CAPTAIN COLD[/div]
Real Name: Leonard Snart
Alias: Captain Cold
Title: Ice-Cold Captain
Identity: Public
Age: 44
Species: Human
Physical Appearance:
Leonard is a leanly-built man standing just over six feet, with somewhat handsome features that make him look like he's still in his thirties despite being in his mid-forties. He keeps his graying hair shaved and often has a look of boredom or relaxed amusement on his face befitting his chill personality. When not on the job, Snart will wear whatever's comfortable at the time, typically longsleeve shirts and jeans. When he suits up, Captain Cold wears a longsleeve black thermal shirt, black jeans and motorcycle gloves and boots under a thick navy-blue parka with a fur-trimmed hood to protect from the intense cold his weapon tends to create, and topped with a pair of blue-tinted goggles to protect his eyes from the glare of his cold gun's rays.
Personality: Snart is an extremely level-headed and almost unfailingly calm individual, rarely ever losing his temper or allowing his emotions to get the better of him. On a normal day he demonstrates a snide, sardonic demeanor to almost anyone, even his allies and will never miss an opportunity to deliver a cutting remark the moment it arrives. Snart has no tolerance for stupidity or incompetence and will cut loose anyone that slows him down or shows any indication of betraying him.
Despite having not finished high school, Snart is a highly intelligent and cunning man with a great deal of patience when carrying out his crimes, staking a location weeks, sometimes even months in advance to study every detail and routine to emphasize on timing and reduced leads on him. As any plan can go off the rails with simple bad luck, Snart always comes prepared with a number of escape routes and backup leverage plotted out in advance, be it improvised traps or the assistance of his fellow Rogues.
Despite his ruthlessness, Snart is not without a code of honor: He will not kill unless he deems it absolutely necessary, such as in self-defense or to establish his authority to less honorable dissenters. He is also opposed to senseless mayhem and murder, and may even assist those attempting to prevent it if it is to his benefit, and will also keep his word(most of the time. He is still a criminal out for himself, after all). Furthermore, he gets along quite well with his fellow Rogues, especially Heat Wave, whom he has had a close friendship with for years even before becoming supervillains, and his little sister Lisa, whom he is very protective of. Cold also holds a level of genuine respect for the Flash, whom he considers a worthy opponent.
Snart also absolutely will not tolerate child abuse, having grown up in an abusive home himself and having spent much of his childhood defending Lisa from their alcoholic father.
Powers: None
Abilities:
Thieving: Snart is a world-class professional thief and burgler with many successful heists under his belt. From banks to jewelry stores to museums to even high-security government facilities, Snart has done them all and often walked away with what he came for.
Master Tactician: You wanna pull a heist, you plan it and expect the unexpected, and Snart's very good at that. He will spend weeks, or even months studying the place he intends to rob until he has remembered every architectural detail, escape route, place to park the getaway vehicle, staff and security(and resident vigilante) patrol routines, delivery dates, system schematics, and processing it down to how much time he will have to carry it out and when the time he will be least expected to do it will be, as well as a list of alternative courses should the plan fall apart.
Escape Artist: Snart has broken out of many a prison more times then he can remember, and has a number of methods and plans ready for each time he's incarcerated.
Pickpocketing: The most basic of thievery, Snart is a skilled pickpocket who knows how to make his target comfortable around him and lower their guard down so he can slip his hand into their pocket or purse and make off with their wallet without their notice.
Lock-Picking: Snart knows his way around locks, from dial locks to vault doors and how to get them open.
Tech Knowledge: Captain Cold has knowledge of how security systems work and how to disable them, as well as how to hack computerized panel locks. Snart is also fully familiar with his Cold Gun, having disassembled, studied, and reassembled it countless times to make repairing it easy and to ensure if he needs it replaced no one can tamper with it without his notice.
Hand-To-Hand: Though he rarely needs to demonstrate it, Snart is a decent hand-to-hand combatant, more then willing to show his opponents he is not entirely reliant on his weapon in a fight when he has to.
Marksman: Snart is an excellent shot and fully proficient with a gun, with precise aim even in high-stress situations as he hardly ever loses his cool.
