Timeline: After: To Protect the Innocent Previous Threads: NA Characters Involved: Corvin SullivanLocation: Sun City Today was the school trip to the Butterfly Center where they kept live butterflies and other insects so that people could learn about them. Lian was excited, she loved the zoo and the aquarium it was only going to get better with a visit to see bugs. After all, this little squirt was way more into boy things then she was with girl stuff. Yet she still did play with barbies every once in a while. That was if you considered playing superhero and bad guy a Barbie game. The morning went just about the same as it did every morning. The bus came and picked her up, took her to school, she said good morning to her teacher and kicked a bully in the back of the knee, was sent to the principal and given a lecture about how kicking isn't the best way to stop bullies, and then sent back to class with a warning. After the morning excitement the class filed into the bus and Lian got to sit next to Luke who was one of her best friends and just happened to be her trip buddy, she would have gotten paired with another female but Lian didn't seem to get along with any of them. She always seemed to give the excuse that they didn't like her and they excluded her, but Luke liked her and that's all that mattered to Lian. So during the bus ride, the two played all sorts of games, from I Spy to twenty questions. They also spoke about the Heroes and the Bad Guys, this was Lian's favorite topic and she was sure that Luke knew that. Lian never spoke about if she knew them or that she was indeed a hero in training but she spoke highly of all of the heroes, even the ones from worlds beyond hers. As a hero was a hero no matter where from, or how they got there. That's what she learned from her daddy. Once they got to the Butterfly Center the groups went into the bathroom and Luke and Lian split up. After their respectful times in the bathroom the two grouped up again and Lian and Luke ran to the spiders. "Arnt they pretty!" Lian spoke as she pointed to the Black Widow that was behind a glass case. "They sure are. I just hope they don't get out." The boy said in response. The two even got to hold a tarantula named baby and they were both so excited. The two spent the whole afternoon looking at bugs and butterflies and even some of the fish they had there. Though Lian wasn't too sure about why they had fish at a bug exhibit but she sure was happy to see a blue tang and a clown fish together. "It's Dory and Nemo!" She called out to the boy who was looking at the starfish. It wasn't long before it was time for lunch. "I forgot my lunch on the bus. I'll be right back." The girl spoke as she ran out the door before Luke could follow her. Lian was used to doing things on her own and never really put much thought into it. She wasn't aware that when she had run out of the building that she was actually running into a new city, and when she did notice, the girl rolled her eyes. "Again! Not again! I just got my daddy back!" The girl flopped herself down on a curb and sighed, she didn't even get a chance to get her lunch.

Cor walked through the city streets, humming a song under his breath. He'd had a decent enough day today...Earlier that morning he'd gotten paid a decent amount of cash for delivering things,and his busking dance had been received well enough today...All in all, a very good start indeed,and something that kinda cheered him up. Well,that's till he saw the small girl on the curb,and heard about she had to say about her predicament. Oh no...That didn't sound good...Brows furrowing in concern, he walks over and looks at her with a reassuring, if somewhat small, smile. Speaking up in a soft, slightly hesitant voice,the boy asked after her. "Is everything ok? D-do you need any help,kiddo?"He adjusted his shades a tad nervously, waiting for her answer. At least she didn't seem hurt, or scared...Hopefully that was a good sign. In fact, if anything she seemed a tad annoyed. A brave kid,for sure. Hopefully he'd be able to help her out. Speedy III

The young girl pulled her knees to her chest and just thought. She wasn't too happy that she was stuck in a new world without her bow and arrow and that she was alone again. It was a feeling that she hated, but she knew she could survive until her daddy came for her. He would have to realize she was missing again, at least once school was over. It was then a voice called out to her, it seemed friendly and the young girl responded with a smile. "No, everything is not okay. I lost my world again." The small one huffed and looked at the boy. He was playing with his shades and that reminded her of her Uncle Dick. He always wore shades when he was younger at least to help hide his secret identity, but as time went on he showed Roy who he was and that's how Lian gained another cool uncle. "I like your Shades." She spoke as she stood up. "I'm Lian Harper." She then offered a hand to the boy. She did seem a bit more happier then she did a few moments ago. "You wouldn't happen to know where a sports shop is around here would you? If I'm starting over in this world I will need a few things." She spoke as if she had done this all before. Corvin Sullivan

