and strives to provide them with all they would need including safety and security…assuming their loyalty never wavers and they show their appreciation for his benevolence with periodic parades and other events that praise the genius that is Doom.

Arrogant in the extreme he is incapable of admitting that any person or entity is more powerful than himself and will boldly declare that “DOOM does not fail!” despite having been defeated and his schemes dismantled by the likes of the Avengers and the Fantastic Four on multiple occasions. This arrogance is not completely unwarranted however as he is indeed one of the most intelligent beings alive if only his own hubris did not hold him back. His arrogance combined with his lack of trust in others means that any power that is not his, must be made such and that which he cannot control must be manipulated into serving his purposes anyway. For Doom is the only one that can be trusted to wield such power.

More so than arrogance however is the defining trait of Victor von Doom and that is pride. He takes immense pride in his own accomplishments and abilities, his people, and in the idea that he is actually the good guy and everyone else is too blind or stupid to see it. This leads to him seeing some tasks and people as merely beneath him and unworthy of personal attention. If he can get a subordinate or even better, a rival, to do the work for him, it pleases him all the more. His prideful nature also pushes him to take unnecessary risks such as testing his intelligence against other so-called geniuses or prolonging the execution of a plan in order to prove his superiority and therefore gloat over foes.

Despite these less than desirable traits, Doom is not without honor albeit his code seems flexible during any given situation. He has been known to not press the attack when an opponent is at a severe disadvantage such as having already participated in battle with another or merely being outclassed by his weapons and abilities. Perhaps due to his own childhood and losing his parents so young, he holds a soft spot for children be they of his country or not. Combined with the unyielding drive to free his mother’s soul from the clutches of Mephisto, it is clear that Victor is not an unfeeling, inhuman monster, but rather a cold and calculating monster. He is always prepared, having done in depth research on his foes and forming multiple plans and backup plans should he face a temporary setback.


Powers: (though Doom is not a mutant, mutate, or any other kind of powered individual, he has what could be dubbed “powers” based solely upon his own intelligence and patience)

Magic- Doom is an accomplished sorcerer. His skill is such that he has been considered a candidate for the title of Earth’s Sorcerer Supreme, with various abilities including:

- Astral Projection

-Summoning creatures

-Creating magical bolts and energy blasts

-Controlling the elements

-Portal creation and manipulation

- Energy shields

-Teleportation

-Body hopping via eye contact (rarely used as no other vessel is worthy of Doom’s might!)

-Telepathic abilities and protections (magical protections combined with his unbreakable willpower are enough to shrug off mind control and possession)

Abilities:

Genius Intellect- Doom is incredibly smart. A polymath he has a vast understanding of most fields of study including robotics, computing, chemistry, astrophysics, and more. This enables him to not only craft his own weapons and tools, but to plan for many different eventualities.

Martial Artist- highly trained in a variety or martial arts Doom is more than capable of handling physical threats should they bypass his technological or mystical defenses, his skills great enough to combat Daredevil hand-to-hand. He is a superb swordsman as well.

Artist- Doom is an artist capable of producing drawings and paintings the likes of which could be compared to the greatest Renaissance artists. He is often found painting whatever subject strikes his fancy at any given time. His artistry extends to the realms of composition as well as Doom has written and conducted a number of symphonies on par with the musical greats.

Multilingual- Victor can speak a variety of languages including Latverian, Russian, Romanian, German, and English perfectly and has a working knowledge of several others.

Political Influence- Being the leader of his own sovereign nation Doom has access to a great many resources and thus has some sway on the international stage. Perhaps the greatest boon he has received however has been Diplomatic Immunity, preventing him from being arrested while in other countries despite the dastardly deeds he is known for.


Weapons/Equipment:

Armor- Doom’s armor is a weapon in and of itself. Housing a variety of high-tech devices and weaponry it is also incredibly durable, capable of protecting him from attacks physical, mystical, and ordnance based. The armor’s capabilities include:


-Impenetrable Force Field capable of blocking all incoming attacks (note that Doom cannot attack while the field is active and must lower it to do so)


-Flight via boosters in the boots


-Life Support allowing him to seal the suit for survival in toxic and dangerous environments such as space or poisoned locations


-Strength enhancements allowing him to lift up to 10 tons


-Sense enhancements such as vision modes like infrared and night vision, sound enhancements, and more


-Energy blasts (comparable to Iron Man’s repulsor beams but deadlier and working on different energy sources)


-Electrokinetic generation allowing the armor to shock any who attempt to remove it, restrain Doom, or attempt to grapple him


-Mystical Warding to add to the armor’s durability, guarding against common magical attacks, blocking demonic attacks while he slumbers, and with splinters of the True Cross in the armor to ward off other unholy attacks


-Technological Link to all devices he has crafted, allowing him to control them with a thought (this extends to robotic bodyguards and his Doombots, allowing him to control and speak through them over vast distances)


In addition to his armor he has been known to wield a sword, laser pistol, or other weaponry and gadgets as the occasion dictates


History: Born in Latveria, Victor knew hardship almost immediately as his family fled the dictator that ruled the country committing genocide against the Roma he so hated. It is from his parents that he received his greatest gifts. From his father he received the keen scientific mind that would serve him so well in the future and from his mother Cynthia he received the magical heritage of his family. Unfortunately Doom would lose both his parents while he was still young, his mother dying following her possession by a demonic spirit she had struck a bargain with and his father dying of exposure in the harsh Latverian winter while fleeing soldiers. Returning to his father’s clan with newfound purpose, Victor quickly became the leader, using his fledgling mystical skills and scientific knowledge to protect them.


