Name: Alicia Vasquez
Occupation: Med Student
Relation to Character: Medical practitioner for the Hood Gang in NYC/Part of Red Hood's inner circle of “Unfortunates”
Description: Short, spunky, and with ample curves in all the right places, Alicia is a street-savvy young woman who knows how to spit fire, tell it how it is, and has no time for the idiocy of others. Intelligent to a fault, with a tendency to just speak her mind and just tell it how it is, she has a strong snark streak about her and a lack of verbal filter. Her sharp tongue leads her to be a very “love her or hate her” type of lady, and has put her and those she considers friend into more than enough predicaments. Puerto Rican by heritage, Alicia has a much warmer skin tone and thick, dark, curly hair that she has accented with pastel pink highlights throughout. She has been accused on occasion of having resting B*tch face, but she is not one to hide a smile or act cold towards others if they are in need of her assistance or company, though she refuses to sugarcoat her thoughts on the matter when doing so. Alicia is much more the type of woman who wants to help find a solution to a problem, as opposed to simply dwelling upon it.
Short History: The daughter of a single immigrant father and a runaway mother, Alicia Vasquez was not one born with a silver spoon in her mouth, and was painfully aware of it for the majority of her life. Everything she ever wanted in life needed to be earned through blood, sweat, tears, and a lot of hard work, but at the very least, she knew she had the support of her father every step of the way, no matter what. He had raised her on his own, the girl's mother having shed her responsibilities and left the two of them behind without so much as a goodbye, and struggled from the bottom to give Alicia as good a life as he could in this country, instilling his hearty sense of work ethic and a belief in the American dream into her. Alicia was determined to become great and prove her family's name had worth. She studied hard, was top in all of her classes, and was on the fast track to the medical degree that she had been striving for.
Until, of course, tragedy struck, as it so often does, to turn Alicia's world upside down. Her father was diagnosed with late stage colon cancer, leading her to drop out of school in order to save a little extra money for his treatments and take better care of him. He begged her to continue her schooling, wrought with guilt that his child would give up on her dreams for one condemned to illness, but Alicia was a dutiful and faithful daughter, refusing to give up on him for even a second. However, the medical bills were way too high for her to handle on just her college student level wages and her father's disability. Through desperation and despair, she ended up meeting the owner of a seedy mob-run escort service and took on a job with him for the extra cash. Her father had done everything he could to take care of her, and she felt she owed him the same – there was no level she wouldn't sink to in order to save his life.
Red Hood came into Alicia's life quite unexpectedly when she was called upon by her boss to “entertain” a special guest that was visiting for the evening. The mysterious masked crime lord had been making waves in New York's underbelly rather quickly and even more violently, and her boss thought it better to assuage the new player into working with them as opposed to standing against him as so many other gangs had tried to and paid the price for. With the promise of a heftier paycheck for taking care of him, Alicia agreed to spend the evening with Hood and “show him the time of his life.”
She was left for a bit of a surprise, however, when Red Hood simply wanted to talk with her about this and that – literature, philosophy, all manner of topics - as they lay in bed together to catch their breath. She was taken a bit aback when he casually mentioned that she seemed just a bit too smart for a girl walking the streets for money, and asked her what her story was. How did she come to this sort of life? Ever the savvy opportunist, her own goals always in the forefront of her mind, Alicia instead offered him a deal. If Red Hood stops by to request her once a week, paying the same larger sum that he had tonight, she'd give him a little more of her story.
The two of them met up several times, the extra money certainly helping keep the bills paid and the medical costs down, and Alicia found herself growing rather fond of her masked regular. He didn't speak much about himself, only asking her questions about her own life, and when pressed about his own, he simply responded, “That wasn't our arrangement.” Eventually, the whole story had come forward, and Alicia had nothing left to tell Red Hood to keep their arrangement intact. She sarcastically asked him if that was it to this whole deal, that he had his fun at her expense and he was finally going to get off her couch and get going to the next unfortunate soul. He told her instead that he wanted to send her back to school and hire her full time as his own personal physician. She was far too smart for this gig, and he'd be able to pay her way more under his employ anyway. Alicia agreed, and a new arrangement was created.