Oh no...the poor kid was a Vagrant. He frowned sympathetically. "I'm really sorry, kiddo. I'll...I'll try to help you out, I promise." Thankfully, she'd appeared in Sun City. This place was safe enough...At least far safer then the Outside. Wait...Did she say again? Did that mean she had been in another world before showing up in his, or... The boy is distracted from these thoughts when Lian says she likes his shades.Blinking in surprise under said eye coverings, Cor glances back down at her, a small smile appearing again. "Thank you." Nodding as she introduces herself, he accepts the offered hand and gives a gentle handshake. "It's nice to meet you, Lian, I'm Corvin. Corvin Sullivan."She seemed to be a bit more cheerful then a few minutes ago..That was good.Hopefully he'd be able to help her find a safe place, or maybe even her family. Head tilting as she asks about a sports store, Cor's brows furrowed in concern as he gave a thoughtful hum. "M-maybe...but..uhm..what exactly do you need?" She certainly seemed like she knew what she was doing,but it was still a tad concerning. She was even younger then him,after all. Speedy III

Lian smiled as he asked what she would need. She took a deep breath and began to speak. "Well, I will need a bow and some arrows, a quiver to hold my arrows and a first aid kit. Preferably one with Hello Kitty stickers. Arrows are sharp and well when bad guys bleed I need to make sure they have a band-aid to help." She stood from the curb, "I also need to stop by a fabric store... Got to remake my costume. This world needs a Speedy and well ill be that Speedy." She spoke just like her father , she knew what she needed, and how to do it. She didn't have any money but she wasn't too worried about that. It wasn't too hard to get money. "If I cant get those then I'll just have to get a mask and go as Cheshire, but I won't be as bad as my mommy, I'll just be a ninja." Lian looked at the boy. "Yeah, I'm a superhero. No big deal." She giggled. "Well, are we going to go find some hero stuff. "My daddy is a hero too, my whole family is in the masked business. My mommy's side of the family is too but mostly all of them are or were bad guys, except for auntie Artie, she's a good guy like me. Nana Paula was a bad girl until she had my mommy and my auntie but now she is just a nana." She watched the boy as she explained a good chunk of her past. Cor listened as the young girl lists off the first two things she wants, eyes widening behind the shades as he does so. She...she wanted a actual bow and arrows?! The boy's brows furrow worriedly as he looks down to her,and he considers how best to respond to that. He definitely couldn't let her get something like weapons,not as young as she was. Granted, that was a tad rich coming from him, considering his...nightime job, but it wasn't like he went in for direct,actual combat unless needed be.The Puppets usually did his job for him on that score! Wasn't like this city had alot of crime either...Though maybe he could get her a basic first aid kit. It'd wipe out a good part of his money,and he'd have to work hard tomorrow to re-earn it, but at least he could help her out somewhat... As the girl moves onto mentioning needing fabric for a costume, he refocuses,head tilting to the side slightly. Speedy??? Maybe that was that some sort of character from a show in her world? As she ruminates on just getting a mask and going as Chesire,he blinked, only to blink again as she looked up at him and mention she was a superhero. "A...superhero? U-uhm, what's that?" As Lian explains about her family past, he listens, nodding slightly with a thoughtful frown. So...her family were...heroes?Well, and reformed bad guys...Anyway,that might explain why she was intent on getting bad guys...Cor smiled at her. "That sounds like a interesting family, Lian,and a good one." Well,even with a few bad apples in the barrel. With such a cheerful kid,even they shouldn't be too terrible. "A-and I suppose we c-could go get you some supplies,though I-I don't think we'll be able to get you a bow and a-arrows."Speedy III

Lian stopped when he said that they couldn't get a bow and arrow. Perhaps it was because he wasn't above the idea of borrowing one or perhaps the place didn't really sell those items. Money didn't even cross the young girl's mind, so she thought. "I can always make some. Papa Arrow was making one once, I was watching. I could probably try to do it myself." She paced a bit trying to remember the memory. "I wish I hadn't left New York. My daddy is going to be so worried, and what about uncle Jay, he's in desperate need of Lian time." She let out a sigh, all she really wanted was to go home to her daddy and to Jason. Just the thought of leaving her family for the second time seemed to bear down on the young child.
"I guess I should ask, where am I and how do I get home?" she looked at the boy with a curious look.

