Timeline: TBD Previous Threads: N/A Characters Involved: Corvin, @zach, muggers those they were trying to and mug. Location: In a small town relatively close to New York
Cor strode through the small town, humming a song under his breath as he glanced around. He'd decided to wander around a bit,and maybe snag a few essentials, since he didn't have any deliveries to do today.Passing a couple of people, the boy gives them a friendly, if small, wave, adjusting his shades a tad nervously when they've passed by. Hopefully he'd be able to find some brown contacts here. Until then, Cor'd just have to make absolutely sure his shades wouldn't slip.
Spotting a decently sized shopping ceenter, the young nightmage relaxes in relief, walking towards it. However, his attention is grabbed as he hears voices, two panicked and the others smug, coming from a short alleyway. Pausing, the boy frowns, then pulls on his mask, the meshcovered eyeholes flashing red as he walks into the literally shady area...
Meanwhile, in a yard like space on the other side of that alley, a couple were being mugged by a decent sized group of thugs. What seemed to be the leader tapped a metal bat into his palm, his pose arrogantly relaxed. "C'mon,C'mon. Hurry it up slowpoke. Cash, jewelry, so on and so forth." "Y-yes,anything you say. Please, don't hurt us." The man grinned, tapping his palm a little harder."Heh...no promises. "Oh god..."
Cor examined the scene for a second, brows furrowed. That was alot more bad guys than he was used too...His eyes go to the people being mugged, then narrow in determination. Then again, that didn't really matter. The boy steps out of the shadows, speaking up. "Leave them alone."
The leader turns around, doing a double take as he notices the mask."What the fu-What's with the getup? And why should we, you little brat?" Skotos's eyes glow red as he points to a spot behind the thug. "Because I don't like bullies, and neither do my friends."
The man and his crew gives him a unamused(though with some it was slightly freaked instead, considering the red glowing eyes,) look, and turn their heads to look. "What fre-ah, s hit!!" This heartfelt sentiment was because horrific, pure black hounds had arisen from the darkness, and were slowly strolling towards them.
Seeing a opportunity, the couple dashes out of the way and towards safety as one of the thugs panic and swings a tire jack at one of the monsters. Blinking as the weapon carries through the hound way too easily, ripping it apart, the thug quickly points to his boss.
Blinking at what he's told, batguy's eyes narrow, and he takes a swing of his own, easily collapsing the Puppet. Turning his heads, he glares at Skotos, who gulps. "Well well, these friends of yours are mighty flimsy, aren't they?Boys, let's teach this damn Neospawn a lesson." As they approach him, getting weapons and cracking knuckles, Skotos hastily forms a shortstaff from raw shadowstuff. And then, they fight.
Cor manages to hold out for about 30 seconds, but they quickly overwhelm him. The boy soon finds himself slammed agains a wall, the lead thug's baseball bat pinning him by pressing into his chest. The leader gives a vengeful smirk, and casually puts weight onto the bat, drawing out a pained gasp from Cor."Y'know, there's a few options here. I could turn you in, beat you till you decide to accept my....'recruitment' offer,or just plain beat you and leave you for dead." He taps his finger against his chin in a mocking manner. Choices, choices. What will I do?"

There were few places in the area that new how to properly care for an old beat-up tractor. Luckily, there just so happened to be a mechanic shop a few cities over from Zach's ranch that was capable and willing to do the job. He made the mistake of attempting to lift more than the vehicle was meant for and, while the pump and motor held up just fine, the hydraulic line and piston did not. As soon as the line split, the front plow slammed to the ground, busting the piston and rendering the entire lift useless. So, after managing to get the old farm machine loaded onto a trailer and hauled out to the shop, Zach's day was already going sour. This would put him out quite a bit of money and it would leave a job that could've been done today to be finished at a later date. With the repairs going to take several hours, the cowboy decided he might as well have a look around the area. Who knows, he might find something that Talos would enjoy. As well as she has been adapting to the country life and with the amount of help she has given on the farm, the boy figured she deserved a reward. Walking down main street, he saw several shops that peaked his interest. He could always get her a new hat... that way she'll stop stealing his. Or perhaps a new jacket? There were a bunch of possibilities, however, before he could actually pick one, a scream could be heard coming from an old alley way. Without any hesitation, the country boy bolted towards the source. Seeing several thugs cornering a couple, he was about to jump in when what appeared to be a small boy confronted them. Seeing how large the muggers were, Zach already knew the direction that this was heading. Something stopped him in his tracks though. Two large dog-like creatures practically walked out of the shadows, as if they were there the entire time. Not only was this boy in over his head, but he was neo as well? Running in towards the crowd, he delivered a powerful haymaker to the first man that came towards him, the strike leaving him unconscious before he hit the ground. As a second one charged the rancher, Zach leaned in, hunched his shoulders and slammed into him with all his body weight. Despite the man being practically built like a wall, the farm boy was able to lift his feet off the ground with ease and used his victim as a battering ram to crash into the leader of the gang. Standing back up, Zach straightened his hat and dusted off his shirt a bit. " Ah don't know who you are, but y'all must be dumber than a sack of rocks if it takes a whole group to fight one kid. Y'all wanna tussle? Fine by me. 'bout time somebody taught y'all how we do it out west." Corvin Sullivan

