Timeline: After: I want to be like you Previous Threads: NA Characters Involved: Cheshire Location: Streets of New York Some legends are told Some turn to dust or to gold But you will remember me “ Lian had been dragging her feet all day, no matter how much her father tried to make her smile, or how much she just tried to put on a big smile for everyone it just was a bad day. It didn't help that it was Mother-Daughter day at school and later at night it would be a Mother-Daughter Dance. Well, that would be a great day for anyone, except for Lian who's mother was nowhere to be seen. Even though it wasn't Jade's fault and Lian knew that with all of her heart, but she was still an eight year old and well eight-year-olds still acted as they do when they are upset about something. So after a whole day of seeing all the girls in her class spend the day doing activities with their moms and kinda being forced to play with the boys, which she didn't mind, she did it all the time but STILL, she wanted to be playing with her mom like she used to. Even if it was for small bursts before Jade would have to run away before Rose would notice. So after Lian got home from school she yelled at the babysitter, threw a tantrum with them while they tried to get her to do her homework and then she slammed the door in their face and told them to go away. She then threw open her closet door and walked in and slammed it shut. She then screamed into her Speedy costume and then angrily put it on accompanied with her bow and quiver. She then stormed out of the house, not caring if the babysitter heard her leave or not. She then ran, she ran as fast as she could for as long as she could, and for Lian that was quite a long time. Once she was far enough from her normal stomping grounds and away from Red Hood's stomping grounds did she finally stop to see where she was. She bit her bottom lip, she didn't know where she was. So she decided to walk around and see what she could muster. Not long before she found herself in the middle of a gang fight. Which would have ended abruptly if she was still in Jason Todd's area, but since she wasn't she really had no external protection. "Look at the kid, thinks she's a superhero." one of the men laughed at her. Lian huffed up her chest to make herself look bigger, but in a circle of five giant men three times her size, she still looked like a tiny mouse in a cat trap. "MY NAME IS SPEEDY AND I WILL KICK ALL OF YOUR BUTTS" the girls voice rang out strong and proud. She wasn't going to back down, she couldn't she was a hero after all. ” notes I used this song as inspration for this thread... The Best Day

It hadn't been long since Cheshire had fallen through the portal to this new world. Knowing she needed to steady her ground, she had kept low for the first week, learning about her environment and who else was around. She was in full gear, hopping from rooftop to rooftop. She only paused when she heard the name of Speedy, halting herself on the roof above them as she perched on the ledge, the wind blowing through her hair as she crouched down and listened. The voice sounded so young...A younger Roy? Ha! Oh the embaressment on her husband's face if she told him about this! However after a second glance she saw the figure was clearly a little girl....With black hair....and those pinchable cheeks....and that voice....That's when it all clicked in her head, eyes going wide beneath her mask.
She wanted to shout Lian's name at the top of her lungs, just barely refraining from doing so as she saw one of the goons getting ready to unholster their gun. A low growl rumbling from her throat she threw down a shuriken, it hit his hand and bounced off into the wall, making him drop his weapon as she took several small jumps, alternating between fire escapes before landing with a roundhouse kick to the face of the first goon she had cut with her shuriken.
"One down, four to go. Feel free to run, I enjoy chasing my prey~" She said with a smirk, not that it was visible from the perpetual grin masking her face. More weapons were soon drawn. A baseball bat, a chain, and brass knuckles. Oh too easy. The one with the chain struck first, attempting to wrap it around Jade's arm but she quickly pulled out one of her swords with her free arm, slicing the chain apart and using the remaining part to yank the thug over towards her, and into her punching fist.
One more down, Cheshire twirled her sword in her hand as if it were a baton "Who's next?" She asked as the one with the bat charged at her....leaving himself oh so exposed. She could feel the urge in her palms, to shove her sword right through his vulnerable throat...But with a glance at Lian, she didn't want to risk scaring the child and instead embedded her sword in his bat while delivering a powerful knee to the chin.
"S-stay away from me you damn freak!" yelled the last goon, his hands shaking around his weapon. "Cussing in front of the child? That's a trip to the hospital." said Cheshire coldly, walking up to the guy calmly and kicking him in the knee hard enough to fracture it. Falling over, the guy yelled in pain before Jade stomped on his face, both knocking him out and breaking his jaw.
With a content chuckle she collapsed her sword and stashed it. Walking over to Lian while removing her mask to make sure the young girl knew who she was. "Lian sweetie, you alright?"