Gaining admittance to Empire State University Victor abandoned his homeland and people, vowing to return one day once he had the knowledge necessary to truly help them as they deserved. It was at university that Victor met Reed Richards, a peer who he despised immediately as a scientific rival. His arrogance was such that he ignored Richard’s warning of miscalculations in Doom’s interdimensional device and suffered a scarred face following the device’s explosion. Expelled from school, his face now ruined (the extent of which remains a mystery with some claiming he bears a small scar while others claim he is disfigured) he traveled the world eventually mastering the mystical arts and more taught to him by outcast Tibetan monks. In a state of the art armor that hid his face from the world, Doom made his move, combining technology and the arcane.


Returning to Latveria he overthrew the dictator and installed himself as king. Despite ruling with an iron fist, he enacted economic and technological reform, reshaping the small European nation in his own image. As the monarch of Latveria he began to use the country’s resources to further his goals of rescuing his mother Cynthia from Hell and to dominate the world itself…since only Doom’s genius and will could bring peace to it. With his diplomatic immunity rendering him untouchable by most governmental entities, it was superheroes such as the Avengers and the Fantastic Four (led by his old nemesis Reed Richards) who were left to clash with the power hungry tyrant. Despite many setbacks (as DOOM. DOES. NOT. FAIL!) he became one of the most powerful and feared men in the world, alternating between attempting to conquer the planet and helping the so-called heroes ensure it remained free from the grasp of all others. Visions of various futures where the world was in ruin, save one where he ruled all and united mankind, drove him to constantly attempt to save the world even if it is from itself.

Along the way Victor has committed many acts of great evil, even sacrificing his childhood love in exchange for mystical power. He has stolen cosmic power from the Silver Surfer, obtained a Cosmic Cube in attempt to reshape the world, and even went back to Arthurian times where he battled Iron Man in the heart of Camelot itself. However, he also played a pivotal role in stopping the entity known as Onslaught, discovered the Skrull invasion before the world’s heroes had, and even attempted “good for the sake of it” by defeating Count Nefaria before he could conquer a nation. Despite these seemingly contradictory actions, Doom is and always shall be Doom, refusing to be placed into societal boxes whether it be labeled Villain or Hero.

As such when Doom felt the first stirrings of cosmic unrest, he did not warn the heroes of his world. Investigating the cause and coming up short he focused on that which mattered most, protecting Latveria from the dimensional rifts opening across time and space. To this end he pinpointed a nexus place of converging energy, a type of “New Earth”, and dispatched a variety of Doombots to gain further information and to establish a power structure should he need to intervene personally. With one such bot having conquered lands in the Balkans to form a New Latveria, it was time that Doom himself arrive, for only he has the intelligence and the will to do what is necessary to stop what he sees as the unraveling of reality itself and to save the people of Latveria that have been displaced by the strange cosmic events.

Now on New Earth, seeks the answers he could not obtain on his own, to learn who or what is behind the random portals, why New Earth is the focal point, and how he can save his beloved Latveria from falling. To that end he shall do as he must to get what he wants, starting with bringing this realm under the control of DOOM!


Weaknesses:

As durable and formidable as his armor may be, beneath it Doom is but a man, despite his considerable skillset. Should it be breached he would be vulnerable and is more likely to flee a conflict in order to repair his suit or to conceal his true face, his vanity preventing him from being seen without his mask.

Arrogance however may indeed be the worst and most exploitable of his weaknesses. Doom is often correct, but he is arrogant enough to believe he cannot fail and thus underestimate some opponents. He will also refuse to work with others or to accept the rare offer of help as he believes himself capable of doing all things himself, even when he is greatly outnumbered or found to be at a disadvantage. Similarly, he must let everyone know just how grand his intelligence and victories are and will spend time gloating and rubbing it in to those he could otherwise cast down.

His sense of honor, twisted though it may be, can also be exploited by a wily opponent for Doom does not always press the advantage should he feel his opponent is too far outclassed by him.

While few truly know Doom and know only the fearless despot the world has seen, deep down Victor is incredibly insecure. He fears failure above all and worries that he is not all that he has built himself up to be. A failure would be devastating for Doom as it would not only shatter the very idea of who and what he is, but it could mean the world suffers as well, for if Victor von Doom is not up to the task of saving/ruling it, than nobody truly is.


Other Information: As I am taking over as Doom, all prior appearances will now be the result of Doombots sent ahead to scout things out and set things up for when the true Doom appears. Since he conquered some Balkan states to create New Latveria, I'll stick with that since if creates a big stir. Assuming I have permission to do so I'd like to have the population of Latveria have arrived on New Earth as Doom was only able to save his people and not Latveria itself. This creates a humanitarian crisis, adds to the fear that there are extradimensional invaders, and gives Doom something of a deeper purpose without giving him all of his gadgets, Doombots, etc.