Weapons/Equipment:
Cold Gun: Captain Cold's primary weapon is a high-tech gun that contains a cyclotron micro-engine that generates a beam of subzero cold in the form of a beam or blast of "white flame" that instantly freezes anything on impact and rendering it extremely brittle. Its initial purpose was to be used as a weapon to stop the Flash should he go rogue, as its intense cold temporature is powerful enough to completely incapacitate (and possibly kill) the Flash.
History: The son of alcoholic cop Lewis Snart, Leonard spent much of his childhood on the receiving end of his father's abuse, only finding safety when his kind grandfather would bring him along on rides in his ice cream truck to get him away from Lewis, where the cold air was offset by how safe he felt away from his father. After his sister Lisa was born and their grandfather had passed away when Leonard had gotten to his early teens, Leonard did all he count to shield Lisa from their father(with varying levels of success) until Lewis was arrested for trying to steal an emerald from the Central City museum, leaving the two alone and without parents.
Rather then allow his sister to go into the system, Leonard dropped out of High School and turned to crime to make fast and large amounts of money necessary to support Lisa and himself so she could have as much of a normal life as possible, until his own arrest years later where in prison he befriended Mick Rory, and after breaking out the two became partners, with Lisa joining them not long after when she desired to be a part of her brother's "career", though Leonard had kept her restricted to behind the scenes work such as being their getaway driver to keep her safe while he was on the job.
Leonard and Mick continued to run heists together until an eventual falling-out when Mick's temper got the better of him and compromised their escape, and Leonard struck out alone, forbidding Lisa to come with him as to keep her out of trouble while he was on the run from the law.
Things changed when a hero called the Flash surfaced in Central City, thwarting one of Snart's armored truck heists and Snart deduced a weakness in the Flash's abilities when the liquid nitrogen he used to open the truck had affected him. Using this knowledge, Snart used his connections and a stolen cyclotron engine to commission a "Cold Gun" to help him take on the scarlet speedster, and a rivalry was born.
Over the next several months, Snart eluded capture and eventually discovered the Flash's identity, threatening to use it against him if he is arrested, but the Flash was able to appeal to Snart's ego and conscience by convincing him that if he was as competent a thief as he claimed to be, he wouldn't need to kill anyone. Snart would later meet up with Mick Rory again and provide him with another weapon he'd had commissioned, a "Heat Gun" as he was looking to return to his crimes with a little backup, and Heat Wave would become the next member of his "Rogues", followed by Lisa who had broken them out of police custody after their next fight with the Flash, taking up the title of the "Golden Glider".
Snart and his rogues continued their rivalry with the Flash until a strange phenomenon occurred, reality shifted and twisted, and Snart found himself in a different world. Not entirely different, in fact very similar to his own but clearly not his own. Always a man who kept himself cool-headed and not letting emotion get the better of him, Snart quickly chose to make the most of his situation and resume his criminal activities on this world. Maybe he'd see the Flash and his Rogues again, maybe he wouldn't, but he would not sit around waiting.
Weaknesses:
Mortal: Snart is a normal human with average strength and has all the same weaknesses normal humans have.
Cocky: While certainly in a position to take pride in his cunning and skill as a thief due to his competence, Snart can still overestimate himself from time to time, as it is easy to overlook those possibilities where the plan doesn't just go off the rails, but does so in a way there is absolutely no escape from courtesy of simple bad luck(like, say, seven superheroes convening for a party at the restaraunt right across the street from where you're about to rob a bank truck). As a result, he can't plan for everything even when he thinks he has, and when things truly spiral for him, he may find himself at a complete disadvantage where he is forced to surrender.
Lisa: Leonard's younger sister Lisa is the one person he deeply cares for, and while initially reluctant to let her into his life of crime and make her a target of the law, he decided to allow her to do so if it meant he'd be able to keep an eye on her. He had spent his childhood shielding her from their father's abuse, and his teen and early adult years supporting her, and is very protective of her. While he knows she can handle herself for the most part with all he has taught her, Leonard still worries about her safety from time to time and will endanger his own life to protect hers just as he had done growing up.
