Physical Appearance: Having spent a large portion of his time living and working on a ranch, Zach is well built. With a solid six pack, broad shoulders, and a well earned farmer's tan, the cowboy can have a slightly intimidating stature compared to city folk.



Underneath his cowboy hat, the man is well kept.His curly hair is combed and cut while he has a face of a baby. Emerald green eyes twinkle in the daylight and a smile is almost always on his face. Soft cotton long sleeves and well worn denim pants are his usual attire, complimented with an aged cowbody hat and broken in cowboy boots. Around his hip sits a .357 revolver with extra ammo.


Personality: Zach is a born and raised country boy that knows what it means to do a hard day's work. He's a simple man that will help out those that need it but isn't afraid to get his hands dirty. While his knowledge on politics and what's currently “in” is limited, he is far from air headed. Not super hip on modern technology, he understands that it's become part of everyday life and does what he can to try to keep up.



He's loyal to friends and kind to strangers. He would give the shirt off his back if it helped someone's life at least a little.



Powers: Light control: Zach is able to generate, manipulate and alter light.

Light storage: his cells act as mini batteries, storing photons for use when light sources are limited or non-existent



Light manipulation: Capable of altering the flow and movement of light particles, he's able to create shields, swords, beams, bombs and other simple constructs with light.



Light healing: When in sunlight, his body is able to use the energy of the sun to heal wounds. While he can heal minor wounds, ailments, and broken bones/organs faster than normal, if a body part is cut off, then it won't grow back.



Photonic Detonation: his ultimate and most dangerous move. By releasing all of the stored energy at once, this attack is capable of taking out a few city blocks, but leaves him weak and unable to control light for about a week.



super speed: using the energy he has stored up in his body, Zach can run up to 30 miles per hour for short distances.



Abilities: Rancher: Having grown up on a farm and ranch, Zach is skilled in farming, herding, lassoing, horse riding, and animal care.



Sharp shooter: having to shoot down scavengers, wolves, and other threats to livestock and crops, the man has learned how to barrel sight most weapons and can hit his target from about 300 yards with a rifle or 150 feet with his revolver.



Light mechanic: being that his truck is a 1986 square body pickup, it has certainly seen better days. Zach has learned enough to keep the old girl running and alive, but knows little about severe overhauls and major upgrades.



Camping: having spent a large number of nights under the stars, the farmer knows how to cook and prep food and game along with basic night travel by using the stars. He is also knowledgeable in having to make improvised shelters.



Gymnastics: Being part of the cheerleading squad in high school, Zach is flexible, fast, and agile. Although he's not as good as he was back then, his powers have helped him maintain most of capability.

Guitar: Having spent a lot of time to himself and with some help of a teacher in school, Zach has learned to play the acoustic guitar proficiently.



Weapons/Equipment: .357 revolver: his trusted six shooter, this gun packs a punch and is reliable in both accuracy and functionality.



.308 long rifle: often kept in the back of his truck, this rifle is known for its long reach and reliability.



Old Scottsdale: an old squarebody pickup, this truck is his main form of transportation. With the paint chipping and a little bit of rust, this classic powerhouse has seen better days but is far from giving up.



Brass Handles: Zach's loyal Clydsdale. This stallion is well taken care of and is still in his prime.



Syber: An ever faithful German Sheppard/Red heeler mix. This dog is loyal to it's owner and can round up livestock while defending the herd with ease.


Acoustic Guitar: an old guitar that was signed by a famous country singer, Zach will play this at times.


Multi-tool: a high quality leatherman multi tool pocket knife. He keeps the blade sharp enough he can shave with it and the tools well kept and oiled.

History: Born and raised in the farm lands of Idaho and Wyoming, Zach comes from a long line of ranchers and farmers, dating back to the times of the pilgrims. His family is well off, but prefers to use and reuse items and materials, making the most of what they can, for as long as they can. The Sainmore family consists of Mrs. Sainmore, Danny, Zach's older brother, Susan, Zach's younger sister, and the middle child, Zach. Their father left the country life after a few years. He was a well known weapons analyst and engineer that, after neos have started reappearing, was called back by the government to continue his work.



Life was simple for the family. They lived in a small town that consisted of only a few hundred residents. High School Football was the big talk and all of the elders focused on it. Danny was a local celebrity, being that he was the starting quarterback and even received a scholarship because of his capabilities. Zach wasn't the greatest at sports, but was never one to turn something down without trying it. While being on the grid iron wasn't his forte, he did find enjoyment being on the sidelines as a cheerleader. While he got a few jokes because of it, The Sainmore family fully support his choice, so long as he didn't let his home duties slip.



Shortly after entering freshman year, Mr. Sainmore contacted his family, notifying them of the revealing of his latest invention. When attending the showing of the atomic laser cannon, a weapon fully capable of taking out some of even the most powerful enemies that were falling from the sky, the family watched from the sidelines as it was charged up. Due to lack of attention from the babysitter on duty, Susan managed to get out and was walking in front of the weapon immediately before firing.



Sprinting as fast as he could, Zach raced to save his younger sibling while his father tried to shut down the machine. Due to an oversight in the cancellation sequence, one of the reaction chambers malfunctioned, sending out an unstable blast of energy, striking the teen.



After spending several weeks in the hospital, Zach finally woke up, but felt extremely weak. No matter what they did, medical staff could not get the boy to feel better, that is, until he was taken outside for a walk, within minutes of the solar rays hitting his body, the country boy started feeling better. Before too long, he was released from the hospital and sent home.



His father, regretful of what happened, quit his job and moved back home to stay with his family full time. Shortly afterwards, however, things started to change, Zach was noticing the occasional spark from his hands, or beam as he moved. Even his steps were faster. His family, fearing what would happen should word get out, kept his newfound powers a secret.



A few years after the incident, Zach was finally able to control his powers enough to blend into society and left the homestead in search of life outside the farm. While the family was reluctant of his choice, they still offerred support, knowing that he would do his best to stay safe as he made his journey to seek answers. Just what was going on, and why is the government so desperate to detain these newcomers that they are willing to risk civilians?



Weaknesses: Mirrors: anything that is highly capable of reflection will cause his light to bounce off, leaving little but a scratch.



Darkness: While his body is able to store energy, if he's in the darkness for too long, it can deplete his reserves, leaving him weak and vulnerable



Modern Technology: While he does his best to keep up with modern times and is fully aware of the internet and its capabilities, he has little need for a smart phone or other luxurious items. Such things can tend to annoy and confuse him as he isn't aware of how they fully work.



Someone in need: unable to turn a blind eye to someone that needs help, especially women or children, Zach will do what he can to help, even if it puts him in a precarious situation.



Human: Despite controlling light, he isn't made of the stuff and still has a fleshy body. As such, he can still be injured or killed like any normal human can.



Big Cities: Knowing that he won't be able to avoid them, Zach will reluctantly enter large cities, despite getting a lot of attention. An older pickup that isn't exactly quite towing a horse trailer does tend to turn a lot of heads. He does his best to act like he doesn't care, but deep down, it really bothers him.



Alone: Having spent so much of his life in the country-side and now by himself with only his dog and horse, Zach can't help but worry about his family. While he would like to go home more often to check up on them, it would defeat the purpose of him leaving.





Other Information: Despite being far from poor, Zach prefers to live a simple life.

His favorite music is country and hates rap or hip hop.

He stays at a small home that his uncle used to live in before passing away and was inherited by the Sainmores