Lian was ready to take action, her trusty bow and arrows at her side. Before she could even make a move a Shuriken was on the scene. Lian paused a bit, she wondered who it could be, who would step in to help her out. Who would use such a weapon. Then a voice called out, she knew who it was the second they used the word prey. Lian smiled brightly as she watched the figure take out the goons. While she watched lian could tell there was a difference between this Cheshire and the one she knew. One was the age, this Cheshire seemed to be younger and well the clothing was different. Lian liked this outfit a lot more. Once the goons were taken care of and Jade made her way up to Lian the girl dropped her bow and arrow and ran into the arms of the woman and began crying. "Mommy." Lian buried herself into the woman. It was like a dream come true, she finally had her main family here with her. Daddy and Mommy were here in this crazy world and even Uncle Jay was here. Sure she missed Oliver and some of the others but she really missed Jade the most.
"Mommy." Lian couldn't find any other words to say but that one. Cheshire

Jade was caught off guard, not expecting the sudden burst of extra weight clinging onto her, almost stumbling over but maintaining her balance as she softly smiled and gently wrapped her arms around Lian, "Shhhh....It's alright sweetie. I'm here. Mommy's here." As she kneeled down a little to kiss her daughter on the forehead. She carefully checked Lian for any sign of harm, a slight sigh of relief escaping her as she saw she was fine. "What were you doing out here alone? It's not safe for someone your age. Your lucky that I got here when I did..." As she let go of the hug and placed a hand on her shoulder. "Please tell me your father is here with you. You haven't been here all alone right?" She asked in a worry, the idea of her daughter running around in a world all alone, and especially looking for trouble, was too much for her to bare.

Some legends are told Some turn to dust or to gold But you will remember me “ Lian snuggled into the woman as they hugged, it was the warm feeling she had missed. Yes, Roy's hugs were awesome but she always needed her mothers love too. After all, it was something that she enjoyed, love, from both her parents. She knew they loved her more than anything and now that they were both here in this world she would be getting all the love from both of them. It wasn't selfish to want their love, it was natural, it was what she wanted the most when she had been dropped on the earth first. She remembered the cold nights living in that cardboard box that was never warm like her bed was. So yes, she had that need for love from both of them right now more than ever. Cheshire looked Lian over and the little squeaker smiled big at her. "I'm a superhero mommy! Just like Daddy!" Lian stood proudly as she showed off her Speedy costume and her little pink handmade bow and arrows. Lian then looked down and away from Jade when she asked if Roy was there with her. She then kicked the dirt a bit. "Daddy is probably around here somewhere." she gave that look of knowing she had been doing wrong. "I'm out here alone but I'm not on this world alone, not anymore. Daddy is here and Uncle Jay is here Nana Canary is here, and now you are here." She spoke looking up at the woman, she then took a sigh knowing she should give more information then what she was giving. "Daddy doesn't know I'm out here. At least I don't think he does." She then gave a pouty face, which turned to an angry face. "But all the babysitters are stupid brats. Who never want to play or are too stupid to realize I'm gone in the first place. Why should I care if they lose their job for not paying attention to me." She huffed and she puffed about the teenage babysitters. Lian had gone off on a tangent about the Babysitters and completely avoiding the fact that she was indeed out here alone without back up. While she had done it before she had always run into others who had her back during hard choices, even though she wanted to do it alone. Perhaps that was something she had gotten from Jade, the independence of wanting to do things on her own, but she also didn't mind teaming up as she knew all the best heroes were in teams. She finally took a deep breath and looked at Jade, wondering how her mother was going to react to all this information about being out here alone, the babysitters and then she got a worried look. "Don't be mad at daddy though its not his fault its mine, so if your mad be mad at me okay. Hes been a good daddy he tucks me in when hes home he makes me eat healthy foods and he makes me do my homework. I have good grades. Daddy is a good daddy and I love him, I'm the bad daughter for breaking the rules." She spoke as she tried to make sure that Jade wouldn't be upset with Roy. ”