"You know what, Neospawn? I'm just gonna start beating you, then decide wha-" His threat is interrupted as he hears the thud of a body falling down, and glanced over just in time to catch sight of the fleshy battering ram that bowled him over and away from Cor.Said boy quickly used the opportunity to dash over to Zach's side, a short, black rod slipping out of his sleeve. Normally,he'd be at least slightly more hesitant about stepping that close to someone he didn't know, but he knew a ally when he saw one. The leading thug shoves his dazed subordinate off of him with a angry mutter, and used his bat to help himself back up. "Stupidity's got nothing to do with it, hayseed. He had it coming, sticking his nose in matters that didn't concern him. Besides, why do you even care? In case you didn't notice, he's a Neo, a little freak."He paused, then gestured at the two. "And I'm the one doing the teaching here. Get them, boys!!" What was left of the group charged at Zach and Skotos. As one got too close to him, Cor smacked his shin with the rod, provoking both a blast of pain through said extremity and a angry curse. He followed up with a shoulder ram into the waist of the thug while he clutches at hid shin in a effort to knock him over. Zach Sainmore

Rolling his shoulders back to help loosen up his muscles, the country boy was prepared to fight and wasn't afraid to get dirty. As the leader charged at Zach, he swayed to the left, narrowly missing the bat, as another swing came immediately after, the boy dodged it, once more. Spartan kicking him in the gut, the farmer was able to get the instigator away from him just long enough to be struck in the back by a 2x4 that the other thug picked up. Clearly this wasn't going to be a fair fight. Lucky for him, the rancher had a few tricks up his sleeve. Reaching down to his hip and unsnapping the leather wrap, before picking up the object, a thick rope as now swinging over Zach's head, the end forming a nice circle as he prepared to entrap his first victim. The wooden fighter charged again but quickly found himself unable to move as the rope bit into his skin and, like a boa constrictor, quickly tightened its grip as it's wielder pulled him close, threw him to the ground and, in a matter of seconds, had him hogtied with his legs and arms behind his back.Smirking at his speedy takedown, the farm hand had little time to enjoy it as the metal bat came swing at him. Rolling to the side, instead of the leader striking the outsider, he clonked his alley hard over the head, causing him to go unconscious. Knowing that if this keeps up, there's a very high chance that somebody will get severely injured, Zach drew his pistol and fired at shot at the ground in front of the bully, barely missing his shoe. " Ah'm a good shot and, seein' how ammo is gettin' pricey, that's the only warnin' shot your gonna get. Ah don't care if he's a neo or not. Heck, he could be the son of a terrorist for all ah care. He is what he is, nothin' he can do about it. So long as he ain't hurtin' nobody, it ain't my business and ah'll defend the innocent. The way ah see it, you have two options. Apologize to the boy, take your friends, an' get outta here, or take a bullet and have the ambulance or the morgue pick you up. Your call." As if to drive his point home, Zach pulled the hammer back on his gun until it clicked, preparing to fire the next round. Corvin Sullivan

Skotos managed to knock over the first thug that'd come at him, and occupies him further with a smack to the side of the head. As another came at him, he held out a empty hand, a pure black, snake like creature coursing out to silently snap at his face. The thug blanches, instinctively backpedaling, and received a rod lunge to his gut for the trouble.Growling angrily, the man reached forward, ready to grab Skotos up and hurt him, but jumped as a gunshot blasts out. So did Cor, and the rest of the thugs.(Or at least those ones still aware enough to.)The young hero glanced over, and gave a amused snort at seeing the hogtied goon. Meanwhile, the Head Jerk yelped, dancing backward, and gave a curse before giving a palefaced glare at Zach.Listening to what the cowboy had to say, he sneered before reluctantly giving up. "...Fine.Alright, gather up these other idiots, and lets get out." He glances over at Cor. "Sorry, f-..." Glancing over at Zach, he switched to another word. "Kid."He started following his crew out, but glanced back to muster up one last threat before quickly scurrying off. "Be seeing you two."Cor watched him leave, then noticeably relaxes with a sigh of both weariness and relief. Zach Sainmore

