John Dee wanted to be many things. He wanted to be a hero, he wanted to be a king, he wanted to be praised, and he wanted to be loved. That was not his destiny, however. He was fated since birth to become the hideous creature that you see now. Destined only to be loathed, like a cockroach or my mother in-law. Forces outside of his control landed his mother a powerful and ancient artifact of the Sandman, the Dreamstone. A stone which she gave him, time and time again, until her death, in which it became his most prized heirloom. When Dee was first granted this gift by his mother it was unstable, and totally beyond his control. The madman tinkered and corrupted the gem, and very soon his Materioptikon was born. Dee now uses this device to creep his way into the minds of anyone asleep, manipulating, consuming, and controlling their dreams to do his bidding.





Friends
John Dee's only friend is his Materioptikon. He talks to it, whispers to it, and occasionally does... Other things to it.

Apart from his Ruby, the only other people John is even remotely friendly towards are his fellow Arkham patients, Jonathan Crane (the Scarecrow) and Preston Payne (Clayface III)





Enemies
Doctor Destiny has a very personal and very vicious vendetta against the Justice League. This profound hatred, while rooted in only a few members, branches into anyone even remotely associated with them. This even extends to many of their villains, many of which Dee has complex and ever changing thoughts over. These thoughts can range (on an hourly basis) from envy to idolization.





Family
John Dee had a very... Odd and intimate relationship with his beloved mother. She was the only soul he'd ever confide in, and she was the only one that would support and inspire him, through thick and thin.