Jade's eye twitched slightly as she let out an internal scream of rage and horror that would have been heard from Apokolips if it wasn't inside her head. Her precious baby was running up to thugs and crooks?! At such a young age?! ALONE?! Someone was going to die. She didn't know who yet, but someone was. At least Roy was here, that was a spark of good among this whirlwind of chaos driving Jade mad. "You can't go out here alone! It's not safe for someone your age! You want to follow Roy's goodie good footprints, wait until your a teenager AT LEAST! It's not Roy I'm mad at, it's you Lian! Do you realize how serious this is!? Your just a kid! Your not old enough to be able to defend yourself! If I hadn't spotted you, then who knows what would have happened! We are heading straight home while we discuss whether or not you are grounded for LIFE!" Shrieked Jade, her inner parent haven taken complete control at this point and coming out at a mile a minute. She was about to take Lian's hand and tug her along to her house before realizing....She didn't actually know where Lian was living.

Some legends are told Some turn to dust or to gold But you will remember me “ Lian wasn't used to hearing her mother yell, most of the time she only ever got to see her mother in prison or when Jade tracked her down when she was with her baby sitters. So seeing this part of her mother was indeed scary to her, normally the only ones who ever yelled at her were Roy and sometimes Dinah and Oliver even then it was something that was normal. Lian backed away from Jade slowly and put her head down as she listened to the woman scold her. Lian noticed that Jade was about to reach out and she moved back a bit more. "I-I'm sorry." She sniffled, and her eyes began to get red and puffy. The young girl was unsure of what to do, she didn't want to run away because that was a bad idea and she knew better. She thought about running towards the nearest Red Hood hideout but she was just frozen in place. Scared that her mother would yell at her more, and that really wasn't what she wanted. Lian really didn't think of the consequences of doing things on her own, she had done it for a month or more on her own before Roy even made it to this world, and she did just fine so she didn'registergisture to it that it was a bad thing to do now that she wasn't alone. ”

As Jade finished her rant, the look of terror upon Lian's face was worse than any gut punch she had received in the past. Great. First minute of true parenting and I'm already sh*t at it. The vexing villain chastised herself in her head, crouching down to Lian's height in an attempt to appear less threatening as she squatted down.
"I'm sorry Lian, I didn't mean to worry you....I just want to make sure your safe" said Jade, hoping she hadn't screwed up her chances already. With a calming breath she relaxed her body language to give off a more peaceful vibe. Extending her arms a bit, Jade positioned herself in the classic open hug position, if her daughter still trusted her enough that is. Thinking quickly, she attempted to switch tactics. "It's not all bad though. If you have really been stopping crime like this, then that means you have incredible potential. You could be better than me or Roy, just when your older" she said encouragingly, stashing her mask in her kimono to maintain a partially casual appearance in case anyone came snooping around her and Lian. Of course she wasn't incapable or hesitant to act if such a moment occurred. "Come on sweetheart, let's head back to your father. I'm sure he'll be happy to see both of us, and you must be close to getting tired soon, am I right?" She asked, still new to this whole "parenting" thing, it seemed discipline was something she sorely needed lecturing on.

Some legends are told Some turn to dust or to gold But you will remember me “ Lian watched as Jade crouched down to her and opened her arms for a hug, to which Lian clang to the woman. Lian smiled brightly when the woman spoke about how she could become just as good or even better than her and daddy and that made her happy. She rested her head on Jade's shoulder. "I will lead you home." She yawned as Jade spoke about being tired and Lian really didn't realize how tired she really was until something was brought up about it. It really didn't take long for Lian to point in the directions of the house and she leads the woman up the back of the fire escape into her bedroom. "Shhhh you might scare the baby sitter." Lian then opened up her closet and walked in. She put her speedy costume on the rack along with her bow and quiver and put on her pink pajamas. "I don't know when Daddy will be home but I'll get you some clothes." With that Lian ran out of the room and into Roy's where she grabbed some of his sweat pants and one of his t-shirt. When she came back into the room the girl was pretty much covered in the oversized clothing, one of the pant legs dragging on the floor as she walked back into her room. "Here, now you can be comfy too, the shower is down the hall and to the one side where the picture of Daddy and Uncle Jay are." She spoke with a huge smile on her face. "I'm glad you came home, mommy. I really missed you." Lian gave the dark-haired woman a big hug and a smile to match it. ” notes Tagged Roy incase Razzy wants to hop in on this thread  or we could make a nother one.