As the group made their escape, Zach kept a close eye on them until they disappeared. At which point, he gave his revolver the movie classic twirl and tuck before snapping the holster closed. Despite them being gone, his expression remained serious. He knew those kinds of people and his threat was all too real. He would most likely be back, but with more people and more weapons. The farmer has ran into people like that before. Looking at the boy, he gave him a nod as a form of greeting. "Seems now is good of time as any for introductions. Name's Zachary Sainmore, but most people just call me Zach." extending his arm, he offered a handshake. " So, you're a neo huh? From the looks of it, you seem to have a decent grip on your abilities." Taking a quick look at the sky, his mouth creased slightly. Judging by the position of the sun and time of the year, it was roughly around noon, so he still has a little while until the tractor would be ready. For right now, the best thing he could do would be to try to avoid the gang until then. But he didn't want to risk them finding the young boy and risk them getting the jump on him. Giving his head a slight pat, Zach offered a smile. " Since you save that couple, how 'bout ah treat you to lunch? There's a good diner a few blocks from here." Not only would it make it harder to find them in a public area, he was also hoping that it would prevent the gang from an immediate retaliation as acting out in public would cause a lot of people to stand against them. It was a small hope but still better than standing around, waiting for them to return. Corvin Sullivan

Cor blinked as Zach gave his gun a twirl and rich, giving a soft ooh. 'Cool...' Looking up at Zach as he nodded at him, the boy nodded back and accepted the handshake, letting the rod drop. Said weapon disappated into a few wisps of a black, smoke like substance before it hit the ground. "Nice to meet you,Mr. Zach.I'm C...Skotos."At the cowboy's question, he gives a nod, following up with a headshake at the following statement. "Yeah,I am. T-thanks,but not really..." His tone becomes slightly sheepish. "I still have a lot of learning to do."As Zach looked up to the sky for a few seconds, the young hero gave a glance up to the Big Blue as well, curious what he was looking at.Blinking at the headpat. Cor nevertheless leans into it slightly, only for his brows to furrow at the offer. He lifts his hand to the bottom of the mask, but let's it hover as he speaks up. Despite the mask hiding his mask, the boy's tone and tense posture would probably be able to tell Zach he was nervous. "I-I'm sorry, but do...do you promise you won't tell anyone who I am?...what I am?"Zach Sainmore

Giving the boy a slight smile and putting his hand on his shoulder, Zach shook his head. " It's like ah said, I don't care if you're a neo or not. That's none of my business. 'sides, we all have a side we'd rather not show." After his statement, the boy removed his hand from it's resting place and started to walk towards the street. Giving a small glance back, he nodded his head telling the child to follow him. Even if it was something as simple as a meal, Zach wanted to show his kindness to the neo, proving that not everyone hates them. However, looking forward, his smile faded a bit and his lip pursed slightly. As far as the boy knew, the rancher was just a normal civilian trying to live his life. However, just like he informed earlier, there's a secret he tries to keep hidden. Not due to him being afraid of it, but rather, not wanting others to become afraid of him. He's seen it before: someone turning their backs on a friend, a stranger, or even family, simply because of their newfound abilities. Looking down the streets, he was surprised by how relatively relaxed this small city was. Despite the occasional several storied building, it still maintained it's simplistic look, instead of turning into a concrete jungle. Far from the town his ranch is next to, yet, still friendly to mom and pop shops. Taking in a deep breath, he gave a slight sigh. Even the air was still cleaner than the cities. As a truck drove by, some of the dirt on its bed flew off, giving a small spray into the wind. Perhaps one day, he could bring his housemate here. A little get away from home. Nearing the diner, he opened the door for the younger one. " Howdy ma'am," he said to the hostess, giving a slight tip of his hat. " Table for two please, my brother and ah heard that this was the restaurant to stop by, should we be in town." As they were guided to their booth, the teen removed his hat and rested it on the table, upside down, keeping the brim in the air. " Go ahead an' order whatever you want. You deserve it," He said as he looked through the menu. Corvin Sullivan