Cor bit his lip nervously as she stopped. He hoped she wasn't too upset about it. As she thinks outloud about making some, the boy blinks. "You...know how to make a bow and arrows??" Huh...That was kinda interesting...and cool too! Head tilting as she mentions New York, his brows furrow slighlty at how heavyhearted she seemed. Giving her a reassuring smile, he nods in a determined manner. "No worries, kiddo, cause I'm going to do my upmost best to get you back to your family, ok?And if that can't happen,then I'm going to help you get settled down here in this world. I'll have your back,no matter what."
At the question,he gives a thoughtful hum. "Well, Lian,you're in Sun City. It's a safe haven for those are, well, different, and those who want no part in a..." Cor bites his lip nervously,debating on telling her about all the...anger...that was going on, then decides on a ok way to describe it. "...a d-debate across the world,about those who are different. Here, we're all safe,and we all help each other. Though, there are bad apples...but not many at all,and they get dealt with, for sure." Especially if him and his alter ego had any say about it."And...as for the second part of your question, it...depends. You said you've come from two worlds before this one, right? Can...can you tell me about that second world?" The boy had a hunch, though, admittedly he was no detective. He could be completely and utterly wrong, and if that was the case this poor girl wouldn't be able to get back to her family, not...not till they traveled here as well. Still, Cor said he was going to help her,and he meant it.

Lian smiled and sat back down next to the boy. "Sun City... Sounds like a story Zatanna used to tell me about. But the place I come from is, well the second world that is. Its called New York, and I live with my daddy and sometimes my uncle Jay stops by and we have dinner. The place isn't too kind to the people who come from my world so they often hunt people down, but I protect them. Well, Daddy and I do. We protect everyone who needs us too." She spoke with a smile on her face. "One day I hope my whole family comes to this world so we can be happy again. Papa Arrow, Nana Canary, even Mommy. Though shes a bad guy, I still love her though. Just sometimes people do bad things because its what they were raised to do. Except for Auntie Arty, she turned out to be a good guy thanks to papa arrow. Though her and daddy didn't get along at first." Lian spoke on about her family and the place she was originally from and how she wished everyone would show up. She then took quite as she looked up at him. "My daddy would like you. You want to protect his little Squeaker." She giggled with a happy smile. "We can be friends forever. When I grow up and become Red Hood I'll protect you!" Lian spoke with the hopes that she would grow up to take on the name Jason had, She wanted nothing more than to help keep the Red Hood name strong. Sure being called Arsenal II would be fun but it just wasn't the same. Corvin Sullivan

As the little girl sat down beside him, Corvin sat down with her, listening with as she speaks,though his eyes widen behind the shades as she mentions a familiar name. Listening as Lian continues explaining about the second world she'd come from,the boy frowns slightly. "Z-Zatanna? That's odd...I've heard rumors about a Magician with magic...b-both tricks and actual Power....that has that name...They say she's disappeared though,locked herself away in her mansion and not come out..."He glances down thoughtfully, ruminating on the building similarities between this second world of hers and the one he's known. Glancing back up at the girl as she speaks more about her family,Corvin nods, listening with a small smile.Yeah,it sounded like she had a good family,for sure...badness in one or two of them nonwithstanding. The kiddo had the right of it,the boy figured,when she said that sometimes people do bad things just because that was what they knew to do. Giving her a wider smile, he nods. "I-I'm sure they'll show up sooner or later, Kiddo." Blinking as she quiets down,looking up at him, the boy blinks before giving a hesitant smile at her comment. "Y-you really think he'd like me?And y-yeah...You needed help,after all."At the second statement, his head tilts slightly,then Cor gives a big grin,reaching out to ruffle Lian's hair. "It'll be good,to have a...another freind..And I bet you're going to be a great protector,a legends and history books grade one." He smiles at her,then he gives a thoughtful hum. "Y-you mentioned people from your world being hunted...C-can you tell me if you recognize the words Neo, and Vagrant?"Speedy III

