Timeline: During Super Soldier Showdown
Previous Threads: Super Soldier Showdown
Characters Involved: Calamity, reporter NPCs
Location: All across the country
All across North America, news stations and various other news platforms would release the following speech to the public:
"My name is Peyton Powers, and I am a neo-human. I am also Calamity, one of the most wanted women in America. And I say these words not with guilt or as an admittance of a misdeed, but I say these words with pride swelling in my chest. A weight has lifted from my soul, and I am never going back. I am never going to hide who I am ever again, even at the cost of my own life or freedom. And I do this not just for myself, but to spread a message out there to the neo-humans of the world who feel that they have to hide who they truly are in order to survive. What good is the freedom you have now, if you're forced to live a false life and deny your identity? A false life is a worthless one! A life lived in fear is a life not to be valued! Neo-human brothers and sisters, allies, now is our time to bare ourselves to the world! It is our time to grasp a new day, and seize a life worth living! Don't let them snuff out your light! Don't be silenced!
But do not turn to your fellow man with hatred in your hearts. Their fear, and their violence is born from ignorance. Instead we must paint our own portrait of ourselves to make them understand who we truly are. A portrait of kindness and humanity. We are neo-humans, but we are also just people. We love, we laugh, we cry, we hurt. We are flawed and imperfect. We are... human. Neo-humans and humans without abilities are one in the same. We are your neighbors, your friends, your lovers, and your family. We are everyone.
We are...
You.
This will be the last time I speak publicly, as I expect that very shortly I will be silenced by the government of the United States of America. If I am to die, then I part this world knowing that I've used my life serving my fellow man.
And there has never been, nor will there ever be, no greater honor than serving all of you."
As the speech would come to an end, everyone handled it a little differently on the air. Plastic reporters got their word in edge-wise and moved on to the heart-warming story about how a dog rescued little Timmy from the well. Others sat and debated the content of the message, and the credibility of the writer. Nit-picking at her life, and her story, calling her every creative name that came to mind: Traitor. Terrorist. Neo-scum. B*tch. Each name more creative than the last, whatever raked in the views.
But the letter wasn't for them. It was a message for the people. Peyton's only hope for the letter was that maybe.. it'd make somebody feel a little less alone. Maybe even make them brave. But whether it accomplished that... that was another story.
((Please react if you think your character would see this ^^ would mean a lot to me <3 ))