Instinctively leaning into the hand, Cor looked up at Zach. Hidden eyes examined him as he considered those words for a second, then the boy nodded, smiling slightly beneath his mask as the tension faded away.It seemed like he could definitely trust this adult. "Ok." As Zach turned around and started walking off, Cor pulled the mask off and stored it in his bag, exchanging it for his shades. When Zach glanced back to nod at him and tell him to follow, the boy would nod, smiling and falling into a quick step to catch up. "Coming! He walked beside the older male, glancing around this city and thinking. He'd been too focused on getting what he came for to completely acknowledge it, but this city was....calmer then most of the other cities he'd been to,other than Sun City. It was kinda nice. After a minute or so of walking, Cor glanced up at Zach, giving a thoughtful him, then spoke up. His voice wasn't as firm as earlier. Not quite nervous,or wary, it was quieter and more shy,as if he didn't possess the confidence he did as Skotos. "My real name is Corvin Sullivan. The boy smiled up at Zach when he held the door for him, and gave a nod. "Thanks." Standing beside the elder, Cor gave a small wave to the hostess. "H-hello." Following the adults to the booth he hopped up into the seat across from Zach.Glancing up at said elder teen as he said he could order whatever he wanted, Cor gave a quick, small grin and nodding. "Ok.Thank you. Softly humming a tune, the boy examined the menu. Zach Sainmore

As the waitress came around with their food, she set the plates in front of them before pouring Zach a mug of black coffee. The smell of it was rich and bold, proving it was a fresh pot. With his plate of country fried steak and mashed potatoes, the cowboy was just about to cut into it when something caught his attention. It wasn't obvious to most, just a feeling. His gut was telling him that something wasn't right. Reaching over to take a sip of his coffee, his eyes were focused on the window. It seems peaceful and calm. Nothing out of the ordinary. In fact, it was like a still frame. That's what seemed wrong to him. Glancing at his watch, he raised an eyebrow. " It's around afternoon. Normally the streets would have at least a few people walkin' or cars drivin'." Making the comment in a hushed voice, the rancher hoped that it was just his nerves getting to him. That's when he heard it. A gunshot. Muffled by the walls, it was still loud enough that someone with enough experience could recognize it. Grabbing Cor by the arm, he yanked the boy from the booth, making a bee-line for the door. " Time to go, sounds like they're back." The instant he pushed the door open, a firm kick to his chest forced the farmer back inside and on his back. As he attempted to get up, the boot met his chest again, this time, applying pressure to keep him down. Glaring at the man, Zach struggled to reach his gun, but the clacking of metal stopped his attempt. Staring down the barrel of a pistol, the teen slowly put his arms up above his head. A scoff came from the man in the heavy armor. "Nobody's around to protect you, farmboy." Giving a smirk to the man, Zach opened his fists. " Ah don't need protectin'" With that, an instant blinding flash appeared, causing the man to stumble, allowing the country boy to scramble to his feet. Rubbing his eyes so he could see, the heavily armed guy pressed a button on his walkie. "Boss, they're in here. The farmer and the twerp!" Corvin Sullivan

Deciding on a meal of crispy chicken tenders and fries, the young Neo placed his order. When the waitress came back, placing his plate down infront of him, Cor gave her a grateful smile and soft thank you before beginning to enjoy the fresh, warm meal.Giving a impressed hum as the flavor hits him, he glanced up at Zach when the cowboy spoke up. Blinking at what he had to say, the boy glanced out of the window, brows furrowing slightly as he noticed that the streets were strangely empty. Taking a sip out of his glass of rootbeer, he glanced back at Zach, responding in as just a hushed manner. "T-that is weird...Maybe there's s-some kind of event going on??"He picked up a tender and started to eat it, only to glance back outside as he hears a muffled bang. 'What was that?...Wait...' Giving a surprised yelp as he's yanked out from the booth, Cor glanced up at Zach questioningly, only for his shades hidden eyes to widen at the statement the cowboy made.Nodding, the boy rapidly chews and swallows the tender, wanting to at least finish that. When Zach got a boot to the chest, knocking him over, Cor stagger back before landing on his butt.Giving the thug a annoyed glare, he prepared to form a shadow rod and smack his knee with it, only for the clacking of the pistol pointed at Sach to freeze him into place. 'Oh no...Think, Corvin!' However, Zach helped his own self, demonstrating a amazing surprise for both the armored thug, and Corvin himself. He looked up at Zach, and the cowboy would be able to see wide, bright red eyes staring up at him. "You're...like me?"As the other man called his boss on the walker, Skotos flipped his hoodie up and pulled his shades off in one swift movement, following up with forming a makeshift closefiting mask of string sized shadow tendrils, then a short rod, which he promptly sent whirling at the thug in a effort to bonk it off the side of his head.