Some legends are told Some turn to dust or to gold But you will remember me “ Lian just about lost her marbles when the boy said he had heard of Zatanna and her magic but got a bit sad when he said she had locked herself away. Lian knew Zatanna was a busy woman and that she loved her shows, so hearing that she locked herself away was kind of odd behavior. She looked at the boy with the most serious of looks.
"We have to check on her sooner or later, she might really need some help." The girl spoke in a caring tone. "If for some reason I can't go will you go in my place, I will give you a secret word that will have Shadowcrest open for you." She giggled with a huge smile. "It's a funny word and you have to say it backward." She then wispered the secert word into his ear. Roy seemed to like a good chunk of Lian's friends so she didn't see any issues about Roy not liking Corvin. He then went along with her wants to be a hero and that only made her happier. She loved when people could understand her greatest hope and dream. He then asked about a few words from her other world and she nodded. "I'm a vigrant but don't tell anyone. The government doesn't like us in the last world I was on. Which is sad because most of us are good people." She spoke with a quiet tone as though she was keeping it all huge secret. ”

Cor smiled at the girl's excitement,though that faded at the sadness and rather serious look.As Lian spoke up in a concerned manner, the boy nodded in agreement,giving a serious frown of his own,and nodded again when she makes her request.He listens as the younger child whispers the word into his ear,and focuses on remembering it for a bit before he smiles reassuringly at Lian. "No worries. I promise, I'll check on her soon for you."Listening as Lian responds to his question,Cor frowns slightly,nodding. "Y-you're right, it is sad. I'm sorry you have and your dad have to deal with it, Lian." He sighs. "Hopefully, everyone'll be able to let go of their fear and hate towards each other..." Shaking his head, the boy glances over at her, smiling. "I do have some good news,though. From the sounds of it,I should be able to get you back to where you came from."Speedy III

The boy said he could get her back to where she came from and she squealed with excitement. This day was filled with ups and downs but she was indeed glad that her new friend could take her home. She grasped the boy in the tightest hug she could give, which would be stronger than the regular eight-year-old hug, not super strong but just a bit above average. After the hug, she bounced around with an energy that she seemingly got out of nowhere. "Since you can get me home, then perhaps you can show me this place!" She said as she motioned to the place around them in excitement. She didn't see any harm in looking around if she could get home. She then grabbed the boys hand and started to pull him, towards the buildings. "Come on Corvin lets go play!" She giggled as she tried to move the boy on her own but it just wasn't happening, after all, she was still only eight. "I'm sure there is something fun we can do before you take me home to daddy." She giggled and smiled brightly at the boy. "Is there any heroes here besides Zatanna? Perhaps we can go see them?" She asked curiously. Corvin Sullivan

Cor blinked at the excited squeal,blinking again as she gives him a surprisingly strong hug.Head tilting at the sudden appearance of energy, the boy gives a amused chuckle,only for his brows to furrow at the child's statement. He gave a thoughtful hum,considering. He wasn't completely sure on whether he should go ahead and take her on a tour, or just take her home. Letting himself be,even if somewhat reluctantly, tugged along, Corvin glanced down at her and responded. "I'd be h-happy to show you Sun City, but don't you have school?" He honestly wasn't sure about that. Considering how long it'd been since he'd been in school, it was possible they did a policy change,or were out today.Head tilting as the little girl asked if there were any superheroes and if they could visit them, the young demigod scratched at his cheek. "Uhm...w-well, there's...at least one, I s-suppose, though he's...kinda s-secretive." 'I'm not sure if there's any other...superheroes other than me(I do count, right? Maybe I'm just being overconfident) in the city,though Ms. Zatanna counts as well. But, she's not really visitable at the moment.'Speedy III

He asked if she had school and she nodded "Yeah but I've been to a butterfly pavilion before I haven't been here before." She giggled as she watched the boy. She gave him a look of just how mischievous she was. She almost had Cheshire cat smile on her face which really made her look like her mother, not that Corvin would know who that was but she still had the look. "You could be in school too you know but your here with me instead." She had a point, even if corvin was in sun city for safety he was still only a teenager and well Teenagers had to go to school too right? So she pushed that smile and was making really good points for ditching school. "Besides, I'll tell daddy what happened and he will understand. He might be mad at me for a while but I can handle it. He might be mad at Zee too but she has charms." The little girl giggled and watched the boy. Corvin Sullivan
